Tips for Developing Young Players

- Wonderkids are the magic ingredient in Football Manager, but how does one capitalize on them in FM20? I break down the different types of talented young players and how to develop them into stars. Personality, mentoring, scouting, star ratings, training, loans - they all have a role to play, and that’s before the wunderkind ever touches the field.
As I do, I broke it into sections or ‘types’ of talented youngsters. There are model citizens, surprises, illusions, and everything in between. I promise it’s about to make more sense. The timing of loans and the importance of playing time are perhaps the most key instrument of all of these categories though, so keep your ears peeled for that.

Many years ago i was living in medellin for a few months. I had a football manager game going and decided to check the local team, Envigado. A 15 year old winger called James Rodriquez was in the squad, and his stats were amazing, signed him in every save. I thought he wasn't a real player .
Small tip that makes finding young players easier: filter your scouted players. I always set determination at 12. After a few years when I can choose to be very selective, I set determination and work rate at 12, and natural fitness, stamina, and teamwork at 10. It tends to filter out all the time wasters.

Developing wonder kids? Nah. Go to Argentina and just sign the kid under 21 with the most goals and the kid with the most assist. At the very least they’ll triple in value if not repeat the form they’ve just had

I been playing FM and CM for over 20 years, and I basically know all that you talk about, but your cool, calming, informative and a good listen. Keep it up man! For anyone new to FM or even a seasoned pro, you are very very good.

The most satisfying thing to do in FM - to develop your kids.
So i have over 2k hours in each other the last 8 FMs, but I kind of just have it running whilst I'm doing other things.

man i watched your video frome the past days (Nov 2021) and comparing to this, you have grown A LOT. you are now much more entertaining and showing your personality a much more
