You're sitting on a TH-cam gold mine with these shows because everyone who watched them back in the day will rewatch them all and so will the people who've not had the pleasure of them on TV!
    Thanks guys! 👏🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Yeah it wasn't till near the end of the 90's that we started to recover from the low compression emissions era of the 70's and 80's. a 93 Z28 camaro had 285hp. which was up almost 100hp over a 1980 Z28. But still nowhere near the glory days of the 60's and early 70's muscle cars. It really took technology both in engines and unleaded fuels a long time to get us back to where we were. Now all that being said back in 97 when the LS1 came on the scene it was putting out almost 300hp to the rear wheels with a manual trans. So when this truck was built 340 rear wheel (assuming since they didn't specify) from a 496 isn't a lot.

I agree that doesnt sound like much but i cant help but notice from comments that people, usually kids dont get impressed unless someone is spouting off about 2000hp from a twin turbo but most have never ridden in anything with even 300hp much less 5 or 600hp. 340 is plenty to get that truck moving and anything much over that starts to get hard to handle. Yall may be suprised when you actually line them up the numbers dont mean much.

Not for nothing, the gas tank. I see this in many aftermarket tanks. Welded on mounting flanges. BAD IDEA!! There is a reason OEM tanks were secured with belly straps. In a collision you don't want a rigidly attached piece ready to tear open your tank, that's why the bands around the tank holding it up. Wiggle room. Do you thing for a moment OEMs would have put one more step in the assembly than they had to? As an aside, I was off roading in my '62 chevyII (Don't judge me, it was a stock 194 6cyl 2 speed iron powerglide, I paid $25 for, those were the days, sold it for $75, thought I was making a killing!) I heard my muffler dragging. I got out and my tank was being dragged behind me by the fuel line. Impact had unhooked the hooks in the front. But I lived.

I think the first set of brakes for the front look a lot stronger in the more expensive ones I would go for the first brake system before I would spend that much money in the other system the other system had a better will wheel bearings like a newer style spindle with the newer style wheel bearing then you'd want to run the that type of system also timken wheel bearings are the best wheel bearings you can use anything else you're just put Japanese parts on your car timken wheel bearings with national seals and a good high dollar high pressure Grease of course the new wheel bearings I'm talking about are pre Grease and have their own bearing and hub assembly that would be a bulletproof assembly something to think about if the spindles are interchangeable with the older spindles of an older vehicle

It’s old school power, huge cubic inch and not the best power. Back when engines convert fuel to pure noise

      Well, it depends...
Since he's spraying, you wouldn't want the engine to make max power or you'll blow it. I'd prefer to go engine too, but nitrous oxide is probably cheaper than having it blow gas out the pipe when you stomp it.

Maybe, but dont forget about torque

8.1L. But that's factory hp from the early 2000s. They made over 500lbft of torque tho. Some small mods and they have gobs of torque.

What's up with the laugh/chuckle talking? It seems like he's aways kicking a laugh into his syllables. It's pretty strange o.0

For the price of all that hardware, I could get a really nice used truck, and not have to build anything. It's stupid to spend all that money on a truck that you're afraid to beat on, dropping them is the absolute worst thing anyone can do to trucks, unless you want to plow snow without a plow.

340hp? Sounds a little bit lethargic for a almost 500ci engine.
