Shane’s ability to just pick up his legs and put them wherever he wants to strike is so impressive, it looks effortless
Facts. He has excellent technique and is very balanced amd coordinated.

His placement of his front leg kicks gives him almost an unfair advantage.
Look at his stance, it's very upright. Close to a Thai stance. The more your knees are bent, the harder it is to pick up your leg quickly. Man's straight chillin, calm and relaxed
That high kick into a teep in the last seconds of the spar was amazing. Had to rewatch that a few times because I cannot comprehend how he had THAT much control over his legs

It’s crazy how good Gabriel is. I know he’s pro and world level, but when you see guys who are very good gym level instructors and fighters spar and he literally sees everything like Neo. Every punch, kick, feint and gap he sees it all. Really shows how good pros are.
Hé is not your average pro, and not your average world champ.
Hé is a phenom,very clever and physicaly gifted too
Being a Glory champ is no small feat. Beating guys like Adamchuk, Amrani and Sitmonchai is as high level as it gets.
Shane's defense is incredible. Very cool to see the differences in techniques between everybody involved!
His defense is very good!
It’s fun to see how peoples personality reflect in their fighting style. Shane seems very methodical and technical In his style, picking where he’s gonna attack. Icy mike is a bit more wild and unpredictable.

@@hard2hurt Yeah, that kinda surprised me. It started to make sense as to why he's so deliberate and methodical in his speech and coaching: he's good enough at fighting "mean" that it's only by his choice that he gives anyone else a shot. That kind of "the only one keeping my demon on a leash is me, so I teach like a preacher" energy.

he's probably the only one who has a very good and well known track record, being in Bellator, Glory, and even training in Thailand. Him and Jeff Chan are the only ones who fought in big promotions
If this becomes an annual thing, can't wait to see the whole gang back at it but hopefully this time Jeff Chan makes an appearance since he's in the US now haha
He is basically the opposite of shane. Shane is more methodical but jeff is more explosive.

Bro, after seeing that many kickboxing vids from Shane, I kinda forgot he did Taekwondo. Cuz the way he was picking up his front foot and placing a kick wherever was clean.

Jared's sparring is like the total opposite of what we see when he talks and stuff.
Like he is so quiet and doesnt move really much, when he is instructing his technique he is very careful.
Also was it coincidence that the smaller guys (you and kevin) are the brightiest (always happy and energetic) in sparring? Even seth alwaya had that serious face at times lol

Being a shorter guy myself, I truly sympathise with what Mike says about having to figure stuff out. Seing him spar helps a lot 🙏

Jared was like a machine with that Jab. Plus his moving around using those angles just as he talked about doing.
Sparring Gabriel was crazy, his ability to catch our kicks, made me less want to kick, which removes 2 weapons and range. Plus he was using Kevin Lee's tactic of making his opponent get up a bunch to assist and tire them out.
Wow Mike! You actually stopped yourself from doing any of your dirty boxing or cheating moves in these sessions! LOL

I broke my hand boxing a couple months ago and these videos always get me itching to get back to training lol. great to see a bunch of friends beat eachother up!

Beautiful sparring. Everyone there is a master of their craft and it was awesome to see you spar in multiple different styles. Definitely something that I am sure was a cool experience to go toe to toe with each of them

That constant change of angles and levels Jared does so effortlessly is really interesting. I need to try that. And I don’t get how he throws that long lead hook so effortlessly, it’s almost a jab how relaxed it is. I know this is light sparring, but I bet he could put some oumph to it if he decided so.
This is really cool what tou are doing, very few people could put their ego aside and show how getting their ass kicked, but this is very educational (as well as fun).
All respect to all these great martial artists but its very clear why Gabriel Varga is a high-level pro with 40+ fights including wins over Sitmonchai, Lerdsila etc

Loved that jumping turning sidekick from clinch vs Shane... and also Shane's roundhousekick to front kick combo. When I do that sort of thing it's typically front kick to roundhouse, but he made it work twice.

1. Huge contrast between Mike's more of freestyle kickboxing style to Shane's muay thai. Apparently Shane has done really good with his clinch sweeps and defense here whereas Mike is good in cutting off distance and go brawl in the inside along with his unorthodox moves here. Amazing spar.
2. Again Mike is a good brawler also in boxing and Jared, with limited space, has a hard time adjusting to mike's pressure and damn his jabs is so versatile he can jab in many different angles.
3. Mike vs Gab fight is understandable because he is shorter and he's lighter people should understand that a champion whose bigger, stronger, and taller than you will always make you a ragdoll in a kickboxing match.

As a boxer who never really mastered kicking (despite years of Kung Fu and muay Thai) I would have liked to see the boxing coach take on kickboxing - i.e. how well you can cope against good kickboxers using only your boxing as your skillset. An interesting video I think as well.
Sensei Seth has a video called what happens when you kick a boxer and it really shows how a skilled fighter even if it's in only one discipline will adapt and find their own solutions to the problem
this video was cool af; I'm always astounded watching Gabriel spar. However...that little moment where you hear "get off the wall! get off the wall!" and then just see the faceplant in the background was comedy gold.
It is wicked cool how Shane can just keep that teep firing and just how quick he is with it. And he's really good and accurate with those sweeps too.

After sparring with both, who is better, Wonderboy or Gabriel?
Hard question to answer. In a "real fight" probably wonderboy since he is an mma fighter and welterweight. Gabriel is a kickboxer (although he has done mma too, not a specialist though) and probably has better 'traditional' technique (tight guard, low kick kinda stuff)
speaking of things I want to see. where's the "Leg Muscles" guy? I literally came across your channel a few years back (and became a subscriber ever since) because of the video you made with him that featured that slanted oblique kick to the side on the knee...still makes me shiver imagining how much it would hurt getting hit with that lol.
And.... Sensei Seth. Had me actually laughing out loud! Very few channels do that!

Boxing gyms spar much harder
It's crazy how Gabrielle is just a tank. He seems completely unmovable and always, every second of the round, in position to hurt someone.
This has been a great series of videos. You guys look like you had a great time.
I said this over on Ed's channel too. You can tell Gabriel is a fighter first and a teacher second because there's a ruthlessness in him that you don't see in the other guys.
Jared's jab is the BUSINESS. That's really what I find jumps out when I spar my coach who is a high level boxer. Every style has a heavy cross and lots of people (regardless of style) have naturally big hooks/overhands, but a high level boxer's jab is so far past any other style's version in every respect -- volume, accuracy, and snap -- that it really changes the entire dynamic of the fight because the jab is ALWAYS coming.
I have an irrational love of the dragon tail sweep. I don't know why. Applause for attempting it.

Shane has good speed
The session with Shane reminds me of when I kickbox with my cousin who only does Muy Thai while I do MMA, so my stance and my style aren't perfectly efficient for kickboxing in the way his is. I always have to adjust my style back into a pure kickboxing/muy thai style otherwise he just keeps needling me with teeps and leg kicks.

In the Varga sparring, Icy Mike lands a few good uppercuts from in tight. This is a very under-used technique, I should use it more too.

Which way does your knee currently move? Yeah... that's the way it supposed to move. It's not supposed to move any other way.

if you dont have a ridiculous amount of muscle in the right spot, you have to be very careful of putting force laterally on your knees. typically its an issue with kicking, getting kicked, or falling.

i dont see why sparring with boxer stressed your friendship he was literally just touching you all the time, he did not hurt you (at least you are not supposed to) ONCE. The avarage sparring in an avarage gym is harder than this. If this is too much, i would say never train in a boxing gym, its too much for you.

Great sparring! One consolation you can take away Mike is that you got the better cardio exercise while your opponents seemed to have finished a particular mindful exercise of tai chi.

Boxers always seem to frustrate kickboxers because their hands are faster and more coordinated

To your deffence you are shortest guy there and while in fight you have to just get inside and use full power in sparing its much harder, your oponents can just throw long distance punches, thats why for example Tyson sparing seasons were real matches, just war , he had to go 100% to be able use his weapons. Literaly all your weapons as a shorter fighter are speed and power, you cannot realy snipe them out of reach.

You stand right at mutual range. Not even. You’re at a range for him to pick you apart and you can hardly reach him. Plus he used an extended guard so there’s close to no hope lol. Gotta be in and out brother. He also clenches you anytime you close the gap….just countering you with simple tall to short strategies. Super entertaining though love the content

Shane doesn’t even bounce to hide his telegraph and the way he uses his legs, like their almost not even there.
He’s kick my ass to mike! Watch in him fight is almost calming.
