I have gotten my first low battery warning one one of my tags, so about 370 days of battery life, where the locate and sound was used about 1 to 2 times per month.
Bought a 4 pack and I paired two of them and then left them at home and hoping to get an alert when I was out of range. Instead the map showed the both tags were with me even though they were back home. Not sure if something is wrong if I'm doing something wrong
Can I set this up with my Samsung Galaxy S6 Lite and then use the smartthings app that I have on my asus android phone for the day to day stuff? Looking at putting 1 in my suitcase/ backpack
Please please help😢 can you please explain simply how to track your tag if it’s in a suitcase situation and out of nearby range? It’s not necessarily lost, I just want to find it. Also do you know why I can’t find my phone using the tag2 click twice method even when the find phone or tablet option is on? Many thanks ❤
They connect via Bluetooth. So any samsnung device that comes within Bluetooth signal range will update the location of the SmartTag2, you then need to open find within about 30 feet of the tag location to be able to turn on ringing or location proximity.
The locate my phone using the tag isn't working on mine, I am not able to enable to option it keeps saying connection something error despite my phone having turned on all the location Bluetooth and WiFi. But I was able to find my tag using my phone but not the other way around
I have the Samsung Galaxy S24+ and the camera function does not work. Researching...I found out Samsung has a problem with SmartTag2 not working on the S24 series of phones. Waiting for an update from Samsung so I can use the camera feature.
What size battery does this take? The CR2 battery listed on Amazon for this unit will not fit. The CR2 battery is super large. Please tell me wht size battery that it takes. Thank you.
@@TechworksOnline Thank you. On Amazon the correct battery listed for this is the CR2 which is not the correct battery. The CR2 is a massive huge battery. Hey, great vid! Would the precision be bang on if the phone had UWB and you were out of range? My phone is S20 + and does not have UWB, so im wondering if its worth upgrading the phone if it means your smattag2 will give you pin point location when your out of range. Cheers
The UWB is only helpful when "in range". On my S20 ultra Didn't have UWB I was still able to locate the tag decently enabling the ring on them. The UWB on the S22 Ultra is pretty good with a pointer that points in the general location of the tag. And the AR camera highlights the tag with the camera on the phone. Kind of within like an 18 inch area of the tag
@@TechworksOnline thanks for the reply :) So the UWB is not helpful when you are out of range but another Samsung galaxy user pings its location? I was under the impression that it would then give you an exact location as the other samsung user is now in range? I hope this makes sense lol
@Verstrappen the other samsung phones will give a location usually within 30 feet of the smarttags location. When you get there with your device within 30 feet, uwb should work fine. Just depends on the interference for the accuracy from other devices.
Also 3-6 months battery life for smarttag (minimum is 1 year battery life) I assume this is for the smarttag+ because 2 of mine randomly crash and reboot (plays the battery inserted sound randomly) and battery life doesn't last very long (smarttag 1s lasted me over a year and a month or 2),I expect the newer Panasonic ones to last slightly longer I name all my devices with the month and year number {02/23} for my current smarttags and they haven't dropped to low level yet (funny thing is I believe they do have a working battery level but only the battery icon changes)
I have had mine for about 3 months now.. no issue with battery. My smarttag+ lasted about 7 months my original smarttags lasted more than that but less than a year
@@TechworksOnline the original battery's lasted 10 months to 1 year and 2 months (smarttag 1s and + come already powered, no pull tab) last year they all lasted at least 1 year 2 months, using Panasonic battery's (airtag uses them from factory lasted 1 year 3-4 months) this time round was ons talked around the 15/02/23 (has 02/23 on the names of each tag) so be intresting if the last longer then before Most likely start moving over to smarttag2 or keep a combo of smarttag 1 and 2 in same larger items with airtag as well (because apple has better offline network because 99% of iPhone and iPads have it enabled by defualt vs Samsung don't) because Apple by default has offline finding enabled at account login when you setup the phone, samsung only asks if you want to Enable offline network as a popup but it only Shows it "once" (if you dismiss it you have to goto 4 sub menus to find it to turn it on, something a normal phone user won't do) so Majority of Samsung phones offline finding is off I am interested if the smarttag can handle a 3.6v (3.8v actual) Li-SOCI2 LS14500 battery like the airtag and smarttag 1 can (basically gives the tags 10 years battery life)

Can someone help with smarttagg? I send child with it to school, she does not have data enabled on phone and tracker does not work ? How come you can find lost item then ?
I've had mine on my wallet for a month and a 1/2 this morning. I received a dead battery notification I was hoping i would get at least a year out of it.
An old one or a new SmartTag2 ? The SmartTag2 has only been out for barely 2 months now. maybe inside your wallet the button is being pressed and draining the battery ?
@TechworksOnline the new one. I received it on oct 18 i also purchased the spigen case for it i glued it to my aluminum wallet. Will double check the button just was weird getting a low battery notification so soon
Doesn't the tracker pick up signals from other Android phones in order to find the tracker location? Thinking about about using one of these in my Jeep if it gets stolen.
Requires other samsung phones with offline finding enabled (unfortunately Samsung still doesn't opt-in automatically like apple does, samsung pops up once of you dismiss it offline finding is disabled until you navigate 4 sub menus to enable it) so you have 100s of millions of phones with less then 5% probably enabled for offline finding (Most will likely be tech aware that have enabled it) samsung needs to change it so offline finding is enabled by default when you log into the Samsung account
@leexgx All Samsung phones are pre opt-in you have to manually opt-out. Same as iPhone. Maybe you are in a region where the laws differ and the options is defaulted differently. Wife just got a new Samsung phone and didnt get anything regarding it.
