My wife and I love watching your videos. I grew up hiking, camping, fishing, etc. Same for my wife. I'm 60 now and fighting cancer and not winning. We can't go out on trips anymore, so we live vicariously through you. You've brought a lot of joy to us, especially at times when I want to just give up. Wanted you to know that your videos have changed my life, as well as my wife's life. Thanks for what you do.
I'm so thankful that you decided to stick it out and post such great content. Being a youtuber is tough. Trust me, I know first hand, your videos are always awesome, I feel like I'm there with you and that takes a special kind of talent, thank you❤
That's a beautiful place, thanks for sharing Careena. My 15 yr old is going on a 75 mile / 120.7 km canoe and camping trip tomorrow with his scout troop. Definitely a great way to enjoy nature.
Damn girl! You're a beast (mad respect). You toss that canoe around, balance it with no hands, paddle, carry some more, then back and paddle upstream, all while filming. Very motivating, I need to grab my kayak for an adventure. You have mad skills, stay safe, and rock on!
Two years ago I got in to a canoe for the first time in decades. On the second stroke I capsized, lol. The shock of hitting the cold may lake water almost got me right there, and I remember thinking in those quick seconds having a life jacket on would have been smarter. Obviously I made it, but it can happen in the blink of an eye to even the most experienced.
What is so great about a day trip like this is this part 17:20. You are the only one to see the ducks take off, any wild life and you are the only ones in the area...cool. There's only certain images that are seen, it's like they are meant just for you to see. It makes you not want to leave that spot.
Thanks for your post and for taking this old man out for a beautiful time, very nice sitting out by fire at 530am drinking my pot of coffee with the morning bird song 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🤟🏼🖖🏼🤙🏼🇳🇿
The camera caught the sounds of the water wonderfully. Your adventure has me excited for mine in a couple weeks. A few of us are going hiking in the mountains of WY and will be doing some trout fishing as well. Hoping to catch a meal or two. Cheers!
Careena your videos are amazing! At 58 i still enjoy getting out in nature and camping. ( in Yurts now) when I have no one to go kayaking with you give me that extra boost of confidence I need every now and then to remind myself I can do this on my own. Look forward to your new adventures and content.
Great video. It's been 40 years since I lived in Ontario. My best memories growing up are of Algonquin. Sitting on a rock at dawn with the mist rising from the lake and the call of the loons. You really have to experience it to understand it. And by the way, the image of you standing at the falls with the canoe on your back deserves to be made in to a print. It really is a timeless image.
Great video Careena, enjoyed the tour and beautiful scenery, and the weather was decent, much respect for the hard work you put into everything you do, and the appreciation you have for the outdoors, take care and have a great weekend ahead.
Don't know why this was sent to me, but it was a bit of a shock...there's an Algonquin Park in Louisville Ky. Went sled riding there as a kid. Many years ago.
Another great one Careena. Beautiful area. I could have spent all day at the water falls. Thanks for sharing your day with all of us. See you on the next on. Have a great week!
Beautiful scenery, so nice to be out in the wilderness. Great video again, hopefully u have sort of protection with u out in the wild by urself, take care.
I'm unable to get out to explore the good ol'canadian outdoors for the next couple years so i Really do enjoy you taking us along on your adventures. really hits the spot when I'm home sick.
10:38 - I did that once when I was far from home with my Tinny. I had walked up the Gibson River from Shingle Mill when it struck me the consequences of not securing my boat. I ran in a panic only to find it was OK. I suffered the lesser Karma that time, but I suffered nevertheless. - Ontario, Canada
Another great video Careens. Nice relaxing and rewarding day. You’re an amazing person. Is there anything you can’t do…lol I could have spent all day at the water falls. Thanks for sharing your trip with all of us. See you on the next one. Have a great week!
Great video! You do not seem to have too many problems with the bugs. So much the better. Good thing you are in excellent physical condition. This type of activity requires one to be in proper shape. 17:55 - How well do those filters work? I suppose it depends on the initial state of the water.
Hi Careena, hope you are well and it is fantastic to see you again. Please do not stay away long. You are the only female bushcrafter, outdoors women I watch.
Beautiful scenery a lot like where I was raised in the Menominee Indian Reservation about a hr from Green Bay WI where I live now. Very nice videos! You do an awesome job getting around by yourself! Enjoy!
You said you needed this. I totally agree with you on that! Just have to get out into nature and refresh and reboot from everyday life. That’s Okanogan park right? Beautiful I’m sure, I’ve seen so many people post on TH-cam about it. I’m in Manitoba and at the Ontario border there is a similar place starting at Caddy lake, canoe under rock tunnels to the next lave and there are camping spots along the way also with a number of lakes to portage to. I really want to go back there again for a few days.
One of my first canoe trips was through the Barron Canyon some 40 years ago. I still remember camping 3 nights at Brigham Chute, exploring the canyon, and doing a lot of photography. I carried about 30 pounds of film gear at the time, The lookout trail along the canyon rim wasn't there then.
Did the Barron R once many yrs ago. Very nice piece of river . But for pickeral and bass i go elsewhere in the park. Not a tough trip. 2 hrs with a 300 m portage . 5 lb smallies and 3 lb pickeral. Caught in Aug.
The only thing missing from a perfect day on the lakes is catching a trout or two. I don’t know if using a fly Rod and fly to catch a trout would have been more successful. Aside from that, you gave us a glorious day in the Canadian countryside.
Bugs in Algonquin can drive you nuts, was up there with horses several years ago mid summer and the enormous black biting flies, like 2 inches long, were awful for the horses despite bugspray. About 40 years ago I went to summer camp and they taught us to lash our paddles in to the cross members to portage, those heavy old canvas canoes with 2 little kids staggering along trying to carry them. Have not been in a canoe since lol.
Hey Doug!! Glad you enjoyed it, always great to see a familiar face in the comments! Hope you're getting out there lots this year, definitely recommend venturing to this side of the park!
LOL I learned a LOT from this video. Gives me the OG Alexis outdoors vibe. First one being how you tie a line you a reel?! Like HOW did I not know that’s what that little knob thing was for and I’ve been fishing my entire life… anyway, I tried to do the Baron Canyon in the beginning of May and failed miserable… but I still made a good trip out of it for my channel. Just packed WAY too much. So thank you for showing me what I couldn’t get to 😂
Great to see you back in the woods surrounded by beautiful scenery. Just a comment, and I speak from experience. You might like to consider tieing your canoe front , back & sides. If you have to slam your brakes on, that canoe would fly off no problem. I saw it happen in high winds and heavy traffic. The canoe was a write-off. Happy paddleing
3 Points of contact is most recommended, the belly straps are very tight, and with the shape of the canoe the front belly strap would completely prevent the canoe from moving forward. I'm sure some canoes maybe are different though. This canoe is feather light as well, not a lot of momentum to move around with it lol. Never had any issues. I'm sure this is great advice for some other types of canoes out there tho! Thanks!
Oh man, I've been meaning to do a solo trip for like two weeks now and it keeps getting cancelled. Thanks for taking is along, I'm living vicariously trough you.😂
Hey CA, good to see this video and the Swift canoe, I have been looking at these and they have a UK distributor, so what are your views on this please, are you happy with it
Alexis what model of Garmin GPS is the one you're using, l spend alot of time alone in the bush and one of those could save my bacon 🥓 one of these days. Thank you BTW I know the area you're in well

As usual, great to watch. Always informative. Aussie Pete
So luxurious to have those portage trails in place for you - in Australia you would be dragging that boat through untouched woods!
Algonquin Park is very well used and kept. But much of the Northern canoe routes are pretty rough!
