Education should be free, so I hope you enjoy this 2 hour sculpting session. But if you'd like to dive deeper into Blender and support me at the same time, consider my Blender course to start your 3D art journey. Happy sculpting 😁🙌
This is pure gold. I just finished the entire video and what a delight to have someone take their time to show the entire process (with a great sense of design to boot). Not just the nuts and bolts but the creative process, which in most tutorials is sorely missing. It takes guts to post a video this long in this era of ADHD and quick fixes, so this'll never get any crazy high viewing numbers. Yet this kind of thoughtful video is like a sip of water in the desert for anyone creative looking to up their game. Thank you, I would definitely watch other long format videos like these.
After seeing the nutcracker short, I was wondering "does this guy sell courses?" and here's a fully free tutorial! I'm not even a beginner, I just loved the art style and workflow. It generates very pleasant results.
You have no idea how this tutorial not just helped me in my college's task, but how I liked to work in blender. I loved the way you teach, and your voice is very chill. Big hug from Brazil!
I've been putting off character sculpting for months because it looks like witchcraft to me and I was convinced I'd never get the hang of it, but your tutorials have pushed me to finally make it happen! I mean, my first sculpt is hideous, but at least it's recognisable, which I couldn't have done without your help. Checking out your course next!
The night before starting this tutorial I was literally crying with desperation because of how hard sculpting was to me as a beginner. Now I’ve got my own character that looks pretty good and all thanks to your teaching skills. Please keep doing what you do I know it takes a lot of time and patience to make these videos but it’s helping a lot of people like me 😊 thank you so much for this!!

It took 4 days to get through it all, but it was well worth the journey. I learned so many things and by the end, most of it was second nature. This was an amazing learning experience. Your soft voice and calm demeanor had me thinking throughout that you're the Bob Ross of Blender. Thanks!
There are a lot of things to thank you for! First of all, thank you for not using music, and for talking to us throughout the tutorial. Not only do you have pleasant, calming voice, but you give a lot of tips as you're "chatting," as well as reminding us to have fun and experiment. It's very useful that you usually mention the shortcut keys that you're using, as although the keys are displayed onscreen, I'm usually too busy watching what you're actually doing to be able to spare attention to look there. Thank you too for the clothes modeling section - I looked on youtube for clothing tutorials but they all seemed to be using physics sims and stitching etc., and I was really scratching my head trying to work out what was useful for a stylized character. Which brings me to the last point, which is thank you for making stylized characters. There are a lot of tutorials which assume that photorealism is the end goal, and as a beginner I'm overwhelmed by what I *do* need to learn, without having to learn what I can safely ignore for NPR characters. So, TL;DR: Thank you!
I just finished the whole tutorial and it is VERY helpful! Thank you so much for making this! You did very well saying what you were doing, what buttons, and why. I learned a LOT!
This was awesome - very informative, well presented. It’s really helped get me over that knowledge hump to get started with sculpting in Blender, so thanks!
Hi, sorry, at 1:11:41 where you're selecting the corner vertices of the collar and moving/adjusting it, how come that's still being mirrored on the other side? The previous step was alt+select the edge, press scale, extrude inwards. extrude again on the Z-axis, then scale inwards to make the inside collar. After that point, you change from selecting edges to vertices and because it's no longer an alt+select of edges, but rather a drag select of a single vertex, I don't understand why it's still being mirrored?
@@KeelanJon are you referring to the mirror X/Y/Z above the N panel? i have that selected just like in the video and it's still only moving one side. Edit: nevermind. I think it's cause the mesh isn't exactly symmetrical, despite it looking like it is. I don't remember exactly what I moved when I was adjusting the collar, but I must have.
@@christopherchang00 Yes this can cause the symmetry function not to work if it's not perfectly symmetrical. Try deleting one half of the object and using a mirror modifier to bring it back 😁
Nice! I really have to get a new graphics tablet, hate that my Huion Kamvas 22 Plus just up and died on me. Really want to work along with this tutorial. 😩
Followed you tutorial up to 30 mins and when I join the nose to the head then enter sculpt mode the nose goes dark grey and the head goes green. I can only sculpt on the head but not the nose. How do I fix this issue so I can sculpt on the nose as well?
Hi, thanks for the comment. It sounds like you might either have a mask or face sets enabled which are typically used to mask off areas you don't want to sculpt on. Try hitting ALT+M in sculpt mode to remove any masking. Hope that helps.
I want to learn sculpting, but I don't know how. Maybe this video can help me. I have been following you for a long time, and I want to create characters like you, so thank you for this video. Also, could you please make a complete Sculpting Basics to Advanced tutorial for absolute beginners, so that people like me can learn sculpting like you? It would be amazing if it’s free too 😅. Thank you in advance if you consider it!

is there a tutorial for the body parts ?

Great tutorial keelan, i just finished the character face tutorial, learned a lot of things. thank you!
i thought this was going to be an add-on for your excellent gumroad course x
Not in this case, general I think education should be free, so I also like to offer free content when I can 😁 I hope you enjoy
thanks alot for this knowledge for the first time this has opened up my mind to atleast understand and start my project
thanks for the long form tutorial!
Great tutorial Keelan! Please do a tutorial on how to 3D print our scultures from Blender! Thank you!
Thank you so much for this tutorial, this is the best video on stylized head in a long time ❤
You're very welcome, I'm glad you enjoyed 😁
This is going to be awesome 🔥 🔥 🔥

In edit mode you can still enable symmetry in the top right corner 😁 Hope that's helps.

Don't let that hold you back, give it a go and just focus on learning the tools 😁
😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😵😵😵😵😵😵 Can't wait to watch!! Thanks!!!
Hello! I really love what you're doing. May I ask your computer's specs?
I hope you will show us animation for this character someday
Thank you sir you really help
When I do the “symmetrize” the entire head looks like it’s shriveling up and is 50% smaller than it originally was
Hey Keelan,
would be great if u could share your 3d printer details ..thnks
The color attributes still won’t show the texture even though I already connected it to the base color
Bro! is your beginner guide on Patreon?

Be sure to give this video ago, there's a lot of sculpting 😁
@@KeelanJon Ok, I will watch this video completely and then I will message again whether I learned it or not.
