There's a little truth to the whole parts of the foot correlate with the body thing. My mom wasn't feeling great, but we went out for pedicures. I love that you stated that autism is mostly inherited!!! Parents don't want to know this, they want to blame something else, like vaccines or polution. But I am a functional autistic and I know my father is autistic too, but he will never acknowledge this. My grandfather died when I was in middle school and for what I remember, he could have been autistic too. We have so much similar coping mechanisms. My mother would die of embarrassment if "society knew".
My dad's side is very similar! It's ridiculous how they all insist autism is made up or creates by vaccines or certain chemicals or whatever. We got lucky with my mom. She was originally a preschool teacher and then became a nurse. She read all the books on autism and ADHD and how to raise ND children I. The 90s and 2000s. Hats off to mom for treating us like human beings who deserved her love.
My sister claimed I "gave" my daughter autism by having her vaccinated. I absolutely "gave" her autism, but not via vaccination. It's inherited: I was diagnosed after hers. She got it from me😁
Yup, my brother has autism, I've got quite a few traits (but am only diagnosed ADD), so I guarantee my son is going to have SOMETHING. Us being vaccinated has nothing to do with it. 🤷🏼♀️

Schools have to be made aware of medical conditions in case of emergency (like if you're diabetic and you pass out or something) so I would imagine the teacher was probably made aware of any medical conditions in his class. Odd that he would bring it up though lol
Super unprofessional. You are told about a learner's health risks to prepare you for certain emergencies that may pop up. Not to put a pupil on the spot. I have high functioning autism and I always find it incredibly insulting that some people freak out about it like it’s a disease. Someone isn’t worse because of it. Just different
Because autism is a spectrum, and even if you got on the lucky end of it, the other end can be extremely debilitating and make it nearly impossible to communicate? Testimonial evidence is shaky at best, your experience is not all encompassing.
@@steamfeuver That's not the point. The point is people are acting like their children will catch autism from something like a flu shot like autism is the disease, not the flu. You can't catch autism, and you especially can't catch it from injections. It's a disorder that happens as the baby is forming, so unless they shove babies back in the womb for flu and measles shots, I don't think we have to worry about catching autism from a syringe.
@@nathenewendzel7806 I have a question, let’s say I have a friend with autism and we’ve been friends for a while, would it at some point be okay to ask them how autism have affected them growing up with people who don’t have it? I currently don’t have a friend with autism, that I know of, but I’m always curious but also trying to be respectful of others and don’t want them in an uncomfortable situation due to me saying something that is perhaps insensitive.
I agree. I have Asperger’s and sometimes I can’t always explain how I feel. I also find it harder to talk when I get overloaded so many people may think that I am ignoring them.
I don't get why he didn't understand that one. When the baby is teething or their head hurts, press the toes. When the baby's chest is bothering him/her, press right below the toes. Ofcourse, whether you believe it works is another thing. But the picture of the baby correlates with where to press on the foot. It's basically foot reflexology.
The dumbest things about the “vaccines cause autism” bs is that autism itself isn’t one thing. There are like a bajillion types of autism, all very different from each other. I forget what it’s called and autocorrect isn’t giving me the right spelling but I have a type of autism that makes me a lot smarter, and I hate people who over-generalize it and just use it to make fear. Great video btw
As a person with high-functioning autism, I’d say it could be argued that the study of autism is in its infancy, to an extent. But yeah, we know vaccines have nothing to do with it. And in my eyes, the autism itself isn’t the problem, it’s the myriad of psychiatric anomalies and tag-along disorders that can come with it. At least they’re easier to live with than measles and mumps…
Same here I have a similar autism and hyper intelligence disorder so Im smart but push doors are still my greatest foe to explain my autism makes it to were sounds busy places large places and for the weird thing not being able to complete simple task my hyper intelligence disorder is were I have a high intelligence level but that also means that I have highly sensitive emotional reactions

I have autism, I was diagnosed when I was little, and, even as an adult, the signs and symptoms are obvious with me. For a while, my mom thought I got it from mercury in vaccines and/or booster shots I got when I was little, but I likely inherited it from my dad, who, while undiagnosed and seemingly unaware that he even has signs and symptoms of it, is probably also autistic, but to a lesser degree.
@Margaret Bush, trace amounts of a mercury compound used to be used as a preservative in vaccines, or maybe still is, Idk, but the specific compound is harmless in said amounts, and, as far as we can tell, does not cause autism.
My husband was diagnosed with ASD at age 13, because of his father getting diagnosed at that time and they had the same symptoms. Hubby's grandfather also had even more severe symptoms of ASD. The grandfather was never vaccinated because they were not widely available in his time. That's three known inherited generations, and who knows what symptoms great-grandparents and other ancestors had. Vaccines never started it!
@@Nakia11798 I was diagnosed very soon with ADHD, at the age of 5 (I'm 29 now and just had my diagnosis reconfirmed with a psychiatrist) because my mom was in psychology school at the time and noticed my oldest brother had all of the symptoms lol Btw, our father has some symptoms too.
My entire household is autistic and we often make jokes about getting vaccinations to unlock full autism power! We know it's just silly, but we are really amused by it and it cheers us all up from our other disabilities.
Sometimes laughter really is great medicine! I don’t have autism but do have some mental health disorders and some days jokes are actually really helpful for me, especially with other people I know who can relate. I think connections with others are part of the reason it can be helpful 😊
0:35 as a ballerina (of about 9 years) i just have to say that the memory thing was probably talking about the benefits of learning/remembering choreography. That’s all thank you
Personally 4:08 I am never going to change my sleeping position no matter what anyone tells me because it is the only way I can sleep. No matter how hard I tried, whenever I move into supposed “healthier sleep positions” my body is physically unable to sleep.
same! my neck would really love it if I chose a different sleep position but I cant sleep any other way. Sleeping on my side hurts because I can't really afford a softer mattress, and sleeping on my back is extremely painful because I have this gap between my butt and my back. Lying on a solid floor spread eagle is just so uncomfortable, and it's not any better in bed either.
The suggestion was to do it as an exercise, although lack of clarification makes the post look unreliable. In other words, if you don't exercise, you'd have more anxiety.
Dr Mike: “And Subscapularis, sometimes that one gets stuck in my head” Me: “I don’t think that’s good, I thought it was in your shoulder not your head”
My workout is punching pillows, dancing to my favourite songs, and jumping on my trampoline. I have danced for 20 minutes every day for 5 years and almost 8 months. And I have anxiety.
It did increase my anxiety. I had a lot going on and had trouble following the directions. I was always so busy and always so tired I felt like I was going to collapse from my schedule. I eventually stopped going.
I had to do a standard dance class, a thing that our school offers to anyone in in 9th grade and generally everyone does, and yeah, it didn't help my anxiety a lot, to go at the big party after weeks of torture with a boy I didn't knew, because no one that I knew wanted to dance with me that one evening. Thanks mum.
Speaking from a professional dancer. The amount of choreography we have to memorize including rhythmic combinations probably does have some effect on our brains in the long run. Many dancers do it multiple times a day and it is most definitely a brain exercise every time. Would love to hear your thoughts given the context of the exercise.

Medical meme I came up with from the tongue thing: Your tongue color can say something about your diet. For example, if it's bright blue, you probably just ate a blue popsical.
There are multiple things you should do, drinking non alcoholic beverages is just one of them. Still, you are probably better off drinking powerade, pedialyte, or some kind of sports drink than regular water. You also probably should eat something if I remember correctly, I actually have a list somewhere back when I drank more frequently and it was all evidenced based from real studies and medical advice from doctors, not facebook bs. I think there's something about having food in your stomach slows the absorption of alcohol compared to drinking on an empty stomach.
@@Alex-bn3ix I'm sure there's a science to it, but drinking water is what I do and it hasn't failed me yet. Also it's a lot less complicated to communicate to people compared to a list.
Ok, about the dance one, the dance itself isn't boosting your memory, but the act of learning and picking up choreography is. It takes a special kind of way of thinking to memorize steps!
Eat and drink water before sleep. That helps for me. I would take till the next morning to get drunk if I drink a glass of water between every glass of alcohol
As a person who does meditation and uses grounding. (It’s part of my spiritual practice) it SHOULD NOT be an alternative to real medicine. Although it has some calming benefits please if you are sick see a professional and take actual medicine. Mediation and all that isn’t a cure for everything and the things some people suggest should be taken with a grain of salt as well.
SLA SLA He’s not saying that medication will cure all of your health problems, he’s just saying that meditation should never be used to try to solve an injury, disease etc by itself.
This! Spiritual healing is not the same as physical. You cannot cure cancer with meditation or prayer, but it can be an aid to help you get through accepting your illness, and give you strength as you go through treatments. Spiritual practice is NOT a cure.
There was a "scientific" study that showed that those who drink a little alcohol are healthier/live longer than those who doesn't drink any alcohol. Might be because the non-drinkers where or often are past alcoholics, but what do I know?
From a quick google search it looks like in 2010 there were some 'studies' that seem to be a little hard to track down, and have some strange claims that silicon was discovered to be in high concentrations in beer, more so than other products high in silicon. The conclusion that it's good for bones is like... they jumped from "Silicon is good for bones, it's high in beer, so therefore beer is good for bones." Ignoring all the OTHER effects of alcohol entirely. Seems like recently people are re-discovering this 2010 'trend' and going wild with spreading the FACT that "Beer makes your bones stronger, oh also it improves your heart health and lowers you cholesterol" Should be noted I didn't find ANYTHING about studies toward cholesterol or heart health. Google is NOT a great way to find scientific facts.. but it IS a great way to find a lack of them. If you have trouble googling scientific findings, there's probably a reason.
Dr. Mike, the video was talking something lnown as acupuncture. The areas that the video told to press are areas that help said body parts to function better. My mother does this in her yoga class.
Hey Doc, I think the claim about dancing helping with memory is because exercise stimulates the hippocampus, creativeness in dance stimulates other parts, and so on. As I recall, this can help with memory, to a point. I think the goofy video with the baby was showing reflexology/accupressure.
I am a high school teacher and I propose an activity where my students watch this video and write a small article about one of the "health posts" of their choices. They have to explain what happened there, why, and relate what Dr. Mike said with something we saw during our classes. Automatic subtitles ROCK! and so do you, thanks for all the available content! :D
That sounds cool! Although I’d suggest that they only write about what’s actually right instead of addressing the myth too much, because sometimes paying that much attention to the myths can make you remember them over the facts. For example, NYC had a pro-flu vaccine campaign with a bunch of ads saying “the flu vaccine doesnt cause the flu” but when they interviewed people about it a few weeks later a bunch of them thought the vaccine caused the flu. It’s the same sort of reasoning that my old high school teachers would give as to why you should never write the wrong answer on the board, even if you’re talking about why it’s wrong - because some students will just remember the incorrect thing (regardless of intelligence level). Lmk if you want sources for this!
harvard literally has a webpage called "dancing and the brain" where they cite a few different studies describing the neurological benefits of dancing.
Yeah I feel like he didn’t really think hard about that one because exercise in general can have neurological benefits. Heck, even chewing gum improves memory retention while studying.
This actually does work as a placebo with older people that understand what’s happening and expect something to change, just with hand made up pressure points
As someone who took dance classes, it actually might improve your memory, because you also learn routines, which takes memory to keep track of the moves and timing.
I would never vaccinate my children, that is reckless and dangerous.

@@steamfeuver im not saying that im just saying people are pointlessly very mean to people with autism by treating it like an infectious diesease

Facebook: PRESS THE CHEST, PRESS THEIR TOE, PRESS THEIR HEAD AND TEETH
Okay jokes aside but accupressure does exist.

Yeah, after getting diagnosed with ADHD, I've noticed the symptoms in my father too.
Most neurological disorders are mostly inherited.

About the beer benefits post - Somebody probably just made up some "facts" about it so he can be less judgemental about himself drinking beer...
Seems like recently people are re-discovering this 2010 'trend' and going wild with spreading the FACT that "Beer makes your bones stronger, oh also it improves your heart health and lowers you cholesterol"
Should be noted I didn't find ANYTHING about studies toward cholesterol or heart health.
Google is NOT a great way to find scientific facts.. but it IS a great way to find a lack of them. If you have trouble googling scientific findings, there's probably a reason.
Yeah, my uncle tries to sell me on "beer facts" all the time.
I bet that this beer health benefit study was done in Germany.
