Manchester phrasebank is an amazing resource. I use it all the time in my linguistics degree. I can't wait to go to university again for my nursing Masters though 😅. Xx
Ahh loving all your vlogs! I start the Access to Nursing (as a mature student) this Sept and just got accepted to do ward volunteering in Liverpool Royal (yay!) I feel your channel is going to help so so much! Xx
I'm glad i found you Claire! I'm starting my nursing later this month (second year as I just finished LVL4 Health Care) and was a bit panicky about all that. xxx
Hello 😆, please could you make a video on the maths you need to know for nursing and any books or online courses you recommend for helping with maths, thank youuuuu. I am starting nursing in September and your videos have been very helpful :)
Ceri S I did a video about maths and drug calculations :) have a look. But every university is different in the questions they ask and what they ask. So it’s better to find out what your university does. There’s loads online if you have a google of ‘drug calculations’ the RCN and NMC both have stuff for you :) take a look. X
I've recently decided to go back to uni and study adult nursing, I'm 27 and it feels like a good time for a career choice but I'm so scared and nervous as maths isn't my strong point and I'm absolutely clueless with all of this!!
Aw well done!! Don’t give up and keep going! You’ll be just fine. Don’t worry about maths, it will be ok. Just practice online, BBC bite size maths etc. That helped for my first year. NMC / RCN have drug calculations as well which is helpful :) xx
@@ClaireCarmichael Thank you!! Just waiting on my interview :) Great tip, I'll spend the rest of my time going through them and practicing as much as I can before uni starts! Thanks for the tip, I have loved all your videos, they're so in-depth and real. Made me more excited to go into this amazing profession! xx
Hi, I love your channel and all your videos are so helpful. Just a quick question, how much did you remember from the access course or how much did you revise? I guess you do learn everything in the first year about fisiólogo but how much do you need to know. Thanks
Kristyna Gabrielova We didn’t have any exams where I was. It was all assignments, so I didn’t really revise anything 😂 I was that person back then who learnt what I needed to, to pass the course 🙈 which why I had to learn it all again at uni 5 years later 🙈 x
Hi Claire, I currently work in a Homecare service Agency as Care assistant and I am interested in becoming a Qualified Nurse as my Career. I hold a Level 2 Extended diploma in Health and social care, I have fews years work experience as a Home care worker, also I hold a functional skills math level 2 and functional skills English level 2 qualifications. 1) Can I do a Nursing Degree with open University with this qualifications or go University with this Qualifications? 2) what is the best route for me 2 become a qualified Nurse at age of 33? 3) Can I do a course in open university online Nursing Degree without doing a Access to Nursing Course. 3) Do you get paid doing placements in the hospital while doing your Nursing Degree in university?
Hey! The access course was a diploma, so I’m assuming you’d be ok with your diploma? :) best thing to do is call the uni or open university you’re applying to and ask them if those qualifications are ok? Because every uni has a different criteria to be honest. So best to check with them :) Placements aren’t paid sadly. They never have been. But if you went through uni you’ll get a £5,000 grant per year for nursing and you’ll get the student loan. Which helps a bit 😅 You can also do an apprenticeship, or the nursing associate route which are both paid roles. So it depends on your circumstances and what you can afford to be honest rather than age related :) we had loads of student in my year over 50 and they managed really well xx
Hi Claire, just on the subject of stethoscopes; we were sent a list with a choice of 3, we do have to buy one. And can I ask, what kind of bag/backpack did you use for days in class? Thanks so much!
Dawn Zabel That’s weird that they’ve said that?! Wonder why that is... what are you studying? I had a Cath Kidston bag back for uni and a larger back pack for placement to fit all my uniform etc inside as well as food. X
@@ClaireCarmichael I'm doing the BSc Psychiatric Nursing; now I am in Ireland as I got the course offer here but still...I had to buy one, and yes, I watched the video after I messaged and saw the bags, I love the Cath Kidston!
@@ClaireCarmichael Sorry? Do you mean because it's an Irish course? The courses are really similar so I still found it surprising, but of course there can be variations too!:)
Thank you ❤
