- Everyone has an idea, their 'best' way to set up your FM save, but how much has it been tested? What amount of transfers, kinds of youth intakes, and competition sustainability do you get with different kinds of starts?

I always play with a 300k player database. My PC has to struggle as much as me for this game.
Is that even possible? i never tried to get that high i hoover around 100k.

Just done 30 years today. An incredible career with Kilmarnock, Ajax, Tottenham and Chievo Verona as well as leading Scotland to 4 World Cups and 3 European Championships.

I've been playing until 2074 once. My longest save. Managed Reading, Sigma Olomouc and then enjoyed great success after loooooong time with Huddersfield, then moved on to Freiburg where I ended.
Trophies: 6× UCL (5 Huddersfield, 1 Freiburg), 6 PL titles, 3 Bundesliga titles, 1 Championship with Huddersfield, 1 Czech Cup with Sigma, multiple cups in England (I don't remember how many, but It's been a lot)

Most I've ever done was three years. Then my laptop crashed and I lost the save. This was 5 years ago. I've only recently bought new a gaming laptop.

Ive been playing football manager since it came out on the zx spectrum. 1984 I think. I was 13. Im still crap at it. Great video.

It was releasec by addictive games, designed by Kevin Toms, so not the same, but it was the first, and kicked off (pun intended) the whole genre.
I started unemployed with no badges, and loaded in most European leagues. I got a job with Swedish Division 2 side Osterlen FF, with the task of escaping relegation. I managed to take them from 14th on 11 points to finishing 10th on 32 points. During that first season of mine, Arsenal won the EPL by a single point on the final day, Spurs came in second and City, who went into the final day leading, slipped to third place. England's top 6 were separated by no more than 2 points each.

I usually make all the big European leagues + Belgium, Portugal and the Netherlands playable and leave it at that. Now I've started to make the Brazilian and Argentinian highest division playable, but I think I will add Mexico, Japan, USA and maybe some scandinavian countries playable or view only. My laptop can certainly handle it.
Hey Zealand what do you think about adding/deleting leagues after few years into the save? There's a rumour I heard that adding/deleting leagues this way can possibly crash your save at some point. I have a journeyman save and loaded a lot of playable leagues so at the beginnig I could find a job easier but now after ten years into the future I can clearly see the leagues I won't manage in so... is it safe to delete them?
Thankfully I have a good computer. That coupled with my FOMO and FM21's improved efficiency means I play with a full database of 566,000

@fm base I use players from top division clubs from Europe and cuurent internantional players from the different continents giving me a database of around 70k
Man, I play FM since FM14 and I've definetly heard of View only leagues but never actually understood what it means and how it can benefit for my poor lil CPU

What about player development?
I've heard that youngsters won't develop as fast playing in view-only leagues. If that's true, then these view-only options wouldn't be so good if you're planning on buying and then loaning a lot of younger players.
My latest save with dagenham & redbridge, i loaded vanarma up to prem, holland league, spanish league, german league, french league, italian league, scottish league, portugal league, chinese league, russian league & usa league (only top div in all listed except english).
any drawbacks to this that you can think off?
FM Base thanks for the reply,yeah its good, says 2 stars & i have dell g5 laptop, i7 8750h, 2x8gb, just over 80000 players loaded.
i also changed default processing to minimum, now to youtube or what is my laptop highest temp so i know how much below it i am

Is it stupid to play with all leagues on playable and all advance option on max. It's around 420 000 players.. I plan to play a very long save with a team from the 8 division in Fance (with a mod) and i like to have the maximum of players to scout for many years from all over the world. Im not planing to manage outside of France. I have a big computer. But im scare to broke my save after 10-20 years. tks for your advice.

@@brianp993 - I found something on SI forum:
"Go to preferences --> game status --> manageable teams
set it to ALL." (will work only after the end of current season)
and
"Go to pref. add/remove leagues. If you can add those leagues, then they are on view only in your save."
So I have a save right now that I’m happy with, but I’m concerned I’m only getting newgens from the major European countries and South America. Can I (or would their be any benefit to) change the database in this current save to add more depth a few years down the road.
Also, I see very few newgens from African countries. Seems a bit odd.
FM Base I think I did large and tried to get most of the major leagues as playable. I tried to get at least one or two in each area. In Europe, I have most of the smaller leagues, like Austria and Switzerland. But some of the other ones I left out.
@@ZealandonYT I'm in Italy as Inter, so I have a good scouting base. I just started switching my scouts out like you suggested in another video, so maybe it just takes time.

what processor are you running to get such good performance on such a large database?
Yes without any reference point 'good (or bad) processing power' means nothing. I have a 4770k running at stock*; I have no idea how that ranks, I'm guessing it's average.
*That would make a good video, how much difference to FM does overclocking your processor make?
hi Zealand just a quick question ive got a 2.2ghz 4mb ram I only play as my club(Birmingham City)with just English leagues loaded and the rest of Europe on view only do these others leagues make transfers over time and is my setup good for a long term save 10 years plus

i wonder how quick it would be with an M2 nvme drive
M.2 SSDs are amazing. Probably the best upgrade to my pc I've made. Now they've done drives that can do 7000mb/s read speed which is insanely quick.
I have one, playing with a 381000 player database and no finding an issue, also have an i9 9900ks processor. 1/2 to 1 Star no issues seen yet
