I’d had my GT for 9 months - its an amazing car…ive had 911’s an rs6 an f10 m5 and it just beats them all hands down, yes a different driving experience but so effortlessly quick in wet or dry and will tootle around if you need it !

It's _sort of_ like an E63, M5 or RS6... no one 'needs' ~600hp from a family car, but it's fun! When the opportunity arises, planting your foot and watching the scenery blur past is fun :D This is Kia having a laugh.

I have an ev6 gt just put over 10,000 miles on it in 6 months no regrets with it at all. Had a few scary moments in gt and collected 3 points when blipped it for a second to clear some traffic to get back in slow lane. The regen braking is unbelievable and hardly have to touch brake pedal. On inspection at 10k only 5% of brake pad wear and 6mm front 5mm rear tyre tread still remaining.

Thanks, I have the GTS line AWD and it spends nearly all its life in Eco mode, I find sport mode unpleasant and only use it to demonstrate to friends how fast it is. The loss of range really puts me off, and I suspect those 21 inch wheels will make the drive a bit harsh, never mind the cost of tyres. Mine with 20 inch wheels will cost £1000 to replace all 4, but boy do they look cool.
My EV6 is by far the best car I have ever owned, I previously had a Niro and the front wheels were always spinning and slipping when pulling out of a junction, the EV6 AWD only really uses all AWD when it is needed, and I have never had any wheel spin.

I find my Kia E Niro lives in ECO mode in the winter, saves the tyres and keeps it safer. The EV6 GT would be crazy as an everyday car and the very low efficiency puts me off. I love the idea of a super fast car, but sense takes over. Great review.

My Taycan has the same issue with tyres on full lock. It’s called the Ackerman affect and common on performance cars in winter. On my car it occurs below 10C ambient temperature and goes away when the tyres warm up. My tyres and maybe also the EV6 are summer tyres and in winter we are supposed to fit winter tyres. Summer tyres have a lot less grip in winter and also the braking performance is worse.

Very good review. In typical Yorkshire winter weather. When I drove an EV6 AWD I never thought, "what this needs is another 256bhp". Driving you Mii quickly would be more fun as you could find the limits without a big accident or a lot of points.

    • @IanMcc1000

I have the RWD, which is great. Maximum range out of any of the models available and gets you where you need to go as quickly as possible. Very occasionally I wish I had the AWD (really bad weather). Even the RWD will spin it's tyres in cold weather in the wet (in sport mode), but the TC is amazingly good at bringing you into line. The problem is, you can't test it's limits on the road.

I have the EV6 GT LINE S. and trust me that’s well quick enough and you still get a good range plus the extras like the electric seats and sun roof. As with all cars the more power you have the less range you get that goes for petrol or electric. I drive mine in eco mode in winter and normal in Sumer time and only use sport mode when I need that quick overtake.

If you drive a normal road car 20+ laps on a circuit at speed you will wear out all your suspension, steering rack, brakes and tyres.

Interesting review. I can honestly say I've never experienced all four wheels losing traction, or that feeling of spinning of into a hedge in my model 3 performance , track mode means I can dial some character if I want to and I love a Q car . So I agree with EVM, the kia seems too compromised for the sake of pub bragging rights. For the same money if you didn't want a tesla the Ioniq 5 N might be worth a look.

That's cos tesla has the best traction control. I live in central norway, and everywhere is ice and snow right now. If i stamp the power on a sheet of ice the wheels scrabble for about quarter of a revolution and then the just rolls forward. It's truly amazing in winter conditions.

You could disable the movement in the setting on the EV6. The entry and exit isn't needed so much with my flat bottom wheel on my GT. I don't mind the manual seats cause I'm the only driver. I got laying back quick with the handle as well. Now just putting it back is semi hard to get the right setting again.

Now at just over one year of ownership. May well sell it soon, issues I find irratating, low speed steering judder, crap turning circle and apalling range. Two weks ago when there was a bit of snow around a 113 mile trip at motorway adaptive cruising at national speed limit, light traffic resulted in arriving with 17 miles left after a 90% charge. IN ECO MODE. Otherwise a nice drive.

Those tyres look thinner than cling film. What use if you are shaken to bits over normal roads, while also worrying about curbing those expensive wheels. As a look-back, interesting to compare to the VW GTi. The GTi was widely usable in many weather conditions and still cool as a family car. For the rich, the Golf R reportedly did the same. I don't really see the point of 500hp plus monsters on UK roads. So the only reason for owning on is for track days. If you have the money to go and burn through a set of tyres every weekend at the track then fair enough other than that totally pointless. Standard EV6 has more than enough power for 99.99% of the population. This car is very niche and there are better options in that sector.
