Can you be real anywhere? I don't think we're consistent enough to have a flat out state of being real other than when we're completely alone, but even then we were likely tainted by the outside world in some temporary way.
I agree. But, to the extent that everything and everyone we come into contact with will have an impact on us, those things and lives constantly redefine our sense of reality. I am convinced of the idea that we are always as real as we can be at any given moment and in any given situation, but we are also in a constant state of becoming real - that is, reaffirming and reconfiguring our reality - in every subsequent moment, with every experience and every interaction we have.
@@John-ir4id Totally, I think that would be a great reworked definition of 'real' for the sake of further discussion: a varying and swapping between what you are currently and what you are to become, with the state of real becoming more prominent with time. That is to say, I am more real than I was an hour ago in that I've come to realize more (I have what I had an hour ago, but also the gained experience from that very hour). My only issue with reworking the definition in this way is how it alters the discussions within the video slightly. In the video I believe what makes an experience real is the authenticity (in fact a title of can you be authentic online may have been more appropriate) coming from whether the experience was meaningful or not. This, however, is contrary to our, or at least my, reworked definition, which presupposes all experiences to be meaningful in some way or another. While this may simply be a projection of my feelings on the matter as an inherent aspect when it is far more likely to be an exchangeable quality, and that 'real' in the context of the video is offered more as a shorthand to allow the discussion to flow more easily, I'd still love to see clarifications like this at the beginning of the video. It would lay a ground work for the viewers to see where all sides are coming from initially and see how an effective dialougue can lead to a mutual understanding. Of course I thought the dialouge was still great between the two, I would just try to reccomend something like this for some of the more nitpick prone members of the audience or even for those plainly curious in that aforementioned process.
@@Moircuus That's one thing I love about video comment sections. The best commentary can be an intelligent supplement to the video, widening and shifting the scope of the discussion not to the exclusion of the original video, but in addition to it.
I seriously think the idea of fake behavior is completely false. Look we don't have a fixed behavior . We all react to a situation form our understanding of life. And how I behave is entirely depends upon the situation I put into. If you interview people who I knew form my personal life to professional life. And ask them to describe my personality and behavior. And now you get different variations of my self. And if you ask who I'm . What is my true personality I cant pick one cause all of them are my true personality. The reason I behave differently form person to person because of the situation they create. Form my girlfriend perspective I may be great guy. But form my best friend perspective I may be most perverted person on Earth cause he knows my all secrets. And idea of how we behave on internet . People assume mask hide them but the truth is mask revels there behavior by hiding identity. So same thing happens on internet. "When you look at a person form multiple lense of view. You no longer see a human rather a biological code that we all shared. " "We can. Only say how one person behaved but we can't describe there personality cause no one has one " (I never had a girlfriend tho. Open to arguments )
I was looking up this channel and it autocorrected to syphilis. This has nothing to do with the actual video I just want others to understand the pain and suffering I just experienced
What is real nowadays? Desires, dreams, and tastes are now shaped by marketing and archetypes from the moment of birth. I thought I was “original” until I worked in branding and learned where my tastes and preferences actually came from.
Well the real challenge at hand here is, "what does real mean?" I'm asking because it seems like we should all know the answer. I bet the definition I give is totally different from yours, and someone else would say something different from both of us. It's the same problem as being perfect. It's not possible because there's no solid definition to aim for.
@@Rabbit-the-One there's a little anectode I remember from when I was a teenager, I'll probably always remember it, one of my teachers said that a girl my age wrote an essay about reality, the gist of it is that we're all wearing masks, we have a mask at school, one with family, one with friends, to extrapolate we have a mask online, at work, everywhere, the only real me is the one voice that is talking in my head and even that is misguided at times. I guess there is no me? Everything I am is in relation to the others afterall. I'm a sweetie to my girl, I'm a rude, sometimes funny guy at work, so who knows what I am really.

Well, as someone who's been vlogging for a decade on TH-cam, providing the mythical, once-popular & always revered "100% REAL, Genuine, UNfiltered, UNscripted, UNedited LIFE" of a disabled & always ill single millennial, but my complete lack of growth at all has proven people actually DON'T WANT THAT... I ask every time I try doing a new vlog "Why TF do I bother anymore?" But I guess when you could literally cease to exist at any moment from a dozen different health reasons, you feel more urgency to get yourself out there... ⏰️
"Can you be real online?" That makes me feel like its a question of motivation and knowing which motivations have superficial roots and which don't. Personally the most I engage online with is an occasional snapchat story post and the occasional comment on something (aside from direct messaging). As far as posting on snapchat stories it's really only ever music recommendations to any of my friends and I find myself doing it because a song connected with me and helped me get through the day. I only hope I can pass on that same connection to someone else who might need it. You could argue I'm doing it to make myself feel better, but it comes from a place of worry for others. I can't always see it, but I know people are going through rough times and while I can't always directly be the one helping I know music and art in general has the ability to be that cushioning someone could use.

No you can't, the urge to make a circle online instead of in real life stems from the belief that the people in your real life have rejected you
