Because of your description of that bad wire I was able to find a faulty wire on my ignition fuse that was not letting me get fuel pressure. Thank you for the video
Thanks man. Your video helped figure out what was wrong with my 89 s10 blazer with 4.3 tbi. I wiggled a cluster of wires that has that pink wire in it and she fired right up. Thanks for the video I even saved it
I recently purchased a 1992 GMC Topkick c6000 with a 366 6.0 gasoline engine and it turns ON but will not stay ON. I have to quickly step on and off of the gas pedal repeatedly for it to idle. It won't idle otherwise. I replaced the IAC, fuel pressure regulator, throttle body injector o-rings, sprayed the injectors and ports, fuel pump and strainer but still the same results. As I pump the pedal I was told there is fuel at the injectors but it is weak and to clean them out which I believe I already did. I gave up but will revisit it again someday. Thank you for the video as it encourages me to return to the GMC.
Great video. Me and my son are going to tackle is 92 K2500 tbi crank no start no pulse. Just a dash of starting fluid and it's fired off and running. Got the 700r4 in pieces on the bench rebuilding it for no reverse.
that pink wire at the ECM is powered by a fuse in the panel ,,,,I found the fuse was GOOD but no power to the ECM, pulled panel and the wire terminal on the back of the fuse panel was bad going to the ECM!!! repaired terminal, got power to ECM and injector pulse
That is a big block 454 (not small block). No pulse = ICM issue, or wiring between ICM and PCM. The ICM/PCM grounds at/near the T-stat front of intake. Should be a metal bracket that bolts to the T-stat housing. No power to the pink/black wire makes me believe it's the ignition switch (base of steering column backside) Quite a bit of electrical passes thru it and it's known to go bad. For the injectors to pulse the ICM must be functioning.
The TBI ECM uses no chassis grounds, or does it? All the cables that go out of the ECM go directly to sensors, ICM and injectors. There's more than 20 wires coming out of that box.
@@soupflood It grounds via the mounting bracket screws and at various sensor/s. It is also a good idea to replace the engine to chassis frame ground cable if it hasn't been replaced.
Why can't you ground the aluminum body? Aluminum conducts electricity. It's used for electrical wire. The distributor grounds at the tie down , I'm sure there's a point during the backlash the distributor gear may not be positively in contact with the cam gear. Do they even make a steel housing distributor, all my OEM distributors are aluminum.
#jabothemechanic Got a question? You said you also replaced the computer, I also am experiencing the same issue on my 95 Chevy Silverado Z71. It will run really good for about a hour until it gets hot then the injectors will stop spraying. I assume the distributor pick-up coil inside distributor but do you think the computer is getting hot and shutting the injectors off. It's just odd. I had it towed home and went back outside the next morning and it fired right up
So in my 89 Cadillac Seville sts TBI ( after I got know where) I remembered the guy I bought it from after he put a new battery in poured some gas in the throttle body to get it started. So at this point I thought what could it hurt ? I tried it and sure enough after your battery is unhooked or Dies in the caddy Chevy 350 anyway. You Have to poor q but of gas directly into the throttle body . It started right up and has ran fine ever since . Go figure
I had the same problem on my 1994 g3500 with a 454 ! I was not getting any power at all to injectors after hours of searching for the right diagram the injectors get power from the transmission circuit
Any ideas on an intermittent injector pulse? Starts and runs good just sometimes it will randomly not fire the passenger side injectors I replaced them last night in hopes it would fix it no such luck I wiggled the wiring harness and quickly looked over the wiring
i'm having an issue that i cant solve. The injector on the drivers side works perfectly, the other stays open 100% and floods the engine. it cranks, starts, and runs, but i have to shut it off after 10-15 seconds because the idle jumps super high from the excess fuel. yesterday it caught the exhaust on fire. Any info would be super helpful. thank you
Actually, world products makes a 427, and a 454 displacement small block. I had a 427 small block. I don't think this guy knows what he is talking about though.
I have a customer with a 1994 Chevy p30 motor home with a 454 with TBI, having same issue with no injector pulse, got full 12v coming from both wires of the injector but not pulsing. I can manually ground it with my power probe but obviously it floods the engine but it does start. But I what I found funny is that the previous crackhead mechanic that got it running before me had THE EXACT SAME WIRE AND FUSE setup to the back of the alternator to B+ but couldn’t figure it out as to why that was there!! Wth is that wire?? My alldata is for passenger vehicles not trucks and heavy duty vehicles so wiring diagrams are a pain to find. Please HELP!!!
Question I tried the 9v batteri truck I get spark but no fuel any idea what else can it be it only fires up with starting fluid there is no fuel coming out the injectors
I have a 1991 Chevy Silverado 2500 gas 5.7 . There is power to the TBI , however , there's no pulse. Truck cranks but won't start. It did Start & drove, but after parking, it no longer starts. Can you help?
When I take the distributor out of the engine I can turn it and it fires gas from the injectors and is sparking from the coil, however when I place the distributor back into the engine and crank it, the injectors no longer spray fuel. PLZ SOMEONE S.O.S
Come on guys, ok since you guys seem to know everything why don't you tell us what's the problem. The situation that I have is that my truck turns on fine and I can drive anywhere but if I turn it off, it won't turn back on until 20 or 30 minutes. Replaced pickup coil, ignition control module, fuel pump and fuel pump relay. Any ideas ? 87 chevy silverado
I have a 1991 Silverado 2500 gas 5.7. With the same problem. I replaced the fuel pump assembly, in line fuel filter , & fuel relay . It cranks but no start. There's power to the TBI but no pulse . It starts once or twice a day ,then , no pulse. Unfortunately,a previous owner wired two switches under the dash, one is a 5 amp breaker toggle switch , which powers the second toggle switch, which powers ???
I think it's your electronic control module. I ended up swapping my distributor and resolved all my issues. So the Tbi is not going to send send fuel if the electronic control module is not working. That's why people think it's the fuel pump.
@2:33 my camaro throttle body 1&2 have no light come on when I light test the fuse box. #1 #2 will not light up. No fuel coming through throttle body...what do you think about that?
More likely than not it's the ICM if you test light everything especially check the relay first if you look it up on TH-cam. But if the relay is good for the fuel pump then you have a ICM problem. But check the injectors first to see if they fire with a power supply

Good video 👍, i like how informative you are vs other videos on the webs , thanks
Check the ignition module!!!!!!
If you don't have a scope use an analog meter and watch for needle bounce

check where the fuse plugs in connector is broken or in bad shap ,this happened on my astro van repaired broken wire going to fuse runs now
He obviously just misspoke, you nerds
You're really a creative man.
Thanks man I have the exact same issue with my Chevy P30 ran it direct and the injectors started pumping
I have a 89 caddy no pulse . What did you do ? Run a jumper wire? Appreciate the help ty

My same problem. But one has stopped completely
could you upload the ECU diagram somewhere, please?
Also, does the positive of the alternator output DC rather than AC?
Hey so at the end when u said tht pink n black wire goes to a fuse did u ever find tht fuse? And did tht fix the problem?
this worked for me, it was getting like 10.8v and ran with 12.4v. now it won't stay running, going to check fuel pressure. very annoying wiring
My problem is the injectors spray constantly causing it to not run by flooding it
Look at the throttle position sensor
Listen the 454 big or small what ever your focusing on the wrong part of the story man pay attention to the story that being told
Tell me why you can't use aluminum for a ground again ? useful info for the guy loading the parts cannon

What is you only have pulse to one injector and not the other ?
Jabo how could a gummy dirty ignition switch at the key cause the pulse to quit ? 1991 Chevy k1500 5.7
Thats not an HEI. Hei has the coil in the cap and was used 1974 to 1987. If youre posting help videos, get the facts straight.

That's not a hei distributor.hei has the coil in top of the cap
Yes but it's still an HEI ignition System.

Lol. I meant to say big block
Replace the whole distributor or can you just do cap and button

Sounds like you have the same problem as this guy, broken wire or connector or you have a bad ground.
At least you had a spare pcm to rule that out, I hate electrical issues!
Vapor locked maybe?
"It's been a while....it's been like a week since I looked at the wiring diagram" 😂😂😂
I belive the injector grounds out to pulse
How did you manage to find that it was that pink/black wire? Did you test them all?
In the wiring diagram shows powers and grounds
