      did you have less CPU use with the RME or it doesn't work like that. I'm with UAD Twin, and dude I have a ton of cracks and pops from it. My pc is pretty new..

      Way less CPU tax with RME. I would consistently see a 20 - 30% CPU background tax without any DSP plugs running in console. Just idle. On a M1 Max machine. Using the same utility meter, I see Totalmix idling at 2 - 3% background.@@Ultraskill23

    Word! RME got amazing support with multi-platform drivers for current and decade old hardware, incredible agile routing, which is so easy to scale up, clean low floor noise converters. After getting my PCI Hammerfall 9652 (which still you can use) I've never looked back and now i'm with UCX II. These guys are just the best! Love them!

    My babyface arrived today, i just setup routing and snapshots on 2 of my buttons. I use it for livesets, in case Ableton crashes i click the button and my headphone output of my digitakt is directly routed to main out. That way i can play some beats while rebooting. It's freakin awesome and that way i don't have to drag along a seperate mixer. Love your studio setup!

    great ideas! I only set up a couple presets in total mix when I got my HDSP but am inspired to make more now. I'm surprised he didn't mention the latency reduction from the custom drivers. I've been fighting soundcard latency for 25 years and RME is the quickest so far. it's imperceptible when the plugin load is light to medium but of course has it's limits when you get crazy stacking up VSTs or running those problem childs like ozone

    Awesome video and cool to see your setup! I've been running RME for years, owned an OG Babyface, Babyface Pro, Babyface Pro FS and UFX+. I always recommend RME to my friends, most of whom have been swayed by the "cool factor" and marketing of the UA ecosystem. I understand the appeal of UA and their plugins, but with RME I get HALF the round trip latency (6ms at 128 buffer, or 4ms at 64 buffer) over a USB 2.0 connection that a friend's Apollo gets (13ms at 128 buffer) over Thunderbolt 3 and I can monitor through my DAW with any plugins I want & zero perceivable latency.... I can mix full sessions with 60+ tracks, tons of VSTs and my CPU intensive mastering chain on a 64 sample buffer without so much as a hiccup from my Babyface Pro FS. The converters, mic pres and headphone amps are the cleanest I've ever used, especially in a desktop format interface. This is true PROFESSIONAL grade, German engineered, equipment that has the stability and reliability to be trusted in the studio or on stage. Totalmix FX is the icing on the cake, with the most flexible routing I've ever seen.

    I can vouch for this setup almost to the tee. ADI 2 Pro Fs/ Digiface/ FerroFish. This is hands down the best sounding interface combo I’ve ever had, but more importantly, for the year I’ve had it, I’ve had no problems. No drop outs, no lag, no cpu spikes,,,etc. etc. You can obviously get the UFX3 now for cheaper than the combo we have, that’s the only draw back. Totalmix is an amazing bonus feature.

      Sounds really good, but antelopes drivers and stability are iffy for that price point. I would actually go for a UFX 2 + or 3 over an antelope. It’s an all in one box with more ins and outs than a Antelope

      @manykzdj792 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @dazeja thank you for your advice, yeah I know that antelope not stable as rme but people who own it still willing to sacrifice stability for higher quality sound, do u think converter on ufx3 better than rme adi-2 pro? Or its same sound just more outputs? Thank you

    • @dazeja
      @dazeja 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@manykzdj792 Honestly I can't hear the difference in the convertors. I would buy a converter based on features instead of sound. One thing to know is that the adi-2 pro doesn't come with totalmix. ufx3 does. I didn't get it because I already had the digiface/Raydat and couldn't afford a ufx and a adi-2 pro at the same time. Thanks for making this video, Decap. Since the RME UFX+ has the 16 ins/outs you need, was there a reason you decided to go with the ADI-2 Pro and the Ferrofish Pulse instead of using a single unit like the UFX+? Did you own the Ferrofish already? Or was a another beneficial reason for going that route?

    • @johntaylor8271
      @johntaylor8271 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I had the same question. The use of the ADI-2 Pro and Ferrofish Pulse shouldn't be necessary with the RME UFX+ or its predecessor, the RME III. However, if he's using the UCX II then it makes more sense to use the ADI-2 Pro and the Ferrofish Pulse. Are you sure he is using a UFX+?

    • @ZekeMagnar
      @ZekeMagnar ปีที่แล้ว

      @@johntaylor8271 Having re-read what I wrote, I could see how you came to that conclusion. But no, I didn't mean to say that he owned the UFX+, I was just wondering why he didn't buy that instead of the UCX II/ADI-2 Pro/Ferrofish Pulse combo, since the UFX+ had so many ins/outs in the unit itself. I thought, as mentioned, that perhaps there was a good reason to choose the 3 units vs the single UFX+, but perhaps he already owned the ferrofish and found it pointless to get the UFX+? Or maybe he was new to RME and simply didn't know about the UFX+? Or perhaps it was discontinued when he jumped on board? Who knows. Either way, hope that makes sense now.

      @@TimeManagementSolu I had built a new computer a few months before so I was already able to run a lot of VSTs. Not sure if the interface added more to my recent power boost?
      I was mainly drawn to them because of the latency and playing guitar DI with virtual amps. RME has the lowest numbers at the lowest buffers. My producer friends aren't concerned with latency like I was and have gone to other interfaces from other companies swayed by converters and interface processing.
      So far its great. On windows in ableton, you have to change buffer in a weird way and not in ableton itself but that doesn't happen on Mac. Outside of that, no complaints.

    Not to take away from what you’re saying about the quality of RME’s drivers, which I don’t disagree with… but they are not the only company that writes their own bespoke audio drivers. (Anyone who makes a Thunderbolt interface can’t rely on class compliant drivers, they have to write their own.) Just a point of clarity.
    Arguably, RME’s drivers are the best. And their software support for their “legacy” audio interfaces is unarguably the best.

    RME makes the worst interfaces because they turned their backs on musicians. It costs over $30,000 for an 96 channel RME MADI setup, but it costs less than $8000 for a MOTU setup with AVB networking. The MOTUs are very high spec and score high on DiffMaker, and they have matrix routing for all IO so it's not like there's a compromise. With 2x HDSPe RayDat cards installed in your system, you can only run one single 16 channel ADAT converter @ 96 kHz per card. That's a total of 32 channels ADAT and 8 channels of AES and SPDIF shared between the two cards. That runs out instantaneously. As you grow your setup, RME is going to take you for a ride. Let me tell you 40 IO is not a lot. You can barely even setup a summing bus and a few FX chains and hook up a few synths. It runs out immediately and you need 4X of those ADI-2 FS so at least you get 8 more channels. Out of all the RME products ADI-2 FS is one of the only that's smart to buy. Even RMEs more inexpensive portable interfaces end up being a roadblock because you can't easily expand them without going into the MADI price ranges, I.e. $2700 to convert MADI to ADAT. The whole RME system is not viable to grow with unless you want to go into commercial installation prices. It's only usable if you stay with a small setup with a few synths and barely anything working. I can't do it because it's such a nightmare being out of IO and not able to do anything. Like, wanna have a DC-coupled Ferrofish Pulse 16 CV for some IO for working with Eurorack gear? Bam there's your setup gone, 16 channels lost now you can't do anything again. The way to solve this is by getting away from RME.

    RME Multiface II PCIe still going strong after 13 years!
    You can't say that about many interfaces out there.
