Francis Chan is, in part, responsible for my conversion to the Catholic Church. I have prayed on and off for his conversion ever since. I’m on board. Incidentally, he was on the Ascension App just a few days ago, speaking with Jeff Cavins. He’s close. Correction: he was on the Hallow app, not the Ascension app.
@@JiII_S He’s on Pray 25 on the Hallow app with Jeff Cavins. I think it’s every Friday thru Advent so far. They do some reflections every Friday where Cavins introduces and Chan reflects on scripture. They’re pretty good and he talks about faith and works and takes a traditional Catholic approach on that too. Haven’t heard of him til now but he seems to have some profound insight on the scriptures
I love how you said “we’re probably going to get blamed for idolatry, Mary worship, etc. -I get it” There really comes a point in the catholic walk where it’s like we know your arguments and it just doesn’t faze us what you think. Now where’s my rosary so I can pray for you.
@@FleefromROME- Really! You do realize that without the Catholic Church there is no Bible. Oh I get it when you disagree with what a Pastor interprets in the Bible you get to jump to another sect!! 🤔
Super pumped to see this. My husband and I started RCIA in October and we are officially accepted in at Easter. We both grew up protestant and love Francis Chan!
Thank you! On it. Love this guy. Only listened to him once and fell in love with him immediately. And then was so sad to find out he wasn't Catholic. And never watched him again til this little clip. Wonderful movement.
I don’t know much about the catholic faith. Please forgive my ignorance. How do you justify the veneration of Mary? Is it simply because she gave birth to Jesus? Why pray to her at all? Why isn’t praying to Jesus enough? I’m assuming that you don’t believe in sola scriptura? Is the rosary based on scripture or tradition of the church?
@@tylerscales2396 scripture can have many different meanings that can all be true at the same time. Different scholars will say different things. I’d suggest looking at some church fathers. So sure it may be speaking about Israel but it is very obviously speaking about Mary and alluding way back to the proto evangellium in Genesis 3:15. To justify prayer to saints and obviously Mary you have to see how prayer is looked at through the Catholic lens. I was Protestant before becoming Catholic and that is what made me understand why it is okay to ask Mary and Saints for intercessory prayer. Hope this helps! God Bless

I am Catholic and I love this honest question. It's a relationship between you and your mother. If your Father is God and Jesus our brother and at the cross in the Gospel of John he gives John his mother and at that moment he took her in and cared for her. It's an invitation for us to have a relationship with Jesus'mother who is our mother and it takes time for an intellectual understanding but It might take more time for it to sink into your heart. I think you are on the right path my brother. For I grew up Catholic and grew up praying the rosary and didn't get it until later on in life I was able to understand the blessings poured up on me thanks to the rosary. May God bless you! And remember it's always about Jesus!
I’d recommend Brant Pitre’s book “Jesus and the Jewish roots of Mary” but also the Catechism of the Catholic Church is an excellent resource for most questions you’d have about Catholicism.
SIMPLY because she was chosen to give birth to the Word Incarnate, the God Mad Man? Do you hear yourself? As someone else said, read Brant Pitre's book if you really want to learn. There is a lot to address in your comment, but off the top of my head- the Jewish Queen Mother (and that's what Mary is, since Jesus is King) was intercessor of the people (see 1 Kings 2:15-18) and the king bowed to her and put her at this right side (1 Kings 2:19) so it is her place to make intercessions on behalf of His people. That is what we do when we pray to her.

After the Eucharist, I think the Rosary is the most powerful and incredible gift the Catholic Church has given the world.
Confession.
"Worship of the Eucharist...the CULT of adoration"(Catechism 1378) is pure idolatry. Poor Catholics! They're lost in their pagan religion.
