I'm a little late to the party, but thought I'd add a couple comments.
The '77, '78, and '79 Ranchero, Cougar, LTD II, Thunderbird, and Mark V all shared the same chassis, which was basically a Torino. 460 and C6 are pretty much a bolt-in. (E4OD also with very little mods). Torino (and some Mustang) headers same.
Nobody has mentioned the Cougar grille swap.
I bought the LTD II version for a 460 swap for myself, but some random dude decided that he didn't want to check his mirrors for a lane change and totalled it. I thought about replacing it with a T-bird or a Mark, but never did. So many projects, so little time.

No Headers ? That's weird .if it ran 12 flat that's moving on for a big boat like that . I for one would like to see it run now you know just to see if could be the sleeper that it could be .. a guy could make some cash if it can even get close to 12 flat . I think people would think it's a 18 car at best .

I agree that it needs headers, but a big block car with a healthy solid lifter cam, built trans with a stall converter, and 4.56 gear will be a bit quicker than 18 second quarter mile. Add the nitrous, I'm sure it would surprise some people.
