Forget EVERYTHING you saw about the U7K on the livestream because after another 12 hours of break-in, it completely changed for the better. Filmmaker is now nearly equivalent to U8H and QM8 in overall brightness, ran the scenes in FMM. Brightness is nearly on par in with the other 2 TVs, and the only exceptions are slightly less contrast and lifted black bars as seen in the Greatest Showman "sparkly hat" scene. I will continue to let it break in to see if things get even better but WOW. For TVs the break-in period is absolutely necessary!

    • @Dhughe9
      @Dhughe9 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

Any chance a firmware update can or will correct the lifted black bars?! My only gripe with the u7k is light bleed even on black bars with local dimming in high even. Doesn’t make a difference 😪

How did the things you've mentioned have gotten better? Is it because of a new software update or is it because you changed something in the settings?

Thanks FOMO. You did a great job just putting all 3 tv's up and letting the comments fly. Thanks to Brian too. Liked wathing as you go through the settings seeing the effects of each. After you put the u7k in standard picture mode it looked better than the other 2 from here. Wonder what if all were in standard mode. Wonder what the 65u8k will cost. and how much it will be different than the u8h? Looking forward to future videos. Keep on giving us good honest reviews and keep up the good work.

He left advising he with do some homework and call me in a few days but it looks like they are going to junk it out. So I will have a $950 + tax credit and have been thinking of going a bit bigger with the U8H 75". With the new releases now what to do? Wait for the U8K or buy the U8H 75"?

Mr. FOMO - You make an interesting point starting at 2:28:30 answering a question about which TV to get for those mostly watching 720p cable/streaming content, which was that one of SONY's strengths is how well it upscales and smooths out motion from 720p content. Any thoughts on a SONY that would be in the U7K price range? X85K?

Maybe bad isn't as bad as it used to be basically.

Hard to judge ; it's different from scene to scene and color to color , I think for 650$ the hisense u7k on standard mode is the best among all tvs available in the world ,, but if money is not a concern the tcl here looks better overall .

I agree with this as well, also I know your U8H was calibrated but you had the brightness set much lower while the U7k was maxed out, I think I saw 80% on the U8H, the higher nit HDR would've benefited from 100

Not sure if a comment on a stream this old will even be on your radar, but I'm looking to replace a 60" Samsung plasma that I bought in 2009. I have noticed in comparison with other TVs that mine is looking darker overall in comparison to newer TVs and I don't seem to be able to strike a good balance between accurate skin colors and colors being too vivid (if that makes any sense at all). I have Spectrum cable and we stream Amazon Prime, Disney, and other services from an Apple TV box. No gaming at all on this TV, mostly watch sports and movies and would like to bump up to 85". I would really like for it to perform really well right out of the box (if that's even a thing) because I'm not very knowledgeable about the different settings and would like to spend $2,000.00 or less and am willing to wait until Black Friday deals. Based on what I'll be using it for, do you have a TV that you would recommend?

I find it very disturbing that the U8K is so much more expensive than the U8H. The U8K is literally 50% more expensive than the U8H. At Best Buy the U8K has the absurd MSRP of $2299. For that price, there is NO WAY I would consider buying the U8K. One of the reasons the U8H was good was the U8H sold for $1,500. U8K should be selling for that same price. U8H is now only $1,399 or less at places.

Why are you doing comparisons on detail in specular highlights and blooming control with Active Contrast on High???
That is not even close to an apples-to-apples comparison. Of course the U7Ks specular highlight detail will be worse when your blowing them out completely with Active Contrast...
Blooming control also, Active Contrast very noticeably crushes blacks, comparing blooming will then obviously favor the U7K with crushed blacks.
Had to fast forward to 2 hours in to get back to some proper comparison with Acrive Contrast off.
Also, DTM On/Off toggle is literally the same thing as Active/Static. Active is DTM. Static is DTM Off...
How the TVs DTM compare is a different story, but it's not valid criticism for "less choice".
    Really disappointing stream.

To be fair to Brian, despite his inclinations for the more established brands, he does say near the end of the video that at the sub $1000 he would consider the U7K a must buy. He understands not everyone wants or can spend a couple thousands on a flagship miniLED and considers these solid models for the budget minded/restricted consumer.
