You are so sweet ♥️ I’m 30! Doing my GCSEs for one year! Then I will be doing A-levels for two years! Then University for four years! I can realise that it’s a long journey and challenging, but that’s okay and I don’t care about being 30 or 60 or 18 I enjoy it and I’m gonna smash it and win Noble Prize✨ Good luck for all mature students in the world! Remember it will happen. Thank you the emotional video Claire😢
Ageed Whoop!! Amazing goals right there and you will smash it! 🌟 Stay focused and keep going all the way. You’ve definitely got this 🌟 It’s never too late to do anything in life :) keep being awesome. Hope you have a great day 🌟🌻
Have you thought about doing "access to higher education"? it's equivalent to 3 A levels and accepted in almost all universities, it's for mature students 19+.
I'm 37 and just started my access course into nursing 😁 I'm so nervous and doubting myself whether I can do it and I'll be too old, but this video has given me that bit of confidence so thank you!! X
@@shazedakhanom2281 it's going well, if I'm honest it took some getting used to, learning how to write essays again and managing my time with 2 children, but I'm coping!! I'm enjoying it more now I'm doing more medical based things, to begin with it was a lot of things to get you used to researching and writing. Good luck 🤞 x
@@emmacullen7329 awww wonderful!!! I am 39 now and have my interview on Friday. I am so nervous. I am going for podiatry. It nice to hear from a fellow 39 year old xxx
Well done Claire , Great vid too. I headed off to Uni in 2019 here in Melbourne-Aust at 46Yrs of age to commence teaching degree , Very challenging but best life decision ever. Keep up the great work
Thank you for a great video. Im a 39 year old single mum and starting uni in a few weeks 😁. I vlog also so know what you mean about it doesnt mean you're confident! Im gonna be so awkward and nervous when I start 😊
Very grateful for your video , I’m 50 and got a place in UNI to start my nursing course in this year . Very nervous as I’m too matured . But like this profession so much so couldn’t resist to try . So your video is extremely supportive. Many thanks
I sent off my UCAS applications a few months ago at the age of 26. I couldn’t have done uni 8 years ago, I feel I’m much more ready now and actually know what I want in life and have the life experience to cope much better now. I think applying and taking that leap made me realise even more just how much I want this!! Thank you for inspiring me and everyone who watches your videos Claire. and thank you for giving me the courage to even apply to uni. Hopefully one day I’ll achieve my dream of becoming a nurse too 🤞🏻💕 x
Ellie W Aw that’s so amazing Ellie!! Well done for taking that leap 👏🏻 so glad you’ve applied :) you’ll be a fantastic nurse I think! Because you know your limits and yourself already before even starting 💕 thank you so much for your message :) that’s so lovely of you. You will absolutely achieve your dreams! I have faith xx
I just want says Claire that you are an amazing beautiful person inside and out and so humble, your friends are very lucky to have a friend like you 👌💯
It’s so nice watching your journey. I was exactly the same when I started uni at 40. I have since returned at 50 to become a practice nurse, and again met some lovely friends. Got a final presentation then I can job hunt 😊 Well done Claire. You will be a fabulous nurse 👩⚕️ xxx
ELAINE KAY How exciting for you! I’m glad you’ve met some great friends :) when is your final presentation? I’m sure you’ll do amazing. And you will snap up a job in no time ☺️💙 x
This is very reassuring! I'm 28 starting my physiotherapy program in 3 days, kind of nervous to start because all my room mates are 18-20 years of age and they go to the same university as me. Oh well this isn't stopping me now because im extremely motivated. Thanks for this video!
Hi Claire, love your inspiration and determination according to live your life! I'm 5 years younger than you. I'm also a mature student with disability and mental health. Who has worked his way up from college over the past 14 years while in school ; after leaving special educational needs school. For me it's worth the plenge through education perspectives! I've just successfully completed and achived top grades on my Access course in Health and Social Care. I'm going to study Bsc Psychology mental health with a placement year at Uni this Septmeber ;work up to higher level standard to become a clinical psychologist. At my school, we only did entry level based qualifications due to our cognitive abilities for thriving mainstream curicculum. I've passed everything from school, but just did 2 GCSEs in Maths and ICT but recieved a grade Gs and failed. Even though, after leaving school till now I've always worked my way up and passed every year. I have passed GCSE Maths back in 2019 on a different course, just waiting for GCSE English result next month. My next plan is to study GCSE Biology alongside my degree to have at least a science. I already have a diploma in Health and Social care at L2+ GCSE Maths. Once having English and Biology will showcase 5 GCSEs. I'm proud of all the work I've put in since! I'm not ashamed to express my biographical views this on social media platform here. We all have learning and developmental curves in our life that can either be succeeding or turning points! I'm delighted to hear your success, you've made my heart feel accomplished and spirated to achieve something in life...
@Seharkhan69 Hello! Thank you so much for sharing your journey 💓 I hope you're getting on well now :) It doesn't matter how long it takes you, Nursing will always be around waiting for you when you're ready. You're so strong and resilent! Well done on all of your achievements. Keep going and never give up 💓 xx
@@ClaireCarmichael Your welcome Claire! Everything is going wel, according to my life. I love care work. I hold vast amount experience, but doing it in a nursing environment isn't suitable in terms of my health due to anexity. My Aunty is a senior nurse and she loves her experience, it's all down to how well you can cope in a busy and demnading evironment. I strongly value and respect the actual degree, as it is deemed as golden and rewarding. Just keep on thriving, thrillingly. Thank you once again for your praise, everything has paid off in a long run. My strength and determination had succeeded me with the career I wished to embark onto today. I could either study psychology mental health and become a clinical psychologist or study law and become a lawyer. I much prefer centre and office based jobs due to my needs and illnesses. I'm still inspired with your hardwork; it galvinzes everyone to become something they'd wished to achieve one day in life... xx
@Seharkhan69 Those are amazing careers! I'd loved to have done Psychology / forensics profiling! That would have been so interesting. Or law too! You have to do what's best for you and your health 🥰 always. You come first before anything. X
@@ClaireCarmichael Both courses are very populer which most students gravitate towards, as well as nursing. It all comes down to the person's personal interest. Nursing is prodeminantly populer, most students have undertaken the Access course and are now ready to go to University. One or two of them are doing midwifery. I was to become a social worker but due to mental health. I'm not able to drive. I ended up thinking for an alternative career which supports with helping people. Your 💯 correct human development is paramount before anything else. ❤️
I know you did this video a few years ago but thankyou so much for the video. Im 37 and starting my nursing at napier university in september. Well needed advise.
This is really motivational for people like me! I was thinking im too old for uni! But thankyou nurse Claire Carmichael for this!😊 Its really inspiring how you go through all this alone! 🤗 #godbless

Thanks so much for sharing your story! I’ve applied to uni this year as a mature student, I’m 31. I have a nursing interview this week and I’m quietly panicking about it! But your videos have really helped me feel calm and more confident that it will all be okay!!
Thank you Claire for all the tips and for being so candid and honest. I am currently in the process of applying at Uni for Nursing as a matured student and watching this video has boost up my confidence. You are an inspiration!
I am a mature student of the grand age of 55, I am about to start my second year studying BA History at plymouth University. I am now trying find the effective way to study. Good luck Clairexx
Hi Claire, thank you for your videos, I love them! I am currently thinking of applying to nursing school. I am 31 and I am terrified that if I manage to get in I won't be able to make rent or pay my bills or generally survive! Watching this video was really comforting, it is nice to hear that as a mature student it is possible to work during your studies and that this is manageable. Thank you
You're smashing it girl! Well done, and thank you SO much for voicing so many of the worries and anxieties we all have but feel embarrassed to talk about!
Hannah Burrow thank you so much! You’re going to be just fine honestly 🤗🌟 it’s not easy but we pull through it 💪🏻 I hope you’re having a great weekend :) x
Thank you so much Claire, I will be starting adult nursing in September as mature student this video has really assured me. Hoping that you will continue to post nursing videos even if you have finished. I am so happy for you. You have no idea how many lives you have touched just by sending these videos throughout your degree.
nyasha msengeai aw thank you so much! That’s so lovely :) I’ve finished uni but I don’t officially finish until November and I’ll definitely vlog when qualified too :) x
I'm 55 and planning on going back to College for a full-time 2 year diploma program. I have been chatting with a number of friends and they all say "Go for it!" I'm completely on my own too and have been so for over 13 years. Money will be tight, but I can't continue struggling to find decent work and working retail. I live in a manufactured home (owned) on rented land, but I'm debt-free and have some dividends that can cover some expenses and a part-time retail position that will cover the rest. Really frugal living helps (been doing that forever it seems), and I will be paying for tuition and expenses from my savings. Nursing!! Wow! Good for you! My study will be office administration - health services. I have my administration executive diploma but it's old - 21 years and need a serious update of programs, etc. Tons of positions out there for health-related office work. Thanks for your words, they help!!
Aw that's amazing that you are doing that!! Well done!! 100% go for it and keep going, it will all be worth it in the end. Also, you should be able to get funding for the course I think?? Have you checked this? :) Hopefully you'll get something to help you along. x
You are the sweetest 💗 I wish I had a friend like you 😆. I pray I pass my upcoming interviews and I get a offer to start in September. Thank you for your videos and God bless you 🙏🏿❤
Thank you for encouragement! I did not know that you are one of the mature students -- you look so young :) Good luck with everything! I love your calm voice and positivity and all the honest and open advice! Keep those videos coming! Thank you!!!!!!
Thank you for making this video Claire. I think it’s helped me feel a bit better. I’m 31 and strongly debating going to uni to study nursing in a year or two but keep worrying how I’ll manage it all now as an adult with bills to pay and kids of my own to look after.
I'm 32, coming back to school to finish what I started 12 years ago... (walked away to marry a Marine). I'm in the US, so it's really interesting to hear about how things are handled in the UK vs. here! Thank you for doing this video. It was very interesting!
@@ClaireCarmichael am 45 and applied to do access course. But am panicking a lot.I feel like l wanna give up.So scared it might be tough.l haven't been studying for a longtym
Thank you very much for your video, I was looking for a video of someone who could be in a similar situation than me, and yours gave me some hope with my new journey which will start in September. I am your age too and I am going to come back to University to start Nursing School. It is a 4-year degree in my country, so it a long journey from now. Thank you again for your encouragement, and I will check out more videos from you.
I’m discussing enrolling for my bachelors in Psychology. I have to keep my full-time job and take care of my family on top of school if I go. I’ll be 39 this year 😭
I came across one of your videos because I’m looking at doing nursing and so I went back to some of your earlier videos and after like 15 or so videos, I got to this one and was like ‘mature?’ ...35?! No way!! Haha I thought you were early 20’s!!! I’ve found your videos amazingly helpful, positive and you’ve given me so much faith about getting started!!
Courtney Stockwell Aw thank you for that 😂 this is amazing to hear you’re going into nursing! It’s such an amazing profession 💙 there’s so much you can do in nursing as well which is fantastic! :) hope you’re ok over there and staying well / safe 🙏🏻🌟 xx
July 2019... Let me make a prediction. In just a few months, as a nurse, you will be more busy and scared than you have EVER been in your life. I am certain that you have come out the other end as an amazing nurse.
Hi Claire, thank you very much for your video, you are only one who being so honest about everything,l m 38 yrs old male,my dream is to become a nurse one day, many times l m scared especially the study side of it, sometime l think l m too old and is too late for me, you only one who encouraging coz many other videos about that saying, it's horrible, nearly impossible, nearly don't do it etc, thank you so much,l would love some more personal advice from you as you seem so genuine person, only if you don't mind and can, God Bless You 🙌 x
I can’t lie and say it’s going to be easy. Because it’s so tough - but that doesn’t mean you can’t do this! You absolutely CAN as long as you get stuck in and work hard for it 💙☺️ never give up! Of course - inbox me x
Thank you for taking my suggestion on this video😊 You are so right, it is never too late. Luckily it is something financially viable for my family with what’s on offer at the moment, I may be £60,000 in debt when I’ve finished (literally that much) but as we all know it is very unlikely I’ll have to pay it all back unless I end up with some crazy high paying job 😂
I am so grateful for coming across your videos Claire!! I am about to start my first year of adult nursing and I am getting very nervous about it all! Firstly I am starting as a mature student I’m 34! At first I did think I was too old to start uni, but after listening to you, I am now feeling very confident! Secondly, I don’t really know what to expect when it comes to placements and the hours, shifts etc. I have 2 children, and I really don’t know what hours I will have to do in placements which is slightly scaring me! xx
saheda rahman Aww amazing! Well done for taking the plunge! I honestly loved every second of my three years. It’s been fantastic. Hours on placement depends on where you’re working. Wards tend to be 3 x long days a week. So 7am - 7.30pm or 8am - 8.30pm that sort of time. Where as if you’re in the community / GP it might be 9am - 5pm although I’m doing 8.30am - 6.30pm Monday, weds and Fridays. Then 1-6.30pm tues and thurs 🥰 which is nice. Xx
Claire Carmichael that sounds doable! Thankyou so much for responding back! Honestly you have definitely made me even more passionate now to pursue a career in nursing 💕 one last question Claire: do you now work as a practice nurse? If yes, then could you please 🙏 share how you went about in applying for the role, etc. Iv not even started my course yet and I already want to be a practice nurse just like you! X
saheda rahman Aw I’m so glad you’re excited about it!! You’ll have your tough days in nursing and just want to cry and give up. EVERYONE has this, but the good days outweigh any of those. It’s such an amazing career and so worth it at the end! 💙 I think I covered GP applications somewhere 🤔 I’ll have to have a look haha. If you can request it as a placement do it! It’s amazing. Plus some people have been offered jobs from it! :) I was offered mine but I moved down south 🙈 but have a look on NHS jobs, even if it says ‘experience needed’ apply! :) xx
Crazy how much cheaper it is in other cities! Here in London I live about 45min south of central and I pay 650 a month for rent inclusive of bills... And that's a lot cheaper than halls or living closer!
Really happy for you! I am right behind you :) been doing prerequisites as a mature student for almost a year now and come this Fall I will be starting full time in my major. 33 years old and it has been a trip, plan to go to grad school so I will be sailing into my 40's with this journey :D
Christopher Spencer Aw that’s amazing to hear!! Well done for taking that leap 💙 legend! I hope your journey has started off well for you. Keep smashing it! 🌟
Fab video, you're so motivating! I'm 29 and start in September, I can't wait! I just wanted to add a little note about finances as a mature student because I hit a little wall recently with childcare. At all the open days I went to for uni they always reassured me I would be able to get a childcare grant for my now 16month old. What they don't tell you is that there are cut off brackets for the funding. So 1 child your household income has to be below 19k and I think it's 26k for more than 1 child. Now me and my husband need to find £800 per month for childcare which we can just about do. It'll be worth it in the long run but oh my university is expensive! I think I'm most worried about making friends and fitting in, I feel old and have a little one I just hope I have something in common with someone lol X
Melissa Young What?! That’s awful! 😭 so sorry about that. I know you can get some childcare funded but I didn’t realise this! Oh gosh. Do you have family and friends who can help out with childcare? :( You’ll be fine honestly! There are so many people on my course with children, young and older students. They do amazing. It will be tough but it will be so worth it x
@@ClaireCarmichael We have my mother in law moving in with us post December to help but we're quite far from family until then. I think they just assume you have help from family because we're well above the threshold and can only just afford it so goodness knows how those in the middle cope! It will be worth it though 🤞 x
Melissa Young Have you looked into the child dependants allowance? It’s £1000 a year but not sure what the terms are of that one but worth checking. Most universities also have their owns grants/bursary’s that you may be eligible for so worth checking too ☺️
Clare Sober Whooop! Exciting times for you! You’ll be fine don’t worry. How old are your little ones? One of my fiends revises with her little one :) teaches her all the physiology and it helps her remember! I think that’s a great way to do it too 💕 xx

I am 31 years old.I am doing access course in science.I have got one year old baby and two years old daughter. They need my care and love all the time.l hardly find some time to study and I can not concentrate because I have to study with my children playing and watching songs at the same time.I also have to cook, clean the dishes, feed the children, change their nappies.........every day . What makes me sad that my husband does not encourage me.on the contrary he always criticizes me although I am good at my course and although English is not my first language.I am Syrian refugee who live in the UK.I graduated from university in Syria in 2012 and sometimes I feel so upset for returning to studying from the beginning with all these challenges.Sometimes I think if studying really worth it or it just waste of my time because you can imagine how hard to keep studying and focusing and how hard finding some time to read for me.I am too depressed and distracted.I do not know what to do.I want to be a pharmacist but sometimes I feel I am not going to get a good job.......and feel nervous.sorry for talking too much.I can not find anybody to talk with.
I only get £7500 on loan from a very very low income family so I am not sure its that much better. No grants or anything so like you say it is like we are paying ourselves to work because loans are repayable. Its hard but I am going in September and I'm going to have to find extra money through work, so I think I will be trying to use annual leave the same to fund. It's going to be tough but it's a testament to how much I want to get this degree! I feel the same about being out of education for a long time, not been in education for 5 years and never done anything health related. So I am worried but I am going to put in the work. Thank you for being so open and honest about you're academic levels and showing that anything is possible if you try hard. xx
Sarah Redman Awww that’s so rubbish for you too! :( it’s definitely doable though. It’s not great having to work all the time but it’s so worth it in the end. You can do this 💕 Academic side you’ll be fine :) you’ll be on the ball and revise and be amazing!! Don’t panic. X
Thank you! And good luck to you! I made it to Nurse practitioner in anaesthetics and anticoagulation . Loved every minute but now for something new. You are going to make a wonderful nurse all the best. Your video has helped my anxiety thank you xxx
Wow Claire! That is so amazing and inspirational, I love all your videos! I am starting my second year and I started to watch your videos even before I started my nursing journey, I am thankful for all the knowledge and all the amazing experiences you have shared with me. Well done and I wish you all the best.
Suaad Hussein Aw that’s so so lovely and way too kind of you 🥰 thank you so much for your lovely comment. Second year yay!!! 🙌🏻🌟✨ go you!! Second year for me was the fastest year of them all! Suaad Hussein Ahhh you’ll be fine!! You’re going to love it! 🥰💕 you’ll make new friends and grow so much. It’s going to be amazing. It is scary at the start, it’s so daunting and nerve wracking but once you settle you’ll be well away! :) you’ve got this x
thank you for this video i was starting to really doubt my ability to go to uni im hoping to get in for next year fingers crossed my satac stat test goes well xx
I'm also a mature student (27). Everything is fine except the fact that I can't see anyone who would be older then me or at least at the same age. Everyone else is maximum 20 years old and I find myself uncomfortable. I find hard to make friendship and now it's even worst among people who are 10 years younger :(
Vivien Petre Oh no! That’s a shame. We have a lot of mature students in our year. I wonder if it’s because they cut the bursary maybe? So more younger people are applying rather than older 🤔 I hope you can manage to make some friends at least 🥰 not everyone is immature. Even the younger ones on our course are mature and lovely xx
In the town we have 2 university. Both are good but one of them is bigger, has more money, higher on rankings, etc.... While the other one is more supportive. So more mature students go to this second one while I'm at the first one.
I know 8-10y doesn't seems much but it is actually. For the same reason why a romantic relationship between a 18 & 28 is questionable but between a 28 & 38 seems fine.
Laura D Aww you can do it!! Some Vets will do apprenticeships I think?? And pay for you to do it? 🤔 I don’t know where I heard this now 😂 but worth looking into! And asking your local vets x
I’d love to go back to school and have been increasingly thinking about healthcare. I feel like my brain is not big enough to remember all of the information I would need to remember. At school I studied hard just to pass. I also struggled my way through college, a course I had changed my mind about half way through. I only finished because I was told I would never finish my degree. Now I’m 38 and I want to do a job that means something. Now I’m raising a 4 year old and I wonder if family life will suffer if I do this. I’m so torn. I wonder if being a health care assistant might be a way to step into the field and perhaps reassess later. I never did sciences at secondary school either.
Wow thank you just subscibred!!!! The picture is a Joke lol am a Scottish student at Ayr your info really helped am 32 😂and money is hard work ! But you have helped a lot !

treeoflife 2015 Morning! Aww amazing! Well done 👏🏻🥰 Noooo you won’t be an outsider. You’re going to be fabulous and in the same boat as everyone else on the course :) x
Hey Claire, I'm 24 and will be going to uni next September after being out of education since 2017, i was just wondering was it difficult in your experience to get readjusted to academic life, I'm kinda worried that I'll struggle to keep up with the course content in first year since I haven't done any intensive learning in such a long time.
At first you will 100% need to get your head around it all. It takes time :) but you will do it! 🙌🏻💜 You just have to stay organised and focused That's all x
I am applying to university to start in September and tbh I'm so nervous this is my second degree I am coming from an HR background and I'm just hoping that everything goes well. Good luck to you and everyone on their new journey.
kristal Alexander Aw amazing!! Go you! You’ll be fine I’m sure. You’ve done a degree so you’ll be used to the academic stuff at least 🤗 have you done any shifts in nursing anywhere before? :) x
No I haven't done any shifts I am more interested in becoming a dermatology nurse. I feel a bit lost tbh I wanted to get some experience at a skin care clinic but honestly I don't know how to go about doing that.
kristal Alexander Maybe just find some clinics and ring them. Say you’re a student nurse and want to work in that area and is there any opportunity to sit in and watch their clinic 🤗 see what they say. The worst they can say is no lol. Maybe see if you can volunteer at a nursing home or something for the day too? So you can see what sort of things go on :) Just be prepared to wash and dress people, clean sick, blood, vomit etc. All the nitty gritty stuff 🙈 sometimes that’s a shock to people who haven’t done care before :) xx
@@ClaireCarmichael honestly you are a god send and I have been mentally preparing myself. I will have a go at what you said and let you know how it works out. Once again thank you for all your encouraging words you're a star 🤗
Hey Claire, I love your videos so much! I’m 26 and will be starting nursing in January 2021, I’m so nervous! Is there anything you can recommend that I revise before I start?
Lucy W take some time out and relax before you get stuck in! Haha. It’s so intense at times you’ll need this :) but if you really want to do something, just look at the body systems and how they work. Types of organs and what they do. That will give you a good start 💙 also google drug calculations for nurses and do some practice tests 😬 that will help when the time comes too haha. But honestly. Don’t stress. I did nothing before starting and did alright :) x
toni bottom you can have a look on the NHS website and the nhs job site for bank jobs :) Also after your first placement in the trust you’re in, you can apply for a fast track back shift ☺️(whether all trusts do this I’m not sure) :) x
You need to complete a 12 week placement usually, but occasionally there are bank jobs where they will train you fully. Rotherham Hospital just gave loads of students jobs. Good luck
@@petebrennan6210 aw thank you! I’ll go find you and follow you! ☺️☺️ You’ll be amazing. Just start with the basics :) learn basic anatomy and physiology - the body systems. Khan academy is my favourite for leaning but there’s loads of other people on TH-cam and websites to help! :) start with that and the rest will follow 💙🌻 xx
Hi Claire, I have been following your vlogs and vids this past few days and have found them extremely comforting and helpful with my own progressions with study etc. I have previously studied but have decided at 33 years old that I want to be a nurse and genuinely always have for a number of different reasons. Keep up the hard work I think with your past experiences and where you are today you are amazing and will make an amazing nurse . I do have a partner and depending on which Uni I am accepted to we will be moving locally, we may also not have to move if Chester Uni accepts my application. May I ask you why you dont live with your partner or is it financially more beneficial for you to house share etc ? I am just trying to way up my options if I live separate to my partner would it help me financially , he earns just under 25,000 PA so I am aware that I will be entitled to financial help again this time round but if I move and he has to stay local to where we are now with work etc would it benefit me more financially/would I be entitled to more? This may be something you cant help on but I have searched the Uni websites and government funding website and have found little or no response if living alone would benefit me more to get me through my studies financially. Best wishes , Kate x x
katie wright morning! Thank you for your message 🥰 I hope you’re having a great weekend so far. Take a look at this website www.gov.uk/student-finance-calculator it should work out your finances etc :) and what you’re entitled to. You have to also balance, if you move out, you’ll have rent etc to pay on your own and would that cost more than living with your partner? Weigh up all the options. I lived with my ex previously and we broke up during second year so that’s why I’m now in my shared house :) which you get your good and bad parts from. I love them all (who I live with) but people do tend to steal your food etc 😂 luckily we all get along and we can put things into our WhatsApp group. Also, if you’re not married that might help too? Sometimes they only take into consideration if you’re actually married rather than living together? :) you can always give student finance a call and see what they say? If you have children you can claim up to 80% childcare as well but again, they use your partners income for this! Which is really annoying 😭 xx
Alex the One I was a completely different person when I started the degree 🙈 so unconfident, shy, had zero self worth. Nursing changes you for the better. But be prepared to step outside that comfort zone 💕🌟🌻 xx
@@ClaireCarmichael I always try to get out of it by doing things that i don't want to, such as cold showers, but i will forever be an introvert haha, new sub, love the accent! 👋🏻
I’m going to do an apprenticeship this year. Would you say nursing would effect me if I have learning difficulties and need to work during the day because I can get sleepy
The NMC have regulations where if you have an occupation health issue, you can request not to do nights 💙 I know many student nurses with learning disabilities and they do amazing :) so I don’t see why you should excel too 😍 xx
Quick question: if you are studying in the UK how did you get amazon prime student discount? When I try register it say it is only for USA based students.
@@ClaireCarmichael it doesn't change the selection list no matter which I pick. I am Irish anyway and study in the Netherlands but even if i change my location it gives me USA options only.
jermey smith This is amazing!!! You’ll be fantastic second year don’t worry! :) the work load goes up but as long as you stay organised you’ll be fine :) keep going!! 💕🌻
jermey smith I’ve not graduated yet :) I officially finish in November 💕 we’ve got our management placement left to do :) almost there tho!! Thank you xx
Edmgrl Haha thank you! 😂 When I was younger an older lady told me ‘never use perfumes products on your face, and wash in cold water’ that’s the trick 🤗🌟 I’ve always stuck by that.
Thanks for the reassurance, I am going to start my nursing course at 53!
I'm 41 and start nursing school in September in Canada.
You are so sweet ♥️
I’m 30! Doing my GCSEs for one year! Then I will be doing A-levels for two years!
Then University for four years!
I can realise that it’s a long journey and challenging, but that’s okay and I don’t care about being 30 or 60 or 18
I enjoy it and I’m gonna smash it and win Noble Prize✨
Good luck for all mature students in the world! Remember it will happen.
Thank you the emotional video Claire😢
Ageed Whoop!! Amazing goals right there and you will smash it! 🌟
Stay focused and keep going all the way. You’ve definitely got this 🌟
It’s never too late to do anything in life :) keep being awesome. Hope you have a great day 🌟🌻
Where are you doing gcse and A level
Have you thought about doing "access to higher education"? it's equivalent to 3 A levels and accepted in almost all universities, it's for mature students 19+.
I'm 37 and just started my access course into nursing 😁 I'm so nervous and doubting myself whether I can do it and I'll be too old, but this video has given me that bit of confidence so thank you!! X
Hi Amy all the best with your access course. I did it last year, I'm 35 hoping to go to uni this year.
I’m hoping to start my access course 2021 sept. Can I ask how your course is going?
@@shazedakhanom2281 it's going well, if I'm honest it took some getting used to, learning how to write essays again and managing my time with 2 children, but I'm coping!! I'm enjoying it more now I'm doing more medical based things, to begin with it was a lot of things to get you used to researching and writing. Good luck 🤞 x
Amazing! I start my journey in September and i'm 39. I really hope to make new friends who are as positive and passionate as you :)
Morning Emma!
How amazing!! I'm sure you'll meet some amazing friends :D Friends you'll make for life. Thank you so much :) xx
How did it go Emma?? X

Very grateful for your video , I’m 50 and got a place in UNI to start my nursing course in this year . Very nervous as I’m too matured . But like this profession so much so couldn’t resist to try . So your video is extremely supportive. Many thanks

Lucy-Marie Hatton How exciting!! I hope you love every minute like I have 😍💙 well done!! 🌟 xx
Thank you so much for sharing your journey 💓
I hope you're getting on well now :)
It doesn't matter how long it takes you, Nursing will always be around waiting for you when you're ready.
Good story Claire. thank you for inspiring a male mature student nurse like me.

Thank you

:) Hopefully you'll get something to help you along. x

I think I covered GP applications somewhere 🤔 I’ll have to have a look haha.
Rebecca Rayne omg that’s ridiculous!!! 😭 how does anyone afford to live on that? :( xx
Thank you. Just staring in a few weeks. Hope you are safe.

I’m going back as a mature nursing student next year and really nervous but this helped 💕
Jack G Awww good luck Jack! You’ll be amazing don’t worry :) it’s always daunting at first but you’ll soon settle back in. X
You’ll be fine honestly!
Melissa Young it’s awful I think. Really bad! More needs to be done for parents I think.
It will all be totally worth it though 💕 x
Melissa Young Have you looked into the child dependants allowance? It’s £1000 a year but not sure what the terms are of that one but worth checking. Most universities also have their owns grants/bursary’s that you may be eligible for so worth checking too ☺️
This has been sooo reasurring I'm starting in September 30years old with 2 children and petrified of the acedemic side so glad I found your vlog x x x
Clare Sober Whooop! Exciting times for you! You’ll be fine don’t worry. How old are your little ones? One of my fiends revises with her little one :) teaches her all the physiology and it helps her remember! I think that’s a great way to do it too 💕 xx

@@claresober7272 Awww that's so cute!! I think that will really help you revise :D Thats so lovely. Theres so many students with children on our course and they've done so well! You all deserve a medal for it I swear haha xx
You can do this 💕
Academic side you’ll be fine :) you’ll be on the ball and revise and be amazing!! Don’t panic. X

So more younger people are applying rather than older 🤔
I hope you can manage to make some friends at least 🥰 not everyone is immature. Even the younger ones on our course are mature and lovely xx
Vivien Petre You’re not that much older lol
In the town we have 2 university. Both are good but one of them is bigger, has more money, higher on rankings, etc.... While the other one is more supportive. So more mature students go to this second one while I'm at the first one.
I know 8-10y doesn't seems much but it is actually. For the same reason why a romantic relationship between a 18 & 28 is questionable but between a 28 & 38 seems fine.
I’d love to do veterinary it would be a huge loan..I’m 34...you give me hope ♥️
Laura D Aww you can do it!! Some Vets will do apprenticeships I think?? And pay for you to do it? 🤔 I don’t know where I heard this now 😂 but worth looking into! And asking your local vets x
Claire Carmichael currently researching it at the moment. 💜
Morning! Thank you so much 🥰
I’m glad I can help in some way. Nothing is ever easy in life is it 😆 but we have to do what we can :) it’s so worth it! X
I am 41 and going to a UK Uni this Sep’23.
Whoop!! Well done 🙌🏻🙌🏻
I will be doing the return to nursing course and I am in my forties ( i feel like I'm 30) but a little concern that I will be like an outsider
treeoflife 2015 Morning! Aww amazing! Well done 👏🏻🥰 Noooo you won’t be an outsider. You’re going to be fabulous and in the same boat as everyone else on the course :) x
@@ClaireCarmichael Thank you so much for your kind words, I love your videos your content just so helpful and encouraging.
You just have to stay organised and focused That's all x
So you can see what sort of things go on :)
Just be prepared to wash and dress people, clean sick, blood, vomit etc. All the nitty gritty stuff 🙈 sometimes that’s a shock to people who haven’t done care before :) xx
@@ClaireCarmichael honestly you are a god send and I have been mentally preparing myself. I will have a go at what you said and let you know how it works out. Once again thank you for all your encouraging words you're a star 🤗
kristal Alexander aw yes! Please let me know if you manage to get in and see the clinics :) that would be so good! You’re welcome. Thank you 💙💕🌻 xx
Hey Claire,
I love your videos so much!
I did nothing before starting and did alright :) x
just a question, how do you do bank?? as i would like to do it when i start in September for nursing :) great video! xx
toni bottom you can have a look on the NHS website and the nhs job site for bank jobs :)
Also after your first placement in the trust you’re in, you can apply for a fast track back shift ☺️(whether all trusts do this I’m not sure) :) x
You need to complete a 12 week placement usually, but occasionally there are bank jobs where they will train you fully. Rotherham Hospital just gave loads of students jobs. Good luck
I'm starting my nursing journey this year. Going back to college to re sit my gcses so I can apply for an access course 🕺🕺
Amazing!!!! Well done Pete!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
@@ClaireCarmichael thank you. Just want to get started. Any advice would be amazing. Started to follow you on insta
Me too I am 35 your ahead than me I am doing Btec level 2
So it's not too late at 24? I'm really faltering, thank you for this video
Alex the One 24 😂 is young! You’re fine! Haha. Get applying 🤗 x
@@ClaireCarmichael Well i'm kind of shy so thanks for the words, wish you the best :D
Alex the One Haha! I’m forever an introvert too! No one ever realised this 🙈 love it! Keep being you and don’t change! :)
Wow! U are an amazing person😘
Jonnel Assibey You’re too kind!! Haha. Thank you. Hope you’re having a great weekend x
I’m going to do an apprenticeship this year. Would you say nursing would effect me if I have learning difficulties and need to work during the day because I can get sleepy
The NMC have regulations where if you have an occupation health issue, you can request not to do nights 💙
I know many student nurses with learning disabilities and they do amazing :) so I don’t see why you should excel too 😍 xx
you looks perfect and im 29
Quick question: if you are studying in the UK how did you get amazon prime student discount? When I try register it say it is only for USA based students.
Check you’re on Amazon UK. There’s UK and a USA version :)
@@ClaireCarmichael it doesn't change the selection list no matter which I pick. I am Irish anyway and study in the Netherlands but even if i change my location it gives me USA options only.
I'm starting uni at 26. I think I am the oldest out of the Snapchat group they've set up. It's scary.
Hopefully you’ll have more people your age and above when you start ☺️ but age is just a number anyway! Lol x
Great content and subscribed! Would love hear what you think of our grad school channel. Thank you.
You are amazing
❤️❤️❤️
I'm 19 and going into second year at bcu Nursing 💕😩😍🧪💊
jermey smith This is amazing!!! You’ll be fantastic second year don’t worry! :) the work load goes up but as long as you stay organised you’ll be fine :) keep going!! 💕🌻
@@ClaireCarmichael thank you!!! Congratulations on graduating ,Nurse Claire
jermey smith I’ve not graduated yet :) I officially finish in November 💕 we’ve got our management placement left to do :) almost there tho!! Thank you xx
And you need music fs
you are very beautiful and amazing!
You don't feel 35? Girl, you don't look like one either. You look like in mid 20s
You look like your in your 20's girl....whats your secret??
Edmgrl Haha thank you! 😂 When I was younger an older lady told me ‘never use perfumes products on your face, and wash in cold water’ that’s the trick 🤗🌟 I’ve always stuck by that.
@@ClaireCarmichael I can definitely see the value in those steps, thank you!!✔👏
