My very first vehicle was a 1968 Chevy C10. My brother had a '67. The thumbnail is what caught my eye. That cab is NOT a '67, in that year the truck had a smaller back window.
It is a beautiful looking truck, and I would love to have my first truck back now.

Have you seen the mazda he put together thats right put it together cause he didnt fab anything same for the put together kit car he did what a pos. copperhead was put together with all kinds of mistakes hell the 2 in exhaust was choking out the 572 which he never should have had the honor of the first one. He put a stock suspension on it spent more time fixing stuff he should have done before he had it painted. God the mullet dont get me started on the mullet

guy * face palm * go to a wind tunnel and find out like i did that the tail gate CLOSED creates a low pressure system that moves all on coming air OVER the bed of the truck reducing drag and resistance , now with that said when you lower like you did or full open the tail gate the whole of the low pressure zone is GONE and all on coming air over the cab will pitch down into the bed and focus MORE on the gate area causing down force and drag and turning your gas hand in the E position much much faster ! so with that said GATE UP = better gas mileage GATE DOWN = drag and reduced gas mileage but better rear end traction not for traction and drag and resistance the gate full open is OPTIMAL but, the angle you put it in " spoiler " will cause a counter affect shifting the low pressure zone to the back of the gate like a wing and cause lift and more drag in air resistance into the pitched oncoming air ! another example you ever notice trucks at a drag strip? ever notice the fastest truck has the gate closed and gets faster and a bit squarely? and ever notice the truck with the gate full open is slower and stays stable the whole time ? dont need to go to a wind tunnel like i did to find out the facts in fluid dynamics and yes air is a fluid gas :)

  • @danareynolds1786
    @danareynolds1786 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Most trucks do better aerodynamically with the tailgate closed. Starting with the GM square bodies, they were wind tunnel tested to do just that. Driving without the tailgate closed will spread the bedwalls apart at the rear. Ask me how I know... 🤔

I love the 67 C10, built many of them and the harder builds were the big block builds because the 67 cab was not meant for a 396 or 454. The firewall has to be either beat in or modified. This to me is not a 67 cab, 67 cabs have that hard to find small back window, this cab, being that it can take a big block and that the back window is the rather not too good looking big back window says to me that this is not a 67 C10 cab...

Now, depending on the episodes they post, one of them, Stacey talks about a PPG dealer in Tennessee who help him create this copper metallic using a Ford paint code with some silver mixed in to make it pop. Boy, does it ever! The paint code / mixture was given the name of this project I believe, if my memory works, as this video have disappeared then came back. (Please forgive me if not PPG)
Many 67-72 C10 trucks forums discuss this topic, but a phone call to a local PPG paint store my get you the answer as I am sure you will have not been the only one to call.

@@martinneps9387 I believe the TV show "Trucks" was on before "youtube" was invented. As for David Stacey, he has moved on to a show /website called "GearZ'.
Just call the PPG paint store if looking for this paint code. I use 1976 Nissan / Datsun 301 medium light metallic brown as it was on the 280Z. You can find nice photos online of "Datsun 301" paint code. Not only was I a service tech at the dealer, then asked to take these new test called NIASE for $0.5 hr. flat increase in pay, so I tased all 8 test and become a Master Tech. I but bought a low milage 1976 Datsun 280Z from a customer who wanted to trade it in. I drove that car for 12 years until I had a job 3 blocks from home and 6 vehicles plus a Yamaha 850 Triple. I believe the added 1 oz. per gallon of GM 1984-86 silver for a Monte Carlo to a Ford paint.
I still have a 1969 Datsun Roadster with a frame-off restoration. It is the grandfather to the "Z" car series starting in 1965 with two engines. They used Porsche type synchro's in the transmission, with 2 piston front calipers and full perimeter frame because it's a convertible. Model SPL-311 w/1600 cc push-rod engine, while the option was SLR-311 w/ 2,000 OHC engine. It was replaced with the 240Z, then 260Z and 280Z. Worked on all of them at the dealer with the 1976 280Z and Cadillac Seville w/350 Cu. In. both had EFI while others had CIS, mechanical or the Corvette w/Rochester fuel injection. I became good with our 3 gas engine analyzer which came in handy when I moved to a 42 year old shop that bought a new Bear Ace 4-gas engine analyzer that know one used. It stayed in my 3 bays for years.
This was back when all carbs, alternators, starters came from the dealer in a box and no one else. No re-mans, so we rebuilt everything.
Best of luck with your project!

I don't like the tailgate. Where Chevrolet should be looks to plain and awkward. I would think something from the 1988 and newer of that generation of truck , would have a molding or decal that would look nice to balance that odd flat. Maybe even something from an S10 of that era, but the S10 might not be wide enough to look right.

I pulled drop in liners out that were a little faded. And bed was rusty underneath. Don't know how bed was when it was put in though. But mud and shit was built up under. I yank them out and do spray lining now

    All shiny and stuff
Most if not all new parts are made in China.
OEM parts are the best parts period.
Stuff made in China will crack rust because they’re no bueno.
I bought shiny rims for my 14 Mustang GT
I hit a pot hole they bent and cracked - cannot be repaired- worse thing is manufacturer NICHE no longer have them. I am now forced to buy 4 new rims instead of 2...
I sold my OEM rims already for peanuts dumb move
If you can salvage repair OEM parts, do it.
The only thing good on this truck is the engine. And again you stick a powerful motor in a truck that was not designed to save your butt at high speed... hmmm that shiny paint job won’t save your sorry arse.

1:00: there needs to be heat-shielding placed on the firewall behind the engine before its all mounted up otherwise the heat from the engine will just peal the paint. 18:22 those drop in plastic linders are absolutely shit! they get moisture between the bed and the liner and rust out the panels! a polyeurathane spray-on liner is best.

I have a drop in liner in my 2001 Silverado. I took it out last year. No rust at all.

A simple coat of paint is even better than bed liner...
