    You sir are a genius ! This test just confirmed that a brand new CAM sensor was bad. I have been fighting a random no start condition on a 2002 Impala and it starts every time with this test! Thank you for posting!

    good sh*t. You are correct...Paul is a hell of a teacher! The eBook and/or print book are DEFINITELY worth their prices. I immediately saved myself a $300 "shop fix" by consulting with the book before commiting to the mechanic. If you dont have the book..GET IT...NOW!

    Yea Mr. Danner is one of a kind. Just a short year ago my hair would have looked like that wiring after messing with that thing but now it sure helps to know what to look for, thanks to Paul and the thorough explanations he gives he is teaching us all and what kind of price can you put on that.     I was interesting that it wouldn't stay running with the bypass test using the test light. It should have. This cam signal is only needed during initial cranking to start the injection sequence. Anyway, again, very nice job

    After reading a few of the comments I just want to clarify that he is replacing the camshaft sensor not the crankshaft sensor as the the crankshaft sensor on that engine is behind the harmonic balancer on the outside of the timing chain cover.

    Good little video. However, one thing anyone should know. The crankshaft sensor (its the one he replaced) starts the car. The camshaft sensor takes over after 1 minute or so and disables the crankshaft sensor. So if your car does not start, look to the crankshaft sensor. If your car starts then shuts down 3 blocks later, then look to the camshaft sensor. regards.

      He replaced the camshaft sensor. I dont think your crankshaft is in the top of your engine.

    Thank you for this. I have used a mechanic on my Saab V6 and after charging my over $3000 for assorted parts he just said, well its electrical, can't help -- and I am out 3 grand. No wonder people do work themselves these days, as this was a trusted mechanic and he still ripped me off. I am chasing a no start on my Saab and after 8 months I am no closer to a solution. Auto electrician said, if the car isn't running then they are interested, they will only deal with electrical if car starts -- it was about then I sad bad things. Vidoes like this help me a great deal, so thank you, mate.

      Robert Stephenson Auto repair is a skill not an exact science and as such some are better at certain aspects than others. Your guy just isn't as good in electrical as people like scanner danner. I'll tell you one thing about people that are good at their trade like scanner danner, they don't come cheap. Because of this people don't tend to utilize their services regularly. Not many are interested in mechanics that charge a diagnostic fee in addition to a repair labor fee. They just want the cheap fix it for this flat fee which is the cost of the part and a little extra for putting it on the car. Those that want even cheaper are the ones that fix cars themselves. It has nothing to do with the quality of automotive technicians available but instead with not wanting to pay what those auto techs would charge.

      Robert Stephenson What Killer2600 side is true,many of us that possess the cornucopia of skills required to repair vehicles 2wheels to 18, are more frustrated than you. We see how manufacturing/design processes change faster and faster. Many of these changes require a continued investment in education,and tooling and information. Unfortunately most of which does not mean added value to our customers. For this reason I decline many jobs,i refuse to comprise my reputation. Finding a problem is different than repairing/solving an issue. Technician means we are detectives, engineers, computer techs,electricians, historians ,sociologists,psychologists, managers, ect... Never mind we have our stuff to deal with. All of this complicated by the new parts that hit the street,that are bad to begin with. After all is said and done most techs genuinely care. We seemed to be judged on the jobs that are out of our control to begin with. We hardly ever hear about the good,but are persistently haunted by the bad. Every gig is an educated roll of the dice,hoping and praying it doesn't kill our career. Saab is out of business so those parts are instantly ,more expensive. We see your point,we would love to hear both sides of the story. I believe there's alot to be learned here. I/we hope your toy (as I call them) is doing better. To you and all the customers don't be to harsh on the techs out here. If it isn't right tell us, when it's right tell the world. One last thought finding the right tech,is a needle in the hay stack thing.

      WIZARDWERX while this is all true, I have had to teach myself the functions of the Saab 9000 series, as fewer mechanics will touch them, and sadly I don't see the sense in it. It is a 4 cylinder turbo. It has a few sensors that throw up clear scanner faults when dead. It has the easiest CV and drive shaft replacement system I have ever seen. My local said it would cost me about $1000 and take all day. I asked around a bit, as it is wise to check, the drive shafts cost $150 each so I was guessing $700 was labour cleanup and other stuff. I changed both shafts in an hour and I didn't have access to all the right tools. If the mechanic had said $600 then I probably would have said sure, but these days they see Saab and go strange. I had one, during a regular oil change tell me the synthetic oil was specially made and that the oil filter cost $45. I learned my lesson on that. The oil filter was a Ryco standard 418 for $8.95 and synth oil was $50 ... $450 for this is bullshit, and I don't care how many years of training I'm paying for.
      While I think a mechanic is worth their weight in gold I am seeing more and more of the one that sprout nonsense, bump up prices and then claim it is because the car is this or that...

      Well..? first Saab 9000 series are little sweetie's, real go get'ters. Your local mechanic/s should be ashamed of themselves. Sorry to hear about this kind of treatment. You are right they are trying to rip you off. And gives all of us a bad name.They will simply have to miss out on such wonderful opportunity. I have come across a few Saab's and always intrigued by their design. Some definitely different.Sounds like you have yours under control,and enjoying it. The prices your being quoted are obscene. Repair manuals for your car should be inexpensive.Good to have.Its late here,U.S east coast. By the way 2 axle's approx.4hrs. $300.00 labor and $120 for both axles,cool right.

    Nice Job....... like the substitute sensor trick. Now a frienly advice, since you got it runing, drive it to the nearest junk yard asap....... I am gonna have nightmares after watching all those wires and the fuse box about to fall over :-(

    gracias por el vídeo yo tengo un impala 2002 y tengo el mismo problema ya fue alguien fue con el scanner grande y no tiene códigos, ya le cambio la computadora la llave y el modulo de control y la bomba de gasolina al fin mucho dinero invertido y mis injetores no tienen pulso pero si tengo chispa y gas le cambie el crankshaft sensor, "pero no cambie el camshaft sensor" ojala y ese sea mi problema mil gracias por tu video será de mucha ayuda

    Interesting! so looks like here that the cam position sensor is only needed to start the engine and then timing/spark/fuel injection is by way of the Crank position sensor. I wonder if this would work for the crank position sensor the same way and engine would start with a new sensor plugged in its connector.

    I know this is a late comment,usually the ignition control module ICM controls your ignition & injector pulse,your icm is controlled by your ecm which sends a 5volt reference signal...so what was it?

    Hello, I have a 2000 camry 2.2l witk 96k miles with high postive long term fuel trim at 20% at idle, short term flucuates between potisve and negative 5% , but at higher rpm the long term fuel trim drops to 5%, but I cannot find a vaccum leak visibly, would a exhaust manifold or intake manifold leak would cuase this? Or would a bad fuel injector cause this? I also have do NOT have check engine light on. Also I've replaced both 02 sensors, pcv and valvet cover gasket, cleaned throttle body, swapped spark plugs.

    I need the schematic or diagram for the harness. my fuse box melted the harness connector and i need to identify where they go... i got new fuse box and connector now, but dont know where the cables go where it was burned...anyone???? 2005 venture.

    This truck did have spark though?
    We swapped out a wiring harness on a 93 F150 and it will run on ether but has no injector pulse at all.

      @@elPanin An engine fire had bunred up the wiring harness on the 93 F 150.
      Another shop replaced it but couldn't get it running.
      One wiring harness that came from the salvage yard had MAP sensor plugs but no MAF sensor plugs built in. A 96 Model harness had MAF plugs but no MAP sensor plugs.
      So we could get rid of the MAP sensor codes we went back and got the ECM off the same truck the harness came off because a 96 didn't have a MAP sensor so it wont look for the MAP sensor and set a code.
      None of the injectors were firing at all with the old ECM so maybe something had shorted out in it with the engine fire melting all the insulation from the wires. I think it should at least have ran with no MAP sensor maybe I'm not sure.

    ha I have a 1998 Cadillac deville 4.6 sometimes the fuel injector will pulse and most of the time not sometimes cranks sometimes not.any suggestions

    CKP itself or connector (moisture, corrosion, oil drips) or bad wiring.

    Buenas tardes señor... Tengo un problema con mi 92 caprice classic acabo de cambiar mi distributor a mi carro y no quiere prender. Se me apago una tarde en traffico en ida a la casa traia a mis hijas y no me prendio yo pense ke talves era mi distributor peri resulta que no es. Ahora estoy pensando de que pueda ser mis injectors porque el año pasado le cambie el gas pump. Porfavor nesecito ayuda or tips en talves lo ke pueda ser. Thank you sir

      Tienes que checar que es lo que le falta Jose , 🤔 chispa , presion de gasolina , pulso a los injectores ,, es lo que se checa normalmente 👍

      @@elPanin disculpe que le responda hasta ahorita eh estado muy ocupado con el carro y mis hijas pero ya regresamos de vuelta. So si cheque la presion de la gasolina y le cambie el icm or ecm que esta localizado a la par del distribudor. El distributor tambien se lo cambie y apenas a las 930 pm acabe de aser todo i put everything back togather. Y desgraciadamente no prendio mi carro.

      @@elPanin y tambien hablando de la presion de la gasolina no salio ningun tipo de pression como sale normalmente cuando voy a la gas station. Sera que mi gas pump este dañada de nuevo? Apenas ase 10 meses le acobo de replasar la gas pump.

    El crank sensor tiene que estar conectado al motor brother, no existe vehicle que tenga un motor el cual funcione cuando el mecánico tiene el crank sensor en su mano por que lo que hace que aga el pulso la polea de el motor... nice job anyways..

    Damn dude you taking over a mess something like that I wouldn't even touch hi condo before work on cars trucks that people cannot fix that's the kind of work I give most time always fixing up even cars that were supposed to be fixed by dealers people think that taking the car to a dealer it's going to solve the problem I am sorry but it's not dealers got a bunch of young guys but they don't even know what their name is all about this cuz they went to school for one year they think they know it all no they don't it takes years of experience to learn all this and a lot of practice as long as you can speak mechanic work who cares lot of guys talk very sweet by numbers like they know everything they cannot even put a carburetor together I've been through it all so don't worry about your English you okay if you fix it make another video to prove everybody else wrong have a good one buddy and good luck

      usa un voltimetro regular en el cable de senal, debes tener 2.5 volts promedio ,si no tienes ese voltage y al sensor si le llegan los 5 volts en el otro cable el sensor no sirve

    Whatever controls is part controls the injectors no injection no fuel pump no spark I ran into a lot of problems with cars trucks just like that no pick-up coil passport no cam sensor no coil Spark weird I saw this system in on cards works

      +Antonio T Posadas no tiene el security prendido, hoy cambie el camshaft sensor, y si prendió el carro pero por unos 30 minutos después lo apague y ya no prendió no se que será el problema pero es algo electrónico

      Que tal Raul se que ya tiene mucho tiempo este post, pero quiza esto le sirva a alguien mas.
      Con un medidor de pulsos de inyectores conectado a cualquier inyector la llave encendida debes de ver una luz tenue que viene de el driver de la PCM si no se ve nada deconecta sensores empezando por el MAP y observa tu probador si enciende la luz tienes un sensor malo arnes dañado . O simplemente desconectalo y trata de encender el vehiculo.
      Recuerda que el tamaño de el scanner no es clave para las reparaciones y tampoco es una caja magica que te va platicar todo lo que quieres saber acerca de las fallas. Codigos hasta un niño de 4 años puede sacarlos el chiste es saber leer datos y conocer los diseños en los circuitos que reparas. Tambien se puede utilizar un probador de corriente de preferencia LED.
