Loved this. Brought back many happy memories of wonderful holidays when the children were little. Beauty around every corner. We went down one of the slate mines, my son thought it was were he was going to have to go to work when he was older. You can imagine how stressed he got!
I’ve only recently came across your channel and I’m so glad I have found you! Your vlogs are magnificent. Lovely to watch your adventures and hints and tips along the way. :)

Hello from Ireland. We are hoping to head over to Wales in a few weeks time. We always enjoy your videos. My 12 yo son spent 2 months in hospital last year. Watching your videos and looking forward to getting back out in our camper kept us going. You reminded us that very soon we would be back on the road again, out and about, enjoying the simple pleasures the world has to offer. He's doing well now, life is getting back to normal. So thanks to you both.
Thank you for letting us know Ivan, that is such a heart warming comment. Hope your son makes a good recovery and you are soon back out in your camper enjoying life. Take care 🙂
As with every video, I enjoyed this one and I am so happy to see how your subscribers have grown! Congrats to you guys! Keep taking us all with you on these wonderful adventures.

Hi Ken and Carol, great video. Porthmadog looked a lovely place to visit. Liked the way you had the drone footage coming in from the sea showing all the colourful houses and landing smoothly near your van. Very skilled.
Yes need to keep the windows clean, although ours have always got dirty marks on them! We drove through Blaunea Ffestiniog but didn't stop unfortunately. Such beautiful scenery on these roads. Not been to Porthmadog so will have to put it on the list. 10,000 subscribers. Amazing. Well done. Girl after my own heart. I love ice cream lol.

Absolutely fabulous, thank you, we spent a wonderful two weeks in North Wales in 2019, stayed at Black Rock Sands caravan park near Criccieth. Thanks for all those tips Gaynor. We tried to get tickets for Bodnant Gardens but they were sold out when we were there. We will have to go back another time and see more 🙂
Hi Carol and Ken, look like that bridge was constructed during the Battle of Waterloo in 1815. Since its completion its had some strengthening works applied to them, I suppose for modern day vehicle loading. As a structural engineer, it's wonderful to see beautiful cast iron bridges are still being maintained. Really adds to the wonderful aesthetic of North Wales
That was so uplifting, you kept making me laugh! Those ice creams looked very yummy indeed. What a wonderful tour through such beautiful places. Thanks both. X
Great video, not sure about Betws but some great breakfast options for your next trip a bit further on : Lakeside in Tan y Grisiau, Spooners in Porthmadog, Jennys in Porthmadog, breaktimes in Porthmadog, iris cafe in Criccieth, tir y mor in Criccieth or Number 46 in Criccieth to name but a few!!
Love watching your adventures traveled Wales myself and lived there at Tywyn mid Wales between Barmouth and Aberdovey for over 10 years beautiful country try Tywyn lovely little place. Thank you for your efforts
Waterloo bridge was named after the sense of relief, when Napoleon was defeated in the battle of Waterloo. 👍🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴👍🏴🏴🏴🏴👍
I think the horns were going off due to the silver van being very dangerously perched virtually still on road you guys were at least tucked in a bit .....
Good to see the weather improved for you after leaving Anglesey. Enjoying your mix of scenery and informative highlights. Our favourite channel, never miss an episode. We love that part of Wales having stayed in Porthmadog many times when the kids were young. Well done on reaching 10k.
The Waterloo Bridge was named thus because it was built in the same year the battle was fought. Thomas Telford the engineer who built it, was most famous for his suspension bridge across the Menai Straights in the same concerted effort to improve the A5 road from London to Holyhead. All roadworks and improvements along the A5 came to a halt following the opening of the railways over the next 100 years and only restarted once they were decimated by Beeching in the 1960s.
What a lovely snippet of history. I had never made the connection of the railways killing road development at the time. I wonder where we would be if Beeching had not made those cuts? The cost if Rail travel today is one of many more recent crimes 👍
@@LifeistooshortCK We all blame Beeching who was only the technician, but it was a typical Tory slight of hand by Ernie Marples, the Minister of Transport who just happened to be COE of Marples Ridgway, a construction company which stood to make zillions from all the roads made necessary by closing around 30% of the country's railway lines. It was the biggest ripoff until the privatisation of the railways followed by the post office. It was a blatant "conflict of interest" but Marples was made a peer and later fled the country to avoid being taken to court for serious tax evasion. So yes, always follow the money! 😂
Lovely views and historical content as usual. Ken, your Welsh pronunciations are excellent. Ever thought of doing some of Carol's "on the go" food recipies, they look yummy?

We were in Betws-y-Coed last Saturday. Were dropping the motor home off for our son and his girlfriend to use after a week near Barmouth ourselves. They were booked in at the Riverside site and after we set things up for them, went to the cafe in the old train carriages opposite the railway station for a late lunch. The food was good, not over-priced and there was plenty of it. Staff were friendly too which is always a bonus. Lovely little town, wish we could've stayed but had to get home................

Thank you for this lovely vlog and visiting Betws- y -coed, it brought back so many happy memories of childhood holidays ( many years ago 🤭). Ive been hoping you would pass by there. Congrats on 10,000 subscribers ! You are both great to watch .
Phew! We covered a lot of ground there. Brilliant. My heart skipped a beat when I saw from the bridge leaving Betws that we were on our way to Dolwyddelan, and congratulations on your 'th' for the Welsh 'dd' sound. I love that place and the immediate area, so thank dronie for the great aspect of the castle with Moel Siabod looking magnificent in the background. I shall make a screenshot of that, if that's ok? Prince Charles painted the castle as one of a set of British Castles that appeared on commemorative postage stamps in the '80s. Love the rest of the route too. You could have given a little plug for the Llechwedd slate quarry/mine just before the drop into Blaenau. Well worth looking up and visiting. This is a clip that I shall be revisiting soon. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it Peter. OK to take a screenshot for your personal use 👍 Didn’t know that about the stamps, will have to look them up. We did visit the Llechwedd slate quarry on a previous trip and did the tour. It was very interesting 😀
Hi guys. Congrats on the 10k subscribers. Well deserved :-) Your Wales trip is bringing back wonderful memories of several holidays spent there over the years.
What a shame you didn’t go for a little stroll along the river and falls while you were in Betws-y-coed . It’s a gentle walk straight from the main road across the little bridge and wouldn’t have taken long at all . It would have been so peaceful too at that time of the morning . Lovely filming though. Safe travels x👍😊
I’m really impressed with the level of research you’ve undertaken to produce this episode. The connection with Waterloo and Betwys I believe is the first bridge was opened/build in the year of the battle. There is a big plaque on the river side of the bridge giving date and if i remember the is also a coat of arms.Great Video as always thanks for sharing your travels.
Ahoy Pirates! Congratulations on the very well-deserved 10k subscribers! Keep going, dear folks! Thanks for this cute and beautiful piece! Always enjoying your adventures! Hi guys, Another great little video. A very beautiful part of the country, enjoyed watching this. Me Mom was from Wales, Abergavaney” don’t think my spelling is correct, anyway you Continue to bring parts of the UK into my living room in Ca and I thank you for that. Looking forward to your next video. Stay safe and stay healthy Mik.🚗🚗🚘
Ok.. 1.. I am loving the geography of the recent content... really helps me understand why the Welsh were able to cause problems for the English during the early era of conflicts with the swords etc.. 2. yeah we also have an interesting time finding good food in the morning from something local instead of a McDonald's... due to Covid many places just are not as open as early as they used to... many have totally skipped the breakfast window all together.. in part due to the hard time just finding help... let alone consistent business
Thanks Chad. It must be very hard for the restaurants to keep after suffering the lockdowns. I think there must also be a lot of regulations set by the government that they have to abide by that makes it difficult to go back to how it was before.
Great job guys really enjoyed the mix of the video on this - some fantastic drone shots and clarity of composition / insight into your travels at a personal level / facts. Pissed squirrel classic lol. That Indian looked a great meal … albeit there seemed a lot of it lol - stay safe and superb 10k achievement on subs well deserved - we both said you are flying and smashing it out the park with quality and interest

Cracking series of vids guys, their bringing back some nice memories. I have a daughter who lives in Colwyn Bay so know the area. If I may ask,, the music that was playing just as you nearly hit the pigeon,, what was it please. BIG congrats for the 10,000,,,,,,,
The Welch countryside once again is just stunning, along with the towns and village's. It's such a shame about the parking, and the locals who give you a hard time for parking up. Ps are you guys still eating the ice cream 😂😂
The bridge was built by Thomas Telford in 1815 to commemorate the battle of Waterloo, if you walk in the field you can see the writing on the side of the bridge

Thanks Fergus, that’s very kind. Great place to spend family holidays, glad we could bring back some happy memories 😀
Brilliant as usual.. Smithy would be proud of that bhuna lol..
👍😁
Congratulations on your 10k well deserved hard work pays off. The drone footage was excellent loved the whole video .

Thanks Moira. We do enjoy a good curry 🙂👍
Congratulations on your 10k! Keep up with the interesting videos. We’re enjoying them all.
Thanks so much Chris. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍
Enjoyed that vlog. Think Graham was envious of Ken’s ice cream. Curry looked good too. Beautiful scenery. Well done getting to 10,000 👍E🧙♂️
Thanks Ellie and Graham. We can confirm the ice cream and curry were both very good indeed 👍🙂
Yes, that would have been a lovely walk. We only walked across the bridge 🙂
Thanks for the info. We thought there had to be a connection somewhere 🙂
Another beautiful video and amazing views❤️
Thanks for watching 🙂
Ahoy Pirates! Congratulations on the very well-deserved 10k subscribers! Keep going, dear folks! Thanks for this cute and beautiful piece! Always enjoying your adventures! It's been a while now since I subscribed and feels like knowing you two for a lifetime! Started with Ireland adventures, which I am re-watching from time to time! :) Bear hugs, Captain of the good old Blackthorne
Thank you very much Kata. We feel like we know you too from all your comments. Thanks for your continuing support. Take care 😀
Excellent Ken and Carol an area I’m really keen on visiting loving this latest series 👍😎
Thanks Ian. We definitely recommend it 🙂👍
Lovely. Our house was called Betwys y Coed.
How lovely 😀
Hi guys,
Another great little video. A very beautiful part of the country, enjoyed watching this.
Me Mom was from Wales, Abergavaney” don’t think my spelling is correct, anyway you
Continue to bring parts of the UK into my living room in Ca and I thank you for that.
Looking forward to your next video. Stay safe and stay healthy
Mik.🚗🚗🚘
Thanks Mik. Glad you are enjoying the videos.
Lovely video......
Loved the music.💜👍
Thanks John 🙂
Very nice place.
Thanks 🙂
Very enjoyable vlog 👍🍺😁
Cheers Matthew 🙂👍
Betws also has a bridge across the River Conwy. This one, made of cast iron, was built in 1815, the year of the Battle of Waterloo.
Thanks for the info Julie 👍🙂
Ok..
Hi guys them curries looked delicious
Hi Nigel. The curry was very good 👍 😋
Congrats on the 10,000 subs well deserved.
Thank you so much Anthony 😀
Great job guys really enjoyed the mix of the video on this - some fantastic drone shots and clarity of composition / insight into your travels at a personal level / facts. Pissed squirrel classic lol. That Indian looked a great meal … albeit there seemed a lot of it lol - stay safe and superb 10k achievement on subs well deserved - we both said you are flying and smashing it out the park with quality and interest
Thanks Stew and Jane, glad you are enjoying the content. That Indian meal was well within our appetite level 😂
Porthmadog is delightful…better and better videos. Thank you 😊
Thank you Michele. Glad you like them 🙂
Salted caramel my favourite Ken. Carol how do you stay so slim after breakfast baps and ice-creams? Great video again, beautiful views.
The ice creams were lunch 😊 Thanks Michelle 😀
Lovely vlog Ken x Carol “Pissed Squirrel” 😂😂 LOL Too many Guinness ehh x Your both struggle like me with those Welsh 🏴 name Tongue Twisters . I got told off a few times 🥲🥲🤭 👍 x SMALL Small ?? Well what a Whopaa Carol 😜🍦🍦x Very Tasty m mmm x ATB hugs Stephen 😘👍👊👊
Cheers Stephen. Still getting the Welsh names wrong but happy to be corrected 😁 Those ice creams were delicious and who could choose only one flavour 😂 Looking forward to your next adventure, take care 😀🚗🚐👍
The connection is the arched bridge was built in the same year as the battle of Waterloo .
Thanks for letting us know Ken. We thought there must be a connection somewhere 👍🙂
How nicely put the comment to the huuuuge ice cream of your wife. You're a real gentleman.:)
Its pronounced Bet-oos-uh-coy-d not Betsy co-ed but well done for trying haha! Looked fun!
☺️
Love your channel. As I live on Anglesey, Betws-y-Coed is not too far to visit on a day off. My great grandfather came from Garth Eryr, Betws-y-coed. I would be interested to know the size of your bed. I have a Fiat Doblo camper which is too small. Many thanks. Enjoy Wales
The bed is 101cm wide and 170cm long. Thanks for watching 🙂
@@LifeistooshortCK Thank you so much for taking the time to answer.
Cracking series of vids guys, their bringing back some nice memories. I have a daughter who lives in Colwyn Bay so know the area. If I may ask,, the music that was playing just as you nearly hit the pigeon,, what was it please. BIG congrats for the 10,000,,,,,,,
Thanks Roland. One of my favourite tracks that one. DuDa by Ian Post 👍
Another good un. Keep them coming, bet you have forgotten where you live by now! How many days out to date?? Andy.
Thanks Andrew. The North Wales trip was 24 nights in total.
The Welch countryside once again is just stunning, along with the towns and village's.
It's such a shame about the parking, and the locals who give you a hard time for parking up.
Ps are you guys still eating the ice cream 😂😂
They were rather large but delicious and we had no trouble eating the lot 😁
Had to google "giving me kittens" and what a laugh it gave me...
It’s a great phrase Winnie 😁
This is North Wales all over. Great scenery and woodland walks but customer service from locals deserves a kick up the backsides
The bridge was built by Thomas Telford in 1815 to commemorate the battle of Waterloo, if you walk in the field you can see the writing on the side of the bridge
Thanks for the info Julie. We didn’t know you could see writing on the side of the bridge 👍🙂
