- A cylinder leak down test on this preowned Honda XR650R motorcycle revealed valve and ring damage from poor air filtration. I detail the follow-up rebuild of the top engine, including machining by L.A. Sleeve and a Stage 1 HotCams camshaft.
The details apply to similar 4-stroke thumpers. This is a solid overview of a 4-stroke, overhead camshaft motorcycle engine build. With a factory workshop manual for your motorcycle and the right tools, you can perform this work properly.
