This week I look back at 2023 before we look ahead to 2024!

(1:50) - I reveal how much I spent on UFC cards in 2023 as well as how much I made (include how much I made from TH-cam) and figure out if came out in the red or the green.
(8:25) - I show off some of the cards I picked up or pulled this year.
(21:30) - I go over my plan for 2024 to help my become a smarter collector. I also talk about where I see Joes Card Stache going forward.

I started collecting in 2023. It was a year of discovery of the hobby. I decided to invest in old topps cards. I will wait to see what they do in prices in 1 year. Probably not buying much in 2024.

I think we all forget that when you start it’s a big outlay, unless you then start to shift some of your PC it will always be expensive. I’m a big fan of your approach and would love 2024 to be a self funded hobby,🤞🏻 the values start to go up again!

Congrats on the money! anything in the green is always a win at the end of the day. The max from this year's select is definitely one of the better shots of him.
Also just want to say I totally feel ya on the video creation part. I want it to be enjoyable, so I only make them when I want and on the topics I want. The channels you mentioned do a great job of content creation already. I'm just here to share my collection + pulls if I open a box.

Really interesting video Joe, I think it's awesome that you came out on top with $300 extra in your pocket plus all the new awesome pc cards to go with it! That's definitley my goal also to have a self paid hobby! Going to be interesting in 2024 with Topps as you said, how they handle releases in pricing ect. I completely agree with your take on how the UFC card market has too many graded cards and not enough demand so that's why we see declining prices. Fun video mate

Congrats! I wish I could do this but being overseas grade and flip is not really an option and buying extra cards to sell alongside my PC cards ends up being an extra risk.
I know that some people can net even or profit while building their PC, but I know I would suck at it
22:50 prices are going down for Panini, Topps cards are still holding up

I’ve heard a lot of people say lately that this hobby has turned stressful and not fun. I’ve personally made a lot of changes in how I collect to put the fun back into it. I made a personal code that if I pull something great I will do something nice for a random collector. I try to balance out my Karma. Whatever you decide I’ll support you. I really loved this video and I learned a lot from it. I hope Topps will be a fun and stress free way to collect but we will see. Thanks for all the great videos this year! Happy New Years Everyone!!
Thanks for the comment Rick! I don’t think it’s surprising that people are getting a little burned out on the hobby. I feel like it’s been getting a little stale with Panini. Hopefully Topps will shake things up. I’m optimistic. I also think it’s good to self reflect and change things when you are getting frustrated with any hobby. I appreciate all your support this year! Cheers to a better 2024. Hope TOPPS gets going quick but probably going to be awhile before we get something new. I hit 5 1/1's in topps but just in 2018 so hopefully it goes well. 👊

Yeah.. breaks are the worst investment by far. I bought into one recently and ended up with one numbered ian machado garry card for $70.. The rest was not worth anything.
I completely agree. I try to stay away from breaks as much as I can.

@myktybekSuperfractor-rb2wr Haha. Well I am an old man so that makes sense. I just don’t think photons are the coolest designs. I understand they are rare but I try not to collect certain types of cards just because Panini made them short prints. I have to like the design. Just my opinion though.
The wax is probably killing your profit my dude. I know it's hella fun, but u could've done some major damage buying 3 or 4 grand worth of singles on auction..
I agree Rick but for me it’s important to open some wax. It’s a big reason why I do all this. I just am trying to find the right mix of wax vs singles. Thanks for the comment and happy new year!
