    Is it the same for a heater union split nut?

  • @thejakein7867
    @thejakein7867 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Mine is not split like that but it's not seating properly and will not get a seal. Should I replace it with a split nut or just a new gasket?

    Great video. How do the split nuts hold up, are they as strong. Those two little screws make me wonder.

    Do you carry the unions for a Jandy filter?
    If so, how do I purchase?

    • @SpaGuy
      @SpaGuy  ปีที่แล้ว

      The split nut kit for Jandy does not exist you will have to cut the plumbing and replace the union..

    I see there is a black o-ring gasket already seated in the existing white tube. Is that all you need to create a water tight seal?

      Yes

    I guess I need new gaskets now,....i just did the union nut repair as you showed....but it leaks.....mine apparently has that single O ring in the union.... and not a full gasket,...does that sound right? 2". Thanks for the advice!

    It looks like you’re replacing the nut on the left of the pump, I need to replace the nut that is on top of the pump. Would this be the same procedure? Thanks!

    How do you replace the seal part. I have a new seal with the new nut but it looks like I need to cut the PVC pipe to glue the sealed part back on?

  • @davida9878
    @davida9878 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    My nut measures 3 1/8 inside threads and 2 3/4 across pipe opening. Caldera kawai. Caldera only listed a 2" split that fit the threads but not pipe opening it was only 2 1/4 pipe opening. Where can I get correct split nut.

    Before I saw this video a friend told me to buy a pipe extender to go over the gate valve and then rebuild the plumbing back to the pump. The pipe extender doesn't fit over the gate valve. I wish I had seen this video, such an easy fix. My question is, do they make a pipe extender that will fit over the gate valve? Or do I need to replace the gate valve now that the pipe is cut?

    • @SpaGuy
      @SpaGuy  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on what was glued into the slice.. If it was standard pipe you can go inside.. Use Magic Mend. hottubpartsofamerica.com/search.php?search_query=magic+mend

    Any easy repair kits for a check valve that's broken internally? (I know it's doubtful, more tongue in cheek than anything) [glued valve that is not able to be opened]

    Is there a difference between a split nut for the pump and for the heater?

    • @SpaGuy
      @SpaGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes A big difference that is why I made a video about one for a pump.. hottubpartsofamerica.com/search.php?search_query=emergency

    Hey Spa Guy. I have seen most of you videos on how to repair a pump union with a split nut. I have a broken union at the heater pump. Do you have a video which show you repairing one? I have done all the repairs to my spa since I got it seven years ago.

    • @SpaGuy

    • @SpaGuy
      @SpaGuy  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Figure out the leak.. The nut doesn't hold the water the o-ring or gasket does..

    Question: How do I measure the kind I need? The inside of the pipe or the outside?

    • @matthewrowe3800
      @matthewrowe3800 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good video, bought the split nut, and could you do a video on how to measure things like this, the measurements make no sense to me, especially when I live in metric England and now have to buy everything in imperial for my LA Spa. Thanks!

    Good thing he chose not to use the word "quick" here: you see, most pool supply stores don't carry split nuts in stock, you'll have to order one. I went to three different stores all of which touted their 'help-for-the-pool owner' expertise and stock----and 3 out of 4 did not even know what a split nut was! The fourth helpfully looked it up and ordered one for me.
