I really respect Russell for chatting with those homeless people, most people are so uncomfortable around visible poverty like that. But they're still people.
"Get some flowers in, mate!" Matt deserves more credit. He is so hilarious. Everything he says just makes me smile. Also he has a good influence on Russell who is only funny when he is around Matt. The Pirate Has Spoken
Unfortunately the man that runs the corner was recently struck by a runaway car driven by a crack addict and killed. There are now flowers on that corner.
He never wanted to learn because it's different in England, not to mention, he was always high on drugs and alcohol. Plus now, he can't be bothered. I don't mean that in a snotty way, but being concerned with getting there and when is just beyond him. Love the way he loves Sondra here. He is so lovely.
I loved it when Russ said, "I ain't just appeared now I've live a life up until now." He thinks he can coach Russell in crack addicts. On a side note, Matt seems really familiar to me, like people I know or something. I feel like he could come over my house and we'd eat and watch movies and just get along. Excellent American accent this time. Johnny CASH!
Those two hitchhikers, make me envious. They're living a life that we read about. I mean when they said they see things out here that you'll never see anywhere else they were right. I mean shit partying one night, in a truck with Russel the next.
1:00 I'm much surprised Russel so likes the preachers. "He doesn't run it very well, everyone's fucking homeless!" lol. "Treacherous driving". His word choice is quite good. and I like the Johnny Cash song.
i think you've got it exactly right there kayteekakes. russ and matt connect so well...russell is a brilliant comedian and just generally hillarious but when with matt on this and on the radio it's so funny it actually hurts. i think it's because they are really close friends and it's all just very natural, especially love the bits when they can't stop laughing together. the show wouldn't be the same if russell did it without matt... both extremely hillarious (and very gorgeous & sexy) men! x
Not saying he's Jesus (which unfortunately, due to some "blasphemous" jokes he's made needs to be clarified) but there's a part in the Bible that talked about how Jesus touched people who were sick and bad off and how much that mattered to them. And I thought about that when I watched this. I think Russell gets that from his mother.
@baconsplace But is it not right to give them the only enjoyment they have in life, if it makes each hellish day that little bit more bearable for them then that's not a bad thing in my eyes.
If you love Kerouac like myself and Russell, check out my new book Road Trippn' (by Sean McLaughlin), a tribute to Jack; youth; Freedom; Love; God; sex, drugs, rock'n'roll and America set across the country and culminating in the streets of NYC, a month prior to the attacks of 9/11. Check it out at Amazon.com and support another working class artist from one of America's other former industrial glory towns - Cleveland this carnation around instead of Lowell. - John McParadise
I have watched some of his stand up online and it is funny, but most of it is just sex jokes and shouting, isn't it? I'm not a hater, I think Russell's one of the most funny and original people alive, but I think they work better as a duo. TPHS
I believe him when he says he's social worker, I guess, because what a weird thing to lie about, but does he sit there all day and make sure people don't give them money?
I love how all women from all different backgrounds want to jump Russells bones! Why doesn't Russell drive at all? I wonder why he never wanted to learn.. There Crazy picking up hitch hikers,, They obviously haven't seen that movie .. The Hitch hiker lol
I really respect Russell for chatting with those homeless people, most people are so uncomfortable around visible poverty like that. But they're still people.
this is really well planned, russell and matt are perfect for a kerouac documentary. thanks again for putting this up.
Cool music on this doc...Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, the White Stripes! Loving it!

Those two hitchhikers, make me envious. They're living a life that we read about. I mean when they said they see things out here that you'll never see anywhere else they were right. I mean shit partying one night, in a truck with Russel the next.
"I've been stuck in a car with that sarcastic nit for days now..."

"I'm the man."
"No, you're *a* man."
What version of Satisfaction is that?
Song at 7:13, can anyone please tell me?
So true...I rather feed them today. Like the lady said, were human....and someone who does drugs, will do it either way no matter how rich or poor

"I'm the guy who handles this corner for the city of Denver." How does one become a "corner handler"? Was it a career choice? What a jerk!
Peanut butter

Why would a SOCIALworker even say something like that ?
Maybe he wasn't a socialworker after all....
"That big oaf social worker" is typical of lots of Americans. Hope the British public doesn't allow people like that to develop in their country.
the things i would do to this man...
I love how all women from all different backgrounds want to jump Russells bones!
Why doesn't Russell drive at all? I wonder why he never wanted to learn..
There Crazy picking up hitch hikers,, They obviously haven't seen that movie .. The Hitch hiker lol
