Some mechanics Thab never figured out or at least didn't talk about: 1When Flipping, you can change the direction on each flip for bonus points (Backflip into front flip into 360 left being 3 unique tricks for more points) 2Also you can do grabs in the middle of flips for even more coins. 3The grabs also can reflect projectiles shot at you, so there's actually a pretty fun skill ceiling when playing with friends, as you can fairly consistently jump deflect projectiles which fires them backwards, so satisfying to deflect a parachute. The counter to this strategy in multiplayer is to fire two at your opponent, slightly staggered, as if you fire them fast, one after another, a single jump grab trick can deflect both if timed perfectly. 4You can some fire projectiles backwards and look backwards (I think bomb and tornado only? 5The different characters have different stats, speed trick and balance, just like the boards, Wendy, the character the beast picks was trick, meaning her jump is higher and turn better, but lower speed, which is why he got passed at the end a few times 6There are some special boards that you can unlock that do unique things, such as the star board which has maxed all stats (*Turning of trick board, speed of speed board) and a dragon board which has a permanent rocket. 7. The grind rails cannot be jumped onto, and are a bit finicky, you need to go straight on to them, hitting approximately center, and the only true shortcuts, they are a great time to shoot people with projectiles! 8.There is an expert mode, which has way better AI and is how you unlock special boards. Learning to grab deflect becomes a requirement for this mode! I am glad Thab liked this one as this was my person favorite niche game on the N64, not many people had heard of it, and the multiplayer replay ability for my group of friends rivaled smash 64 believe it or not!
Snowboard Kids 2 might be the most slept-on game in the whole N64 library. It's a fuller and deeper game than Mario Kart 64 (though probably not quite as polished). I think a lot of people remember the original Snowboard Kids, which is still a pretty good game, but the superior sequel is almost completely unknown.
SBK2 is such a banger. I used to chain-rent this thing from Blockbuster, managed to not have anyone delete my file for months until I got my own copy for Christmas (and then play it from scratch again). Parrying items is one of the sickest mechanics in any kart-ish racer. Up there with Diddy Kong Racing for me.
I don’t think people realize how big of an achievement it is to maintain your save file outta blockbuster. My dad returned all 9 of my level 100 Pokemon and I never got them back. All trained by hand. No candy and no glitches. My entire summer of work disappeared into the return slot and I never truly returned to Pokemon since 😂
I think you unlock the dog by beating the news paper mini game without missing any papers. You also unlock the penguin called coach by beating the trick game a certain way but I forget how.
I remember this game being SO AWESOME. Those battles at the ski lift were legendary. You could be dead last and then start the next lap in first. Such a good idea
I love Snowboard Kids 2. Gorgeous graphics for the N64, very unique and creative course ideas, great soundtrack (maybe not as good as SBK1, but we still have bangers)... one of the best racing games in a console full of them, and one of my all-time favorite games.
Oh man, just got to the end--if you were raging in the normal story mode I'd hate to see you playing NG+ where you're earning the special boards. The dinosaur and Damien fights in that are just rude.
You unlock Jack Frost in the DS snowboard kids game but... Well you'd have to play the DS game lol. It's okay, it's fun but there's no charm to it like the originals
Yessss I swear there were parts of this game that trolled you SO hard, it was frustrating. I really think my rage issues later in life from gaming stemmed from this one game.
I actually just went through and played every single us release for n64. I only played some of them for a few minutes, but I played them all enough to get what they were about. I love watching your channel, it gives me a chance to see more of the games I never finished.
Once you beat the game you can play on expert mode and every time you beat a track it unlocks a board. One of the boards is the "dragon" board which has a rocket booster
I wish more racing games had boss fights in them, I remember how fun it used to be playing Need For Speed Most Wanted(the good one on PS2 not the shitty recent one) and having Cross come after you, I don't think you really ever had to take him down but him and the cops in general coming after you was always such a nice change of pace over just racing and that's it.
I know it's no longer really *necessary* for games to include any context via instruction manuals, but I can't help but miss the days when companies still put some time and effort into making a quality companion booklet.
You can unlock Damian and the penguin coach in this game. Also, if you run through all of the stages again post first run through, you can get special boards that have higher stats and the difficulty is raised as well.
Hot take: Snowboard Kids 2 is a better kart racer than Mario Kart 64 I especially love the chairlift mechanic from a game design perspective. It can create some super intense moments in the 2nd lap especially, you sometimes find yourself selling out to get in the first seat, as if it was the actual finish line. Creating tension in the first two laps is definitely something Mario Kart and other kart racers struggle with and this game rewards staying in 1st place in a really unique way.
I love the idea of collecting coins to be able to get items. It could add a strategic element in games like Mario Kart where you could have currency in slightly off centered area and you have the decision between items or faster time.
Trust me, bro, not living at home with your parents isn't what it's cracked up to be. You only have so much time in life to spend with your parents, so you should take as much of that time as you possibly can because when they're gone, there's no going back from that.
I think it's a tub and not a pie dish but yeah that's just as iconic as being hit with an anvil in Japan. Although presumably less painful, which makes sense since it originated in live action and on stage instead of cartoons
If he struggled this hard with normal Ice Land, good luck with all the races on Expert! Why not try different characters/boards? Balance and trick boards have completely different stats and make it waaaaaaaaaay easier to turn! Other characters also have different stats.
Yo @Thabeast721 I've been giving shout outs for your channel on different gaming channels that had to do with N64 games. Your challenge to beat every game on this console is awesome and I will be watching every video til you get there. Keep on grinding beast
Aww bummer. You missed out on all the special boards for playing through the game after the first playthrough. So many awesome boards! I loved this game as a kid
You missed out on if you replay the game, they add in special boards, and a more difficult version of the boss battles. Coach is also an unlockable character (the penguin)
I am beating every N64 game - and I do mean all of them. The twist is I'm on a bus and if it goes less than 50 miles per hour it explodes, this is the journey to beating every N64 game.
Aw sadness, didn't do the reraces on each course for the special boards. I get it though. That'd be 100% and this isn't necessarily 100% completion for these. Love this game!

I went into the comments to say a bunch of things… this guy said them all. I always found collecting everything in the game to be a ton of fun
It was an absolute blast
Great writeup. I had no idea this game had such deep gameplay.
This game is very frustrating trying to hundred percent complete. But it is a great game.

@@kc_jones_gaminggood, he did you a favor
This game is max nostalgia for me. The room level and castle level are so cool. My mom loved to play too 😂
I'm getting married later today. Still starting my friday with Thab's new video. It's tradition at this point.
Congrats bro!
Good priorities
Wow, congratulations! 🍾🎉
Congrats bro
Congratulations. Enjoy it as soon as it starts. Try to memorize everything as good as you can. And eat and drink well!
Had this game as a kid (only rented the original). Such a unique series; they NEED to bring it to NSO!
I think you unlock the dog by beating the news paper mini game without missing any papers. You also unlock the penguin called coach by beating the trick game a certain way but I forget how.
Yeah it's all on ign if you search snowboard kids ign cheats. There's also a code that unlocks everything
I remember this game being SO AWESOME. Those battles at the ski lift were legendary. You could be dead last and then start the next lap in first. Such a good idea
I'm excited to see just how disappointed 2023 Thab was when he found out this was NOT Sumo Wrestling.
I love Snowboard Kids 2. Gorgeous graphics for the N64, very unique and creative course ideas, great soundtrack (maybe not as good as SBK1, but we still have bangers)... one of the best racing games in a console full of them, and one of my all-time favorite games.
this was legit one of the best multiplayer games on the n64, a console chock full of fun multiplayer experiences.
5:54 your commentary makes this part so much funnier lol
One of my childhood classics! I watched some of the older kids playing this at my day care center and it was part of why I wanted an N64.
Oh man, just got to the end--if you were raging in the normal story mode I'd hate to see you playing NG+ where you're earning the special boards. The dinosaur and Damien fights in that are just rude.
You're daycare had N64 ? We weren't even allowed to bring our own Gameboy ...
A new Snow Board Kids from Atlus would be cool. You could have Jack Frost as an unlock :D
You unlock Jack Frost in the DS snowboard kids game but... Well you'd have to play the DS game lol. It's okay, it's fun but there's no charm to it like the originals
I'm still wondering to this day why Atlus can't do this. A remake of 1 and 2 would be amazing but who knows if racdym is still around
I have been waiting for this since decades, literally....but SBK: Snowboard Kids is not the stuff I wanted.....
Yessss I swear there were parts of this game that trolled you SO hard, it was frustrating.
I really think my rage issues later in life from gaming stemmed from this one game.
I am liking EVERY thab video.. and I mean ALL of them.. but there's a catch
You don't know which one you're going to like next!

Oh yeah I remember that!
I’m so glad this series is still running even through the slogs I watch them intently. Just thanks for keeping my mental health in check.
getting hit by those 3 pans at the end had me rolling 😂😂
Of of the best and most underrated games on the system.
Ive been waiting soo long for this one! This game was my absolute childhood

Lol
Should of called him Otto and call Jam, Tito lol
The obscure lore from the manual was a nice touch 👌
20:59 No, you're awesome!
Don't tell him what to be - he needs to discover this himself
Another good one, I look forward to these every week!
I love how creative the levels were in this game
One of my favorites as a kid. Unlocking the Feather snowboard was the best part, as you can just say goodbye to the ground when using it.
One day Chameleon Twist 2.... one day
I wish more racing games had boss fights in them, I remember how fun it used to be playing Need For Speed Most Wanted(the good one on PS2 not the shitty recent one) and having Cross come after you, I don't think you really ever had to take him down but him and the cops in general coming after you was always such a nice change of pace over just racing and that's it.

Almost halfway! Unbelievable commitment and tenacity from this man
I loved this game as a kid. Certainly an underrated one in my opinion.
Seizure trigger warning @0:38
Never been so early to a Thabeast video and my spirit leaped

Wholesome content bro!
I don't know how I've never heard of this one. What a creative and fun title!
I can't believe you got hit by three pans in a row right at the finish line. 😆 Absolutely rigged!
Hot take: Snowboard Kids 2 is a better kart racer than Mario Kart 64

Huh! I didn't know there's a Snowboard Kids 2! Ski-lift laps leading to ski-lift battles sounds like a cool gameplay gimmick for a snowboarding game.
Best coverage of N64 games on TH-cam

This was a memorable game rental from the local rental store for me. So many frustrating pie tins to the face. 😂
Definitely one of my favorite games. It was fun to watch you discover fun things about this game. It would be neat to see you beat it on expert.
Jesus christ, the flashing on that explosion effect is ridiculous
that's giving me a headache from seeing two microseconds of it

Relatable.
I kept seeing these in game magazines, but sadly I never got to play them at the time. Nice informative video.
Snowboard kids 1 was part of my childhood.
I remember I never played the first one because I couldn’t find it anywhere. Me and my sister played this one a lot and we loved it.
I think it's a tub and not a pie dish but yeah that's just as iconic as being hit with an anvil in Japan. Although presumably less painful, which makes sense since it originated in live action and on stage instead of cartoons
I loved the Air Bud reference. 17:40
I love how that power ranger game's legacy will be the Awesome! screen at the end haha
Highlight to my Fridays
This is another game I rented multiple times and really enjoyed. This and 1080* I played quite a bit.
If he struggled this hard with normal Ice Land, good luck with all the races on Expert!

Snowboard Kids 1 and 2 had a lot of charm. 😁
I owned this game back in 99. I kinda regret selling it back then. When i see how rare this game is now.
Lol I just finished all of the current list and then this popped up. Perfect timing!!!
It's a good thing her piano is purely decorative.
Also the flash speed on those bombs in the cutscenes concerns me a little :P

I want a new snowboard kids. I loved the music and they were just crazy fun.
You missed out on if you replay the game, they add in special boards, and a more difficult version of the boss battles. Coach is also an unlockable character (the penguin)
I know there's a lot of Japanese games, but lately it seems like almost back to back to back fighting to try to not get a Japanese game lol
