Easily my new favorite golf video on all of TH-cam the editing and filming was amazing.
Love to hear that man!
The greens were impossible.
And the music selections were impeccable for this video!
Any idea what the song was at the start? Wouldn’t mind downloading that one!
@@RyanButcher-ce3xu Whatever, Whatever by Peter Crosby. As soon as I heard the opening, I replayed it and used Shazam and immediately downloaded it. Great song!!
that caddie is so good! i love them being more incorporated in the video
Played 4 courses here for my 70th birthday. Pacific Grove, Pebble Beach, Spanish Bay and Spyglass.
It’s been 5 years and I’m still loving the experience.
Thanks to my Son John for the great memories.
What was your handicap (roughly) and what’d you shoot? Kudos to your son. Hell of a gift.
Played them all and Poppy Hills better than several of those IMO.
Amazing
you raised him well lol
Monterey area is beautiful on a level you can’t understand unless you experience it. I love living within 2 hours of Monterey.
I don't take joy from others hard times but it's kind of nice to see that a golfer as good as Grant can experience the same problems as us weekend warriors
the gap between scratch golfers and tour players is much bigger than the gap between a 18 handicap and a scratch golfer.
its not really the same tho. hes playing a course that is ridiculously hard, where yall are playing average course that aint that tuff. but i understand what you mean. just to see them struggle every once and a while is fun LOL
Can’t? You mean can?
79 is ridiculously good on a tough course you kidding? Some tours pros might shoot the same on a bad day
I agree, but at the same time it’s just amazing to see how Grant cope with his feelings. If that were me, I’ll had a total breakdown. Grant is THE king!!!
What an unreal golf course. Hope you enjoy!
As Californian all I can say is welcome to Spyglass! Your aggressive putting speed really made you pay a high price. I also have never seen you hit so many shots out yo the right.
I’ve never played there, but it looks beautiful in the video.
Those greens must hav been playing at a 13-14 the way you blew by putts!!! That’s a tough course
Absolutely stud! A real test of golf
Pretty amazing @@Scaramuzzagolf
Your intro's and theatrical quality is really taking a leap it feels like you have picked up a few things from RGC and i love it!
Underrated comment
Yes sir!
@@GrantHorvatGolfs❤😊
The cinematography is the best in golf youtube. The style of film/editing is perfect for a serious solo round golf from Grant.
This course will humble you really fast. I’m a 7 handicap and shot a 96 here.
do you think the greens are a bit too fast?
@@Logibox0494 I played early and the greens were a bit wet so a tad slower than a 13. I don’t remember it being all that fast. Definitely faster than a course like Harding Park, which has slow greens, but I frequently play Green Hills which has fast greens and lots of false fronts.
Yep, there are a few really hard holes. 1-3 are benign. 4 becomes harder and then it's like every second hole or so is hard. Don't remember my score, but I remember I parred or birdied 17, going to 18 with hopes of a decent score. 18 got me totally. Messed up around the green with multiple bunker visits and got something like a quad on the last. I was still so so happy after the round. Amazed by the course.
Yep same, I'm an 8 and shot a 98...you'll doubt everything you "thought" you were good at, once you get to hole 4 it hits you like a ton of bricks
Back in the 1990´s the 4th green was surrounded by ice plant. Ice plant is basically an unplayable lie. It slowed play so much they have removed it from all courses in the area. I was 5 over thru the first five holes and shot 78 one time. I don´t think there are any 5 holes more difficult than 1-5 at Spyglass. Have not played Pine Valley though.@@MarkSmithhhh
A caddie is worth every dollar at this place, beautiful course!
Thank you for doing this video. Spent 5 years as an Assistant golf pro at Spyglass and watching your video brought back many memories. Home Sweet Home. Don't feel bad, I was in many of the same situations that you were, I feel your pain. Back then the ice plant was much more lush and in play. The deer too. Be glad you didn't end up in that. LOL
I had Nick at Pebble today. World class caddie who knew every line, break, and number. Kept me under the hole and vibes high.
Grant, really enjoyed seeing Spyglass. You did brilliantly to maintain your composure throughout. A big takeaway! Many thanks
I’ve been lucky to play both Spyglass and Pebble and you’ve brought back a lot of good memories for me. Thanks Grant
Me too. Don't know about you, but I'd play Pebble 100 times before I'd play Spyglass again.
@@sirdaveowhy cuz Spyglass is so hard
Glad you enjoyed it
Welcome to California GH. Great videos my friend. If you ever get up to the Tahoe area, in the summer, play Coyote Moon. She’s a beautiful course.
@@moto4kcCalifornia is definitely full of beautiful cities and golf courses.
Your videos bring me so much peace. Thank you Grant!
Love to hear that
First became aware of Grant on Rick Shiels channel, thinking this guy can`t be this cool and genuine. But you`ve converted me young man, carry on the good work. Live the dream.
Grant is taking youtube golf to a new level right now
how lmao?
No cap
Who cares?!
What does this even mean?
Wtf
Absolutely great golf course. One of the best in the world. One of the most difficult courses I’ve very played
This is such an interesting and hard course. I played it on a cold, drizzly, windy day with no caddy. I felt like I was playing at the peak of my potential, but walked away around my average score (82). Can't wait for the opportunity to play it again.
Thanks. Spyglass is awesome. I played Poppy Hills, Pebble and Spyglass over a weekend 20 years ago. While Pebble is awesome I ❤LOVE❤ Spyglass. Even though it's 20 years ago I remember many shots and I have a vivid memory of the stunning views. It was a pleasure to return to Spyglass in this way and I can't wait to visit back.
Played them all as well and I’ll take Poppy Hills over Spyglass
Great video! I'm playing there & Pebble in Oct. 2025 so I'll be watching this a few more times to prepare. Thanks Grant!
Grant, the production work on these streams has been stellar! The quality of the drone shots in particular is just stunning. The golf is just the icing on the cake! 🙂
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your lady wife (and Tig and his wife, of course)!
Thanks matty
@@GrantHorvatGolfs Grant I took a misstep, someone is posing with your profile and scamming people on telegram
This has to be some of the best golf content on TH-cam right now, this and the pebble beach video were different class
Those greens were unbelievably fast. Crazy what the pros can do playing this hard courses
Was thinking the same. We only ever look at the top of the leader board. Now we can appreciate why tour pros end up 7+ over in the bottom half
Love the caddy mic! The little bits of advice are great to hear
My favorite course ever! Also love playing back to back Bayonet / Blackhorse.
I remember watching Courtney Lee play in high school here in Indiana. He went to Pike High School! Great ball player.
I was lucky to play there this past summer. Easily the toughest course I've ever played. If you're not striking the ball well, it will be a long day. I'm a 3 handicap and shot a 95. Until i started taking more club, every approach was short. Those greens are no joke. Never had so many 3 and 4 putts. Still one of the best days ever.
Thank you Grant for playing here. It brought back a lot of good memories.
This was seriously such a fun video to watch! Those greens were so unforgiving.
OMG...deja vu! I ended up in so many of the same spots off the tee, only not from the tips. So crazy how so many decent shots can put you in golf hell.
Can see You coming back here again and again to claw back those shots, and I'd watch it for sure. Thanks Grant.
Hey dude don't let the scorecard get in the way of having a great round of golf on a gorgeous course. I love watching you play. Have Fun!!
WAY to grind. I was lucky enough in the 90"s to play Pebble, Spyglass, Spanish Bay -- Poppy Hills was closed. Our caddie was Gavin the "G-man" and he was fantastic. I loved Spyglass but Pebble was one of those bucket list courses that I will never forget. Great video - Bethpage Black was my home H.S. course and I cannot wait for the Ryder cup there. Thanks for this.
I love the direction of which your videos are going at Grant. Just like the Pebble Beach video, it really is a cinematically pleasing piece that you can relax and enjoy to.
Just found this channel love it Grant great work to you and your team. Super positive golf vibes!!
@Granthorvatgolfs, the music, the images, the thoughts have reminded me to enjoy the time spent on the course instead of focusing on the shots...Thanks
Dude absolutely amazing video. Tough course but that must have been an amazing experience. You’re living the dream!
I was very impressed with his attitude and lack of profanity, especially with his difficult scores. But everything was explained when he thanked the Lord after coming so close on the par 3! Great to see guys like this on the tour!
Thanks @GrantHorvatgolfs ....courses are amazing. And Thanks for the work with 100 Hole Hike. Great Charity. Come everyone....let's chip in and do our part in donating.
Great video. Such a beautiful, challenging golf course. Can't wait to see what you shoot when you next play it now that you've have a better understanding of the holes.
Spyglass is a great course. Played it back in June for my 21st along with pebble and Spanish bay. Phenomenal courses.
Unbelievable course! Happy to see Grant keep the smile after every hole
Grant i felt the same way when i played out here. Its so tough to get used to these types of tracks. The ball just reacts so differently than what we are used to. You didnt hit a "bad" shot and still made a triple, then your flop on the next hole looks great and winds up 10 feet away. Such a tough track and easily a top 5 for me. I enjoyed this course over Pebble.
Gotta love grants positivity, I mean the dudes living the dream but still I respect is attitude every time he plays. Also that caddy was cool and he knew his stuff!
This is a textbook example of how hard courses like this are if you’re not playing from the fairways. In the circumstances +1 on the back 9 was very good. That triple was amazing and the result of just one bad chip through the green. Don’t think that is fair tbh but it made for good content.
Grant is great guy also he has that teaching gene from his father- just want to help anyone with their swings and is really great and enjoying it 😊
I laughed so hard when you mentioned it's a Grant Horvat Golf Video after hitting a hard lip out. Your content has been amazing. I personally love genuine reactions like that, keep it up man!!
Just started this video and I’m really digging the vibes.
Let’s goo
Played spyglass with Nick as our caddie and he was amazing!
who can't love grants personality and his game. The best on you tube, George Bryan is another great golfer and down to earth on you tube
Grant is for sure my favourite TH-cam golfer, just ahead of Pete Finch and I enjoy watching all their videos. However, sometimes as a mid handicapper, their skill level and ability is so beautiful to watch and aspirational, but at the same time, unrelatable. But this video makes me feel like he's really just one of us. He ground out that score, just like we all do. I could really feel his frustration. So instead of just watching an amazing golfer, with a silky swing, hit beautiful shots on great courses, the trials and tribulations he went through give this video, for me at least, a genuine level of engagement that I've not felt before.
Grant!! this video goes to show literally just how hard this game is..watching on hole 7- This game humbles you soo fast. if i get a case of the shanks- i have to mentally keep it together..(one of my biggest problems tbh)
Grant is so good lol, this is an off day and still hardly made a mistake, many were just things you would pick up on with playing the course a couple times
Spyglass is THE BOMB of Carmel courses!!! So glad you played this Grant!!! Love the vids!!!
I’m a local to Monterey and spyglass is definitely my favorite of the pebble beach co. Courses. I’m playing it on Christmas Eve I can’t wait!
Great to see you struggle once in a while. Real test, great performance.
Its amazing that you hace improved your content by doing solo videos. At moment, the best TH-cam golf content. Thanks
That is one tricky track. Great perseverance Grant!
Wow! To shoot par you must have a sweet soft long fairway-finder driver. Low irons that land on a table-top somewhere below the hole. You want the Hovland bean-bag irons that hit and stop. Any ball with high backspin might suck back 30yds.
I had the opportunity to play both Spy and Pebble back to back as well. I played them the opposite way though. They’re both amazing, depending on your skill level, pebble was just a lot of fun. Spy was a fun test of where your game is. I was playing the best golf of my life and I shot a 77 at spy and a 70 at pebble. There’s no forgiveness at Spyglass, you have to execute shots perfectly around there from tee to green.
That is for sure about Spyglass. Especially around and on the greens. It looks very unforgiving if you make the slightest mistake. But what a beautiful course
Absolute unreal video!! Huge shoutout to everyone in the background with the filming and editing !
Grant!! Awesome video my man. Jealous of your golf trip haha. I live in the Phoenix area and know what super nice golf courses look like/play like….but the group of courses in the Pebble Beach package are tops in the world. Maybe one day haha
You still broke 80 against the most unforgiving course I’ve seen on any TH-cam video. Impressive Grant 👏🏻
He didn't.
@@ComedyBREWHOUSEhow so?
@@adamjay6600 go watch #7 and count the shots

Interesting add of the old german national athem at 23:00 -- Great video Grant! Impressive stuff.
looks beautiful. thanks for the content.
I feel like we sometimes play better with our own brain and reads. Knowing the layout is great, but having someone tell you where to hit the putts can be really difficult on our psyche upon execution.
little surprised at the construction vehicles around on a few of the holes.
Wow, that course is merciless! Those greens and pin positions are real tough - great video as usual Grant 👊
Gorgeous course... #8 was a beast!
Great video! I feel you on this round.
You are playing basically my home courses right now. Spyglass can bare its teeth in a hurry. It’s fair but a nightmare at same time.
What a gem Spyglass is. Beautiful course
@@cleveland2022 poppy hills also amazing and of course Monterey peninsula as well. We are lucky in Northern California we have some stunning courses.
That sounds like my ex-gf. Beautiful on the outside but ugly on the inside.
Thing is, it's a very tough call in saying "course X is 4, 5, or 9 shots greater or fewer than course Y", because it can be EVERY shot that is tougher. Ergo, a 72 on X doesn't equate to a 76 on Y! Oh no no nooo! As we see here, almost every shot is tougher. Eg, 136 at Royal Cinque Ports, UK off the yellow, is not the same as 144 off the blacks. No sir.
I'd love to see Grant or DOD play RCP off the blacks, in Open qualifying setup...maybe in very windy (in the US, you may call it 'unplayable' conditions). It may pelt down with rain too btw. You may need to drill a driver just to be in range with a 3 wd...the weather may be favourable.
Have you watched Jeff Ogily's video round here?
I love Grant's videos. And he is a great person.
Really bounced back on the back 9. Always enjoy watching Grant play
So cool to watch this. I’ve “played” it virtually at Top Golf hundreds of times and I would love to play it irl.
Cheers saved my monday lunch hour. So pleased with your success! Golf Clap!
Great video, Grant! This channel is so great. Great to watch start to finish. You really turned your game around after the 9th hole. Thanks for sharing, great game. Looking forward to the next spyglass video.
Grant thanks for being such a good role model for us guys hacking it around our muni courses. It’s so easy to lose your composure or get frustrated. Next time I hit a bad shot or the breaks don’t go my way - I will definitely be remind of this content.
I just played Spyglass in July and it was quite a challenge! The greens are INSANE. I golfed a 102 and it honestly could have went worse. I rolled so many putts off the green
Grant you'll be dreaming about Spyglass, for sure it will have you back soon. Thanks for the videos, you have great content dude. You really make me feel like I'm one of your buddies on the course with you. Thank you for that. Please keep up the great work.
I definitely feel a Spyglass Hill revenge video is in order
42:40 there can not be a better example of a pured driver. That was a beautiful clip.
Love it. For Christmas I want the Teaches channel to go into overdrive
Hey Grant, been there, done that. 😂 Spyglass is beautiful, but tough. I like it better than Pebble. If you ever get a chance, play Poppy Hills. It’s my favorite course on the peninsula. I think you’d love it.
I play Spyglass quite a bit, and I've never seen the greens that fast. It looked brutal. Great work keeping calm!
Agreed. It made the course play really tough. Grant tends to be a pretty aggressive putter speed wise and it really cost him here.
Played Bethpage a few weeks ago. Not my first time. Wind was blowing, and it was brutal. Course is monster with perfect conditions. A fair monster. One mistake and it compounds and snowballs. Was feeling what Grant was saying the first few holes. These greens were ridiculous, though. Played a private club that was rolling like this video. Makes you overthink your approaches and putts when your full wedge rolls off the green or a putt you barely touched rolls on by.
Love the content grant! These videos are the best, I love the music in the background! Could you make a playlist😂 keep it up!!
SUCH a tough course! played there and pebble back in 2010 with my dad and uncle. shot 76 at pebble and slugged it out on spyglass for a 79 with a bird on the 18th lol! love your videos. keep doing your thing buddy!
I enjoy watching your vdo. On the top right corner that show hole number and distance, after tee offf shot, if you can add more information what the distance left and what iron you use, it would be much appreciated.
Great fight Grant. Prolly helped a lot having Nick on the bag, all time vibes guy!!!
Grant! Amazing video. Well done and good playing. I took my dad to do 5 rounds last year and this brought back some amazing memories. I had almost the exact same pin locations as you at Spyglass and had to laugh on a couple. Not at you but because I experienced the exact same thing. 9 green stands out to me so much as I had quite the downhill putt to that same front pin. Thanks for the video! Come to the Calgary Alberta area. Some insane mountain courses you gotta play. Banff Springs, Jasper Park Lodge, Stewart Creek, Silvertip and both 18’s at Kananaskis. I’d love to host ya.
man grant your positivity is amazing. i can’t say id stay in a good mental playing under my expectations at a place like this.
I feel your pain, that course is so hard and unforgiving. Thanks for showing it to us.
I think Tracey 3 photo apitamises parkland winter golf in the UK.
Great video again. I'm really enjoying your vision on the vlog.
Nice round. Looks like a very tuff course and tricky greens..Just think if you were golfing without a caddie???? Need a caluclater to add up the score..Fun rounds..Thanks...
You can even see the flag move on the 6th, that was so close. Keep it up Grant, this is some of the best golf content out there. Absolutely top-tier. And what a great course, it really put you to the test, and it makes the video even more entertaining to watch!
Incredibly beautiful yet brutal. What an education! Thanks Grant!
Played them both as well. Both different but equally awesome
Grant sounding like me out there, with all the "no way's", lol! Great content as usual! Keep it up!
Both great courses
I played Spyglass Hill the day they shut the course down due to weather for the first time in 80 years!! One of my favorite courses ever!!
#14 is one of my favorite Par 5s that I've ever played
79 from the back on your first time is a great score at spy! well done and great video!!
I just love how relaxed Grant stays, even when it's all going wrong. I think we can all take a lot from his calm demeanour.
That "WEEE" on the lip out was perfect 😂😂
Hi Grant, So glad you experienced Spyglass. It is a great track. Awesome video
