  • A lot of people have been asking me about which audio interface they should choose. Here's why I picked RME UFX III, ADI-2/4 Pro SE and Babyface Pro FS.

    I’ve been rocking the Babyface Pro FS for the past week or so. Posting my Apollo on reverb tomorrow. This RME is a game changer. For anyone looking to buy one, just be patient when learning the mix software. It’s worth the learning curve.

      what makes the rme workflow better than the apollo? or does it just sound better?

    • @antoniofontan3934
      @antoniofontan3934 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I've never had an Apollo so I can't speak on that workflow or "sound" but I would say the main reason is the totalmix software which makes routing anything to anything really fast and easy. Personally I think people exaggerate the learning curve because for me the main reason totalmix is so good is because of how simple and useful it is. That in combination with their top shelf drivers, AD/DA and other pro features depending on the interface they pack a lot of value in those little boxes

    • @anthonysmithjr.7388
      @anthonysmithjr.7388 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      so is the idea of totalmix is that you just leave your mics always plugged in and total mix just routes you wherever to whatever you want.@@antoniofontan3934

      @@anthonysmithjr.7388The RME conversion is better / The Preamps are better and latency is better! I have directly A/B compared the RME to the Apollo and the RME is significantly better in every regard! The mic pres especially! The Apollo is good, don’t get me wrong but it not in the same league as the RME!

    Extremely informative! I was looking hard at the UCX II for the desk and a Babyface Pro FS for on-the-go... I ended up going with an Apogee Symphony Desktop and a Duet 3/Dock kit for mobility purposes. Both have some iteration of on-board DSP. I really like the mic-pres and converters on the Symphony Desktop... I'm a fan o the Duet 3's form factor... had an OG Duet in the past.

    I got the UCX II a little while ago and I'm so happy with it. Surprisingly intuitive and easy to setup, at least from my perspective. I considered the Babyface Pro FS but I'm glad I went for the more expensive UCX II. TotalMix FX now has the RoomEQ feature, which I saw a video using a Sonarworks microphone with it. This should be the last interface I'll ever buy, hopefully. Great video, cheers.

    I was using the audio interface from the Push 3 for the last couple of months in my compact bedroom setup and it would crackle a lot even at medium to high buffer sizes. Got the RME Babyface Pro FS now and it runs smoother than anything I've ever tried before. I regret not getting it much earlier.

    After having been extremely fed up with Audient's and Antelope's Windows drivers, I finally have a UFX III on the way. Excited to not think about audio interfaces for the next decade or more lol

  • @lance134679
    @lance134679 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Seems like a good choice. I've had my RME PCIe card for 12 years and it's still going strong with reported latency as low as 0.7ms on Windows, which is great when using synth VSTs. Then I bump up the buffer size for mix down.

    My feelings exactly! So glad folks can find your video. Absolutely love RME interfaces -I have a UFX II and UCX II (Totalmix and DuREC all day), and love VST hosts (Gig Performer, Blue Cat Audio Patchwork). Using these features all together allowed me to go dawless. You can use DuREC to stem out WAVs while processing the I/O of your RME interface with your plugins or outboard gear. The Firefaces team up with everything flawlessly. The new room eq update feature is sweet too!

      Is there a difference between ufx Ii and ucx II sound-wise. Is it worth to go for ufx II for the converters. I m not planning to use that much IO’s

    • @7vinylsuite
      @7vinylsuite 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Ultraskill23 I'd say just go with the UCX II if you don't need the I/O and do not worry about the sound differences. The price difference is in the I/O and the amount of signal processing mostly. There is a small difference in conversion, but why get something bigger than you need? All of RME's stuff sounds good. My opinion of course.

    Only ARC USB is disappointing. Flimsy keys (one is broken here already), titles are erased very fast if you touch it with your fingers.
    And effects are crappy.
    BTW don't forget to update your Total Mix FX to use Room EQ and crossfade.

    Total mix is superb too, bit of a learning curve, but once the penny drops it's incredibly powerful.
    Been using a Multiface II for over a decade now, but need more connectivity and the converters are better on the UFX III too.

      It’s not fair to compare the RME to the Apollo! The RME conversion is better, the mics pres are better and the latency is better! The Apollo is good don’t get me wrong but like I say - they are not fairly comparable.

      @@Baron_Greenback I’ve heard some people say differently. I’ll be testing one soon. I have an apogee symphony desktop. People say that sounds better than the Apollo too. I think they both sound good. Its subjective. I’m not a mixing engineer though. If I was I would get a higher end converter.

  • @Deebles107
    @Deebles107 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I had a UFX ii and bought the Apollo x8 off a friend with the idea to test out both and sell on one of them. After a few months of testing I sold the UFX. It’s all subjective - there is no ‘better’. The preamps are more clinical and brittle sounding to me on the RME. Some may hear that as punchier but I found the UAD pres to be deeper and warmer sounding. Both different, neither perfect, neither better.
