    I have owned a 75 inch U8K for 8 days. It is true that you can very easily adjust the colors, the shine. . . of this device. A week ago I received a very big software update. It took 30 minutes to load and install. Since this update, the image is more precise and the sound localization is improved. This TV is in my basement and its brightness is just right.
    I appreciated your review. And I'm very happy with this TV that I paid $300 less than the regular price. And at this price, the delivery people installed it free of charge.

    I'm stuck with low bit rate content over internet, but my TCL Q7 performs surprisingly well. I viewed Monster Hunter over streaming, and on my Blue Ray player as I also have this movie on disk... There is a huge difference in performance, as the Blue Ray can be jacked up to HDR and calibrated for a much more sharper and brighter image, whereas streaming the same movie performed better on Movie mode but lacked the detail of a Blu Ray signal. So you really need to consider your input source when it comes to getting the best image possible, the lesson here is that it's not always the TV that's the problem, it could be your internet, a bad cable, or maybe dust on the lens of your player.

    QUESTION: How are the "Viewing Angles" of these TV sets. Your video doesn't mention that when comparing the 75" versions, which is what I would be interested in, the U8K uses an IPS panel, while the QM8 uses a VA panel. In the past this has meant the VA usually has "Better Blacks" while the IPS usually has "Better Viewing Angles." However, these panels use the Mini-LED lights that have excellent black levels. This means the IPS screen using Mini-LED should by default be much closer to the VA Panel. I recently bought a VA panel monitor for my computer and I was forced to return it, because the moment my head moved just a couple inches from the center, the color would start to become very inaccurate. It was like this with another VA panel, too. I then got an inexpensive IPS panel from Element and the viewing angles were excellent - the colors remained accurate even when viewed from the side. As a result, I'm not excited about the idea of buying a VA panel TV. I like the idea of buying an IPS more; however, I don't like it that the U8K only uses a 8-Bit Panel. The QM8 uses a true 10-Bit Panel.

    • @stopthefomo
      @stopthefomo  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      As with all VA LCD panels generally, not great. Samsung and Sony flagship TVs are a little better thanks to their wide angle filters but you're paying a huge premium, and if you are paying the premium anyway, then I'd go with the S90C for even better wide angle saturation unless you need 85"!

      @@stopthefomo I recently saw the 75" IPS version of the U8K at Best Buy. Holy Shnykees! That TV has perfect "Black" levels, just like a VA; however, it also has perfect "Viewing Angles" similar to an excellent IPS. Have you see the 75" version and will you be doing a special test on it? If so, can you please use your "Starfield" comparison that was similar to the one used for the QM8 vs the XL90. It looks like the 75" U8K would not suffer from the Starfield Blackness problems that the QM8 did, simply because the 75" U8K has a completely different type of IPS panel.

    Hold up...when you get to the Netflix portion, are you saying you go in and change settings to put the TVs in a different picture mode than they were in when you were using the benchmark UHD disk? I've been wondering if you use the UHD disk to adjust settings, does that only apply to watching content on a UHD or BluRay disk? Do those settings carry over to a good picture when switching to Netflix, Hulu, Prime, Peacock, Max, or any other app from a device like a Roku, Apple TV, or FireStick? I would not be using any of the built-in apps. Are you suggesting if you transition from a disk to a set top streaming device, that settings would need be changed? Then you use completely different settings when test You TubeTV. This all seems like a lot of hassle. Do people actually jump through all these hoops when going from one streaming app to another? Isn't there a one size fits all set it and forget it type setting so one wouldn't have to go through all that rigamarole? You would need some kind of cheat sheet next to the remote along with the steps to remember how to get to the settings. Hypothetically, if I'm using my Roku (on a Frontier FIOS connection) and watching say Top Gun: Maverick/Paramount+, will I need to change settings again to watch Bosch/Prime, again to watch Ahsoka/Apple TV+ app, and again to watch MNF/ESPN on TH-cam TV, or TNF on Prime?

You turned the light sensor off but he did also and mentioned the preset is just bugged and broken (capped at 900 nits) regardless. Why is this crippled U8K filmmaker mode being used against the QM8 which is calibrated operating at full blast

    • @stopthefomo
      @stopthefomo  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I didn't notice any issues or "crippling" with my FMM and it actually matched the brightness of the QM8 in all counts, only the colors were slightly off due to it not being calibrated. Calibration would not fix any dimming issues. This is why my review does not mention color differences. When it comes to brightness, my U8K was definitely not capped and if you watch my review, the only mention that the U8K fell short was in full screen sports (Vivid or Standard) which was very minute at that! U8K's biggest disadvantage is the inability to tone map 2000 nit content as well as the QM8 - that's it really. It's definitely not brightness in FMM (for me at least)
