My hopes for the next one:
    - more villager species
    - more personalities
    - both genders can have the same personality ( lazy female, peppy male ecc)
    - more variety with rudeness and general dialogue, have em not like me at first like a normal person ( we don't know each others yet)
    - actual biomes to choose from
    - being able to interact with items, like bikes, skateboards or idk, breach balls to play with the villagers
    - more vivid multyplayer

    • @amygirl5678
      @amygirl5678 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +18

They didn't abandon it. They had a plan for it and when they reached the end of that plan. development on it ended. It was never meant to be an open-ended live service constantly updated game and so it wasn't one.
They had no idea how big it would be because they couldn't have foreseen the Pandemic and its impact on the game's sales and popularity. So any team that would have been involved with a longer live service/more updates type game was already put to work on other projects and it likely made more sense to continue forward with whatever schedule they already had in place and plan for the next AC Title rather than to pivot the team back to New Horizons.

this. finally someone who has common sense. in contrary i actually feel bad for nintendo. New horizons is a successful, stand-alone, traditional one time purchase game as it should be, yet these maniacs are so entitled asking for more like as if it was intended as a live service model. they want it to be like sims with endless dlcs or updates milking it for their buck. its so pathetic. im so tired of the whinging, the constant unsatisfaction that the "fanbase" has. its a very good and succesful entry and one of the best ones in the series. they delivered what is promised and everyone got their money's worth. the entitlement is just crazy to see.

I personally think that the success of the last game means we know even less about the next game. I think it's even making things uncertain internally. Animal Crossing compared to most of Nintendo's top selling games wasn't a bundled game so that means it might very well be in their top 3 for highest grossing games ever. So the question is how do you follow up on that? Do you double down on the potential gold mine or do you assume it was a fluke and continue business as usual?

It makes me sad because I've started playing 3ds games more and happy home designer is great, i actually picked up new leaf to try on my next long trip. I was just disappointed to hear that i can't change my skin colour to suit me more, and in 2013 no less? The huge lack of customisation is a big shock, i hope they get the balance just right next time.

I've bought every Animal Crossing game when they were new. I grew up with this series. I hope the next game is like the pre-Horizons ones, as in having actual gameplay instead of being *Animal Designer: Dollhouse Simulator*. I'm all for design and I love the new character customization options, but it shouldn't replace everything else (ie shop upgrades, fantastical/quirky furniture, old Gyroids, etc).
I hope tool durability doesn't return. It makes sense on a deserted island. Still can't believe they removed axes visually degrading as they got closer to breaking. I hope we get hair longer than shoulder length. Realistic furniture is good, but I'd rather have them sit alongside the oddball furniture pieces from the older games! Remember how the froggy chair wasn't included at launch?

@@squiddu I was listing removed content. I can't get back into New Horizons because there's barely anything to do but design and decorate. In New Leaf, it always felt like there was something next to work towards, such as a new store upgrade which will sell new items, or working towards a golden tool with unique abilities. I was surprised when I first saw the upgraded Nooklings store selling K.K. songs! In New Horizons, there's just the first store upgrade, and that's it. You have so few ways of obtaining items compared to NL that it feels like you don't have much choice-- and unlike in New Leaf, you can't recolor something that you bought from the store even if a different color of it exists! The unique abilities that silver and gold tools offered gave the game more depth, but in New Horizons, we don't even have silver tools, and gold ones are just slightly more durable (except the watering can, which has more range iirc). Silver axes let you get special tree stumps to get mushrooms, golden shovels boosted fertilizer potency, better slingshots shot more pellets-- imagine if we could make mushroom farms in New Horizons!

My ideal Animal Crossing game is a combination of New Leaf and New Horizons. Whenever I go back to NL I miss NH's QoL features. Simple stuff like Bells automatically going into your wallet when you pick them up. A version of NL that keeps NH's QoL, outdoor decorating (but make it easier like in HHP), cooking and farming, and character customization would be a perfect game to me. Maybe instead of selecting a map at the start we could just design our own, choosing where we want rivers and hills and such.

New Leaf is such an important game to me because it was my first ever animal crossing game. I remember playing it every single day for multiple years! New Horizons has such a different feel thats hard to describe, they added really cool stuff but i feel like they really missed the mark for most fans! I think they should add ruder dialog(lol), bring back older characters (gracie pls..), and really refine everything before a new game comes out. I think it all comes down to listening to fans. The biggest bummer is the fact that it really feels like Nintendo gave up on NH after a few months. It could have been the best game in the franchise but they played too safe imo.

Ok i got some wishes so let me list them.
    1. Definitely keep the customisation-able freedom of New Horizon.
    2. Bring back stronger personalities for neighbours! And give them back some independence - especially abt the moving part…
    3. Expand. It’d be /amazing/ if you could start in a town like ACNL, but be able to maybe unlock new places - for example repair or unlock a bridge to an island that you can design as well? Add a (bigger) city where the main street in ACNL is and make it more customisable as well (e. g. Change the exteriors or like in HHD design a store or place of your choice).
    4. Keep it walkable though - no cars or anything. I think the accessibility of the game, the village-y feel of it is what makes it so enchanting. It has to be confined, and familiar.
    4. Maybe add more fun daily events? Bring back april fool’s day! Add fun celebrations! Maybe some achievements throughout your longtime gameplay…
I think if those got added I’d buy the game and whatever console it’d be on.
The most important thing is probably to bring back the original spirit of the game - coming into a world that exists on its own already, where you learn to settle in and live - but still give the opportunity to design and create if you want to.

I definitely want items to be rotated 360 degrees or at least give us some diagonal options. Also I'm a bit torn about the car thing. It might be cool to hop on a bicycle or something. Makes the items even more alive but yes, still walkable, but not necessary to use a car because it's too far

What i would love in the next AC is support for events. I ran a Fringe Festival on ACNH in 2020, being inspired by all the people running games and talk shows and parties in game. With HHP we got a lot of performance-related furniture. It'd be great if the next AC capitalized on that! For instance - playable instruments, ability to embed your own media, some way to patch microphone input, even a license to host paid events on AC.

Two things to consider with ARMS are that…
    1. While Nintendo did deem the game a success & it sold pretty good for a new fighting game franchise, it’s also not a system-seller. ARMS is more along the lines of a Xenoblade-tier franchise (or Pikmin outside of Japan).
    2. Because of that last fact, ARMS 2 could follow Pikmin 4’s lead & be outsourced to a third-party developer. Studio 2 (the other Bandai Namco x Nintendo team who have a history of working with EPD 9, with Studio S seemingly working on Smash 6) is working on a 3D action game with “remastered backgrounds”. While most automatically assumed that the game itself is a remaster, it could very well be ARMS 2 with some stages returning from the first game while EPD 9 proper works on Mario Kart 10.
Back to Animal Crossing, I 100% agree that 2025 will be when we get the next AC entry.

Would love some sort of mix between New Leaf and New Horizon based on the new leaks. Like a main city you can reach via bus like in city volk. You move to a small city with maybe three other villagers, a townhall etcs as you help the town flurish into something bigger, convincing people from the city (shopkeepers) to move to your village. You get to pick where they place their shops and get top pick the location of houses again plus plots. Plots are place connected to the house in forms of tiles that sort of form the garden area around the townies houses in which they place their own stuff and decorate based on their personality etc. Allowing you to still decide where to have what and how the plots are formed layout wise while giving back the freedom of your fellow neighbours to express their own will when it comes to their gardens and houses.

You would still need to head to the city for stuff as permits etc or the adsh or even immonook, but step by step you make your town more indepent by getting the museum (or maybe something else), nooks shop, able sisters as well as new stuff like an independ garden center.

Games are getting bigger and better. There is a lot to Animal crossing now and I think its going to take more time if we wanna see quality upgrades. Sure, it could come out sooner but then there might not be many changes (same furniture, etc). If we want a brand new, reinvisioned AC game we're gonna need to wait a bit. ACNH still has a lot to offer and can still be enjoyed for another 2 years. Spring 2026 at the earliest, but I wouldn't be surprised if they released it in 2027.

animal crossing is my special interest so it holds a very near and dear place in my heart; however, i don't think it's realistic to expect a new mainline game anytime in the next few years. the switch was released in 2017 and new horizons didn't come out until three years later, meaning if the switch 2 DOES come out this year then we'll likely be waiting another few years for another main AC game. it's also important to note that 1) the switch 2 will definitely be backwards compatible, and 2) new horizons is a HUGE game, even with everything missing from previous games, and is nearly twice as large as new leaf was. ACNH is definitely not my favourite animal crossing game, but i think we're going to be stuck with it for a while longer

it would be really cool to see the next animal crossing title expand into something like a city building kind of game -- it doesn't have to be too big, just enough to where you can see a lot of different villagers come and go, since there's so many at this point :) we kind of got a taste with city folk, but i always wished the plaza would just be a little bigger and more interactive. i like the coziness of being in a small town, but it'd be nice to see the series take a different kind of step!

I would love to see AC ultimate with every special characters returning plus a couple new ones! I would also love to see an expanded city feature like city folk but much much bigger. Living in a small town with a train or subway station being the mode of transportation.
Some cute features I think would be fun:
    1. More elongated character story like talking to sable every day
    2. More events like farmers market in the summer or lights viewing around Christmas and new years
    3. Less design focused play (but still optional for those who love that)
    4. Better villager dialog and centering on building relationships
    5. New collectible features in the museum or in another store (for example, Leif owns a greenhouse you can fill with hybrid flowers you grow yourself)

  • @GtotheOria
    @GtotheOria 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

This is a great video and I agree with your theories. To add more evidence to it, with the ACNH DLC they added HD (as HD as the switch can get I guess) character models for every single amiibo card, including NPCs like Chip, Nat, etc. That's a LOT of work for just some random characters a tiny population of the playerbase would see because they had the amiibos to use in the roost/happy home paradise. So they absolutely laid the groundwork for a bigger title, for sure. I just hope they add in more of the life sim elements the original games had. That said, I think that it's also important to note that not only was ACNH a console seller - it was a console seller to an audience that is mostly untapped by other consoles. Extremely casual (non)gamers. (I say 'non' in the context of these folks probably never touching games before outside of maybe some light mobile gaming.) Even people's moms and grandmas were picking up switches to play ACNH and even better, they STUCK WITH it for years. I have no doubt that influx of more casual (non)gamers helped sell other franchises that are historically less popular, like pikmin 4. I don't think a casual gamer would buy a switch to play pikmin 4 because they likely had no idea it existed. But if they already had a switch because they got in on the ACNH craze, and they see pikmin 4 in the eshop and think it looks neat, they might give it a shot and enjoy it. That's a key aspect to ACNH's value that I think Nintendo probably took into account. The game was not only a console seller, it was also a console INTRODUCER/influencer which in turn became a franchise seller. Now I know Nintendo has made some bizarre decisions in the past, but it would be obscenely silly for them to not continue to cash in on this craze. Now you have old school AC fans like me desperate for a new game, but you've got a bunch of people who likely miss the community around the game and would love a chance to experience that again, even without covid. If they don't release a new AC within a year of the new console launching, I will be absolutely boggled. At the very least, if they want to ensure they give the switch 2 some time to breathe and sell enough units before they release a game that is so crucially multiplayer for 60% of its experience, they need to give ACNH an HD patch to tide everyone over and release the new game in early 2026. TY for this video. I was one of the few people left posting 'take my energy' every time Nintendo had a direct before they announced ACNH. I have no doubt that there's much more of us out there now.

Be nice if they brought stuff back from New Leaf(city section for more store areas & to feel like we have more places to explore, minigames from Welcome Amiibo) & maybe just bring back dialogue from Wild World cause that made it feel so lively & brought depth to some characters.(Cranky villagers acting grumpy/annoyed but showing moments that they care about you, that dialogue that implies the normal villagers have a mop they turned into a makeshift friend to practice socializing on) Maybe find a way to bring old characters back, they don't need to be doing their jobs(well maybe the bird characters in the imagined city section) but give them somewhere to be/hang out that isn't just a random chance at the Brewster's place & doesn't involve amiibos. Also bring back villagers actually responding to the letters you sent cause you can send on in NH & they can send one but it's never in response to you if you send something.

    my wishlist:
    - better villager dialogue
    - being able to customize your island base better! it sucks if I find a design for an island that I like but their river mouth is on the opposite side of mine!
    - bring back all the old villagers and furniture sets (there's only like 30 villagers missing from NH so it shouldn't be too tricky)
    - more store npcs and upgrades! what if city folk had NH's level of customizability?
    - minigames or more interactivity! what if you could buy items from vending machines, or actually ride the bike or surf on the surfboard!
    - personalities aren't gender-specific--I want cranky girls and peppy males! why are all the male personalities so aggressive?
    - better local and ONLINE multiplayer (so player 2 isn't just running around)
    - maybe an option for gender-neutral dialogue when talking about the player? wouldn't personally use this but the fact it's one of the most popular mods for the game says a lot!
    - if they bring back crafting, please...let us bulk craft! and no gold tools breaking!

as for what i hope for, i loved the customization and building aspect of the game, i just felt like that til the game felt unfinished til they released the dlc with all the items. so they should release with at minimum as much items and stuff in game as they ended with, and then continue adding more to the game in future dlcs even if paid
and please please add a whole bunch of pocket camp items and such, they could allow even more customization on our items with all the tree items and flowers and such that everyone islands could really show our personalities even more

Also would love mini games and more stuff to be able to do with friends cuz I love having people visit my island but we have nothing to do together. Giving us some more NPCs would be great. I loved the Harv’s island RV feature that was added. And more stuff to unlock through interaction only (like the hairstyles with Harriet) would be fun. I'm excited for what's next with animal crossing. New norizons was my first from the series so I might be a little biased, but it's genuinely my favourite video game of all time. I love the community aspect of it and designing my island is my creative output these days. It's an integral part of my day at this point. But i do agree with the criticism, it's getting a little boring. So I'm excited for whats coming, i love animal crossing so much I hope they saw how obsessed people became with it during the pandemic and try to give us something big and juicy. Like others I'm hoping for a blend of new leaf and new horizons. I hope Nintendo really has their ear to the ground and saw that people were nostalgic for the older dialogue. I think the series could really benefit from incorporating more throwbacks and get people interested in the older games in the series. More than anything i just hope we have way more items to play with and more customization options. and if it doesn't include a way to toggle between the land and water shovel during construction I'm gonna eat my switch so they put me on the news and complain about it.

This idea has been discussed among players for a long time now, and yeah, that would be a great way to do something new and interesting with Animal Crossing, but will they do it? I don't think so, but we can hope.

I think going to space would be a cool idea but the main game shouldn't change it's formula

I see it being a right-before Christmas release with the new console it's self. I know I'm not going to want to upgrade from the switch without a new game that I'm interested in and unless TOTK was just a tie-over to a secret project then we aren't going to be seeing a Zelda soon. Mario.. well he has so many games to him that I haven't even gotten to play yet. It feels like AC would be the most likely release game. I somewhat hope it is almost city based because we have a game where we can visit a city but not one where we can build in one. It can be a farm to small town to apartment complexes although that may be a bit bothersome to have the whole theme to be based on making a city but maybe a city block you can develop would be fun or at least choose to build complex buildings. Hoping that maybe you'd be able to design and upgrade your own shops. We get a taste of this in the current game.
The DLC to NH gave us a lot of creativity without the need to reset an island for a clean canvas. There is a personal desire to do landscaping in the vacation homes plots as well so it could be a fun feature. I don't want a game without nature of course that's why I'm thinking maybe a game with several locations to visit instead of a full on city because that is too far away from the original charm.
I'd like to see it laid out like you get a city map to place down some plots and maybe edit the streets in an overview. You get a museum, cafe, restaurant, boutique, general store, grocery store, a bank ... you know all the essentials but also an apartment complex for the main characters? Imagine putting together an apartment for Isabell or Digby and upgrades in the home improve something in their business? but then you have a town and country side location. The countryside you can grow your produce and flowers, go fishing ect go camping! For real this time and not just for 2 weeks of gameplay because your need to unlock things progresses the game so fast that you don't really feel the need to rough it. Then you have a town you're developing. Can be a bit of a call back to new leaf but you have more hands on the development of each section. I do also like the idea of a randomized house location as an -option-
No matter what they do I hope you can store crafting items in the actual work bench as an unlockable (probably a good achievement that takes a bit) just for quality of life and I'm obsessed with organization.
IDK if that counts as a prediction or just daydreaming lol but it would be fun. Who knows, the next AC could be a world tour.. wait they already did that. Animals in space?

In the next Animal Crossing I really just want a difficulty level / mode where you don't have to worry about making money: one where you can just progress the story normally, but money is never a worry, all you have to focus on is your island / town. New Horizons was my first game, and although I loved it so much I really just wish players like me would be catered to, cause I frankly don't like the big grind.
I'd prefer this mode not compromising on anything either, so for example all money earning activities just existing for the purpose of fun / quests, and online play still being allowed.

It’s very unfortunate that Nintendo after these past couple years hasn’t even pumped out ANYTHING for NH. It’s very strange and I hope we get something soon ! Great video btw !!

Another good point is that during the pandemic, the Switch was completely sold out everywhere. The culprit? Animal Crossing. Zelda en Mario are already known on Nintendo, Mario more so than Zelda probably. Animal Crossing opened up a huge group of new players. I think a lot of new people even bought the switch purely for ACNH. Having a new AC during the launch of the Switch successor should be logical. But then again, it's Nintendo.

I got into this game super late. I wish I knew about it during pandemic. I got it a few weeks ago. I love it alot. I wish the villagers had dialog as they once were with being snoody and rude. Maybe they could make it an option to have the villagers nice or rude or maybe a mix. I like the game alot so far and a newbie so I cannot relate to this game getting old because I literally just played.

As excited as I am for the new game, I'm going to try to wait at least 6 months before buying it. I can live with updates if we're actually getting something new and/or improving gameplay. The fact that NPCS (Redd and Lief) and swimming were unavailable at launch is inexcusable.
Jack, Zipper and the others I can understand (even if I still disagree) because they're holiday-specific characters. The others? No excuse. None.

I wouldn't be mad if they didn't change much of the graphics- for me the game is great with design already, maybe a few nooks and crannies to patch up. For me, it's about gameplay now, the NPCs, dialogue, events, interactions with other guests and villagers etc. I've played since launch and while i do still play now it for sure just feels incredibly empty and lifeless. Is it pretty, can I make my island beautiful, sure - but that isn't enough now.

Gonna be honest animal crossing is the only game where I don't want them to make a new game addition and instead maybe add some more DLCs, because you have to start from scratch every time but what I really want is just more content more furniture more villagers more events etc. Might just be me.

and that Animal Crossing New Horizons wasn't made in 2023 when I came out but in 2020, so three years have already passed for Animal Crossing New Horizons!Times go by really quickly but the video is nice!
