If you were uploaded this video 3 months before I would have been happy because I do not had suck a pain when I tried to clean my carb. You are the best ! Your videos are so useful, best dirt-bike channel !
@@dirtniron Hello, I have the '05 WR450F runs great but pops alot on decel. 170 Main and 48 pilot and already 3 turns out on air screw, not doing more, should I try a 50 pilot perhaps?
I only need 1 bike, maybe 2. If it would not be for the channel I would keep 2 stroke for trails and one 450 4 stroke for mx. or maybe just get one 350 4 stroke for everything.. thanks for support Alex!
You make everything look so simple! great video from a great teacher! is that why the bike was having trouble starting? it just needed a good carb clean?
I would have checked the AP timing and adjusted it while I had the carby off the bike...but I like to see it squirt anyway, even if it’s adjusted right
Hi your videos are so helfull. I d like you to make a video explaining the wiring of the speedometer of the wr 450 . I just got one rencently and it doesn t have the speedo original. I m lost with the cables.
Did you do something special to get your seat to sit flush against the frame? I got that acerbis gas tank too but theres a little gap between my seat and air box because the tank sits a little high. Did yours just go on flush?
I have a 2008 Yz250f I bought the bike in the summers day it ran great, in the fall I noticed bogging at high rpms and when I would open the throttle fast while idling it would die, I also have a lot of backfiring on deceleration. I opened the carb and it was clean and all the jets were clean, the accelerator pump diaphragm was in good shape. I got an adjustable fuel screw and when I went to install it the previous owner had the stock fuel screw at 3.5 turns out which makes me think I need a bigger jet. I read a document online and it said that colder conditions can cause the bike to not get enough fuel and you have to get a bigger jet. Also when I turn the choke on the bike runs great. I tried the trick to pull the hot start in and it should idle up but it did not do that. Any advice would be much appreciated
Thanks for the video, please next time do close ups of some of the work l, like that o ring and jets. I got the point but it would have been awesome to get the close up. Thanks again.
I think that I'd "deep six" that carb and put in a Lectron.....and live happily ever after. Just one old guy's opinion. I know those carbs work pretty OK but it has more parts than the Apollo spacecraft. Parts not in original never give you problems.....
it sounds like it could be lean, try to adjust fuel screw, or raise a needle a notch or even go bigger one size on pilot jet. my next video will be about fuel screw adjustment, I will post in couple days
My bike does not bog but it seems like its hesitating as try to go faster in every gear, it will jerk with bursts of speed..what could the problem be?...thinking about getting a jetting kit
could be too lean, try to adjust the fuel screw or maybe go one size bigger on the jet. if the hesitation is on the bottom then change pilot jet. You can also try to raise the needle one notch
@@dirtniron ok, just went through my carb & removed all of the jets & found that my idle jet was cracked. I'll replace it, use your advice & let you know asap. Thanks.
1:00 AM here, must go to sleep, I'll edit this comment later after watching the video ;) EDIT: Great video! detailed enough. How long it took you from the moment you first started recording the video until the "Stayed motivated" ending? :P So how do you select the needle position? Cute dog btw! :)
I was using JD jetting kit, so i followed their recommendations for altitude. It changes each 3000 feet. If I would be on 0-3000 I would leave the needle on 5th clip. I live in 4000ft elevation so I moved my needle lower to make it little leaner. if you raise the clip the needle drops lower, hence blocks more fuel and allows more air in the mixture.
I put my carburetor position on open I kicked it over and I heard a straw sound a slurping sound like from a straw. what is that. I never heard it before.
believe it or not I was doing the 4-stroke kick technique with the top dead center that you showed on one of your videos. When I noticed the weird sound. No I don't think so. I have to check on it once in awhile.. do you have any recommendations
Yes. I'll kick start again see what happens.. I had the carburetor on half open.. when I open the carburetor fully open it made that sound. The case had has never been removed
I am in need of help!!! I have a 1984 Honda XR 200 (4-stroke) and I constantly smokes but still runs and is rideable but every like 3 or 4 rides(2-4 hour long rides with breaks in between) I always have to put more oil in it(yes there is oil in it and it still smokes). I don’t know what part to buy to fix it to stop smoking, can you please help me out and thanks! @DirtNIorn
Great video man. Like the simplicity of how fix things on these bikes. Keep it up but maybe we could do with out the commercials. Not sure how much that helps you having them play during the videos but it is kinda annoying sometimes.
I️ understand about getting paid, but I️ live where internet is very limited so watching videos that have commercials really adds lots of time to view videos from people I️ like and then I️ lose them or have to stop watching them. It is not that big of a concern to most but just adds lots of minutes to my view pleasure when I️ have to wait for it to load.
I have a 2006 YZ250F is 145 hours considered a lot?. I’ve also haven’t adjusted the valves or anything like that just basic maintenance like oil and air filter. I don’t race just trails. What should I do to keep the bike running strong?
keep valves in specs, check the compression specially if you feel bike is loosing power and is too easy to kick over. It all depends how you ride and how well you maintain it. Keep periodic oil changes, oil filter changes and keep air filter clean, thats a must.
Dirt N Iron thanks. I know you recommend rotella but I heard it isn’t good for bikes on some forums. have you had any issues with it? Seems weird to put diesel oil in a high compress motor
diesel engines have very high compression ratio. compression is what ignites fuel in diesel engines. rotella is designed for high ratio engines, haven't had any issues so far

oh, too bad I was late. did you figure it out?
Yes, I figure it out, keep goin', you do a great job.
Well, you taught me something new! I've had my YFZ450 quad carb off (very similar) and i did not know there was a leak jet in the bottom of the bowl.
cool, I am glad the video is helping ;) thanks for the comment Chris!

Great vid. Thanks putting this together !
Cool dog and great video, I have one of JD kits on my 2004 rm250 and they work great.

Great Video! very detailed and organized!
thanks brother!
Bike looking good, good vid as usual
thanks Dan!
Every time I watch a carb video I fall more in love with EFI lol.
thats right ;)
You make everything look so simple! great video from a great teacher! is that why the bike was having trouble starting? it just needed a good carb clean?
cleaned the carburetor, cleaned the boot connecting carburetor to cylinder, new jets and needle and bike runs fine.thanks for the comment bro!
Dirt N Iron sweet man anytime
Spider on your floor😂 Thanks for sharing 🙂
Idle seems a little high but wow what a difference from when you bought it!
definitely needs some fine tuning, its was still very raw
Best vid out there great job
Thanks man, didn't expect that ;)
Great video
Where did you get the O rings for the accelerator pump?
Thanks man. It came with jd jetting kit
I would have checked the AP timing and adjusted it while I had the carby off the bike...but I like to see it squirt anyway, even if it’s adjusted right
Good tip! thanks Ronan

Hey great video. What year is that bike? Mine is an 03 yz250f

I need you to adjust my wr250 cant get it
Did you do something special to get your seat to sit flush against the frame? I got that acerbis gas tank too but theres a little gap between my seat and air box because the tank sits a little high. Did yours just go on flush?
no I didnt, it was like that when I got the bike
another cool vid man
thanks man
Little bug on floor at 9:18 is gettin in some track time.
Can you do a video of how to make rims black and not scratch off or fade? Also it would be a cool mod to give the bike a new look.
i can try, I think powder coating is the way to go
Don't wake up the baby or the wife while revving your bike!! :)
haha, you guys are so funny today ;)
she was actually upset bc I did wake her up
You don't have to remove carb to install pilot jet? I just got a YZ450 and it won't run off choke so I got a bigger jet for it.
try to loosen the clamps and twist the carb to get the access to the jets.. it can work
Sweet vid 🤙🤙
thanks !

it sounds like it could be lean, try to adjust fuel screw, or raise a needle a notch or even go bigger one size on pilot jet. my next video will be about fuel screw adjustment, I will post in couple days
Can you do a video on flywheel weights?
i need to get one first, I am considering it . thanks for suggestion
If I put an exhaust on my 2008 YZ 450 how do I know what size jet it will need?
follow the chart first and then see if you need to adjust it
Can I use 2003 yz450f fcr carburetor rebuild kit for 2003 wr450f fcr carburetor? Is it fit?
its the same carb, just make sure you have correct jet sizes
for wr250f 2005 with 45 pilot and 168 main jet i can not choose the correct iddle can you help me bro. Thanks
check my video on fuel screw adjustment.. it gives you the info to adjust the idle. do the search : dirt n iron wr450 fuel screw

Unleash_Beast check if you have adequate compression in the cylinder and check if the oil ring around the piston is shot
I think you need new top end
Rings could be bad, or it could be your valve seals.
