Bro... I play skyrim for many years, how tf did I not know about it... o_O Thank you so much! I was searching for mods for quick equip but I found this... and it's way better!
I've been playing Skyrim for 5 years, have thousands of hours in-game, and have been lamenting the lack of hotkeys the entire time. I had no idea about this. I can't believe I never knew.
Bethesda had to go and remove a good thing from Oblivion that wasn't broken, that said it's not too difficult to figure out. but man early on my first run, it took me forever to figure how to cast magic, switch weapons. Oblivion set that up perfectly.
@@George-um2vc There are several methods: 1- You can press Q to open the favorites menu, hover your mouse over the thing you hotkeyed and press that key once again. 2- If that doesn't work, try finding the thing in your inventory/magic menu, hovering over it and pressing the F key to unfavor it. Pressing it a second time should add it back to favorites without a hotkey assigned. 3- Additionally, if it's an item, you can remove its hotkey by dropping and picking it up, or tucking it somewhere and taking it back. Interestingly enough, that doesn't remove said item's "favorite" status, only the hotkey bind.
Just started playing Skyrim few weeks ago and was about to give up because i'm spending more time switching weapons than playing, but this feature gives me hope it will make it easier. thanks a lot!
What. The. Hell. I have about 500 hours on Skyrim and I never knew you could do this. Had I not just subscribed because of your Inigo vids, I’d likely have never figured this out. You are a god!!
This was an informative video! I play on PC but will keep the weapon/spells switching tip in mind for if I ever play Skyrim on console. The editing tips were impressive and show a bit of how much work you do to create such great videos!
ColinBurtonPlays I’m familiar with using hot keys on PC and it’s definitely useful, especially when having numerous spells. My sons play on console so if I ever play Skyrim on console with them, your tips will be good to keep in mind.
I don't know why it's so hard to find someone or something explaining how to do this! Thank you so much! I was wanting something like a hotbar since I'm going to mainly be a mage, and going in and out of menus, even the favorites menu, was really tedious! I was trying to find a hotbar mod (there are none) and then I found your video.
Thanks Colin. I'm a veteran Skyrim player and never knew this but this playthrough it really bugged me and I found you. Thanks again... Liked and subbed
If for any reason you'd like to remove a hotkey, here's a couple of ways to do that: 1- You can press Q to open the favorites menu, hover your mouse over the thing you hotkeyed and press that key once again. 2- If that doesn't work, try finding the thing in your inventory/magic menu, hovering over it and pressing the F key to unfavor it and remove the key bind. Pressing F again second time should add it back to favorites, but the hotkey you had before won't be retained. 3- Additionally, if it's an item, you can remove its hotkey by dropping and picking it up, or tucking it somewhere and taking it back. Interestingly enough, that doesn't remove said item's "favorite" status, only the hotkey bind.
Lol just learned this after I don’t even know how long, good thing because I just picked up the anniversary edition a month or so ago and started a two handed spell sword build and this just made it so much easier to hot swap
Omw! I'm on ps3, I had no idea I could "hot key" my favourites. It always confused me when I saw the 1 or 2 suddenly appear in my favourite menu. Thanks!
I really love seeing the older community playing games, like I’m not man that they don’t play to good because they’re older, they play like I expect them to
I’ve been playing since it came out and have only learnt today about that hotkey 😂 I knew about favourites but never though to press left or right on the Dpad
Thank you for this video. Very useful feature during battle. Skyrim game is very deep, so much to learn. LUCKY FOR US WE HAVE GOOD GAMER LIKE YOU GIVING US GOOD TIPS.
Thank you for the video Colin, i appriciate it a lot. Seems that I know how to do it now, thank you. I had to laugh as I saw my comment in the video😂😂😂😂 Sorry again for asking you that.
@@ColinBurtonPlays I also found a mod so that you can use more hotkeys for it. Its called Kontrol, or Kontrols I dont know it exactly right now. Might give it a try. Thanks again😅😅😅👍👍👍
Just started playing skyrim for the first time and i wanted to know if there was a quick way to change your weapons. Thanks alot for this video, Also i did subscribe ❤️
Thanks Colin, an interesting and informative video. I know how to use the favourites. But couldn't figure out the hotkey. Will definitely give that a try.
I had no idea about the button mapping technique for skyrim after all this time. I'll definitely keep this mind when I play skyrim next time. I'll have to see if this technique is usable on playstation. It was also a plus to see you sharing how you edit your video.
thanks, sweetie, you have no idea how long iv'e been trying to do this and I didn't want to ask any of the channels I watch because it would make me feel even dumber
Oh and if you didn't know before, you can hotkey favorited items by holding a certain direction on the keypad. For example, if you hold left for an item you'll equip/use it.
I've been playing this game years thank you for teaching me this 😂 but I can't use the D-pad to number equipment I can favourite tho so thanks for that
Oblivion's quick slot wheel was infinitely better than Skyrim's cumbersome favorite list D-pad trash. It's no wonder so many players don't even figure out how to do this.
Lucien Vanilla Skyrim on PC has 8 hot keys. Quickly switching between them works similar to what Colin showed as far as favoriting the weapons/spells/shouts/potions, with the difference being instead of using the controller keys like Colin does you would use numbers 1 through 8 to select your choice.
There is also at least one mod which expands the favorites menu and hotkey options, though I've never used it myself. Sorry I can't name it off the top of my head, but it looks like it might be useful. =^[.]^=
Press the same hotley twice to equip it in both hands, it doesnt work with any enchantments because it wont stack anymore with enchantments even if there the exact same.
Just like in the video. Put away your weapons. Equip a spell. Select one of your favourited weapons. When you put away your weapon, you’ll be left with the spell you used before. If you didn’t have a spell equipped in the first place, you’ll be unarmed when you put your weapons away.
@@ColinBurtonPlays, It's a bit funny to use at first,, You have to put thing's in your favorite just like before, Then merely to pull up your favorite list you hold left bumper then tap Y, Your favorite list appears, Then like in the other mod while your favorite list is up merely hold left, right, up or down on the D-pad, To access the other four slots merely hold left bumper then press the same left, right, up or down, Once all 8 are set up same thing outside the favorite list left, right up or down works for the 1st 4 slots, Then while in the open world hold left bumer & press the 4 directions to acces the other 4 slots,, It took me a minuteto figure ou, But worth it, It gives you fast access to all menus too Left bumper then press Y or B or X or A to access immediate Skills for left bumper Y, Immediate Item's list Left bumper B, Left bumper tap X for quick spell menu's, & Left bumper A for quick map access,, I will admit it was a bit weird to set up, But once you are used to the controls it's absolutely worth it,, I use dodge mod on the right bumper with sneak,, Hope this help's you, 🤗

Just unfavorite it
