This is just one of those games that sticks with you.. so much nostalgia and so glad somebody created a video like this for it. The music is probably my favourite bit, and always loved the night scenes
Same the soundtracks for these two 64 games are memorable my favourites songs are grass valley and that space station theme from the second game. I also really like the characters are exaggerated with big noses. Plus gameplay is addictive

Very memorable soundtracks for both games agreed. I honestly find the character designs for characters appealing and Shinobin is a pretty cool secret character even with that breadstick nose
They have recently released the official music of the snowboard kids online for its 25 anniversary last year. Atlas even mentioned it on their official twitter accounts. All three games got their music released Snowboard Kids, Snowboard Kids Plus and Snowboard Kids 2. And yes they skipped Snowboard Kids 3 cause they know that game killed off the franchise, so that’s why that isn’t getting its crappy music rereleased online. So it’s interesting and makes me hope for a rerelease or remakes of the first three games from 1, plus, to 2. :3
Really cool to see them at least acknowledge it! We can only hope for more, or at least some modern ways to play it.
@@RealityEscape Switch N64 would be fun but honestly remakes would be better and given Atlas is own by Sega maybe they can revive this series someday

I wish they could make a new game that mixes everything from all the games, with all the characters being playable but retaining the classic design (including the DS ones which are being redesigned), all the boards, and all the tracks being remade (yes, even the DS ones) with the special challenges, and also making new tracks and new racers joining the party, with a new original story that compacts some elements of the games stories and so on and so for...
Snowboard kids was one of my favorite games growing up. I still have working cartridge, but none of my memory packs will save the game, so I have to restart any time I play it. I didn't even realize the game had a sequel until I was looking up the soundtrack a while back. I'll never be able to forget the music.

When I saw Atlas pop up in the nintendo direct mini yesterday I actually hoped for a new snowboard kids. SMT and Persona are cool, but I want some good couch multiplayer and it would just be perfect for my switch.

Considering Altus seems uninterested in advancing this franchise anytime soon, how about the idea of a passionate indie game development team creating a spiritual successor? Imagine a project that aims to recapture the nostalgic essence of the originals while introducing fresh characters, maps, music, and quality of life improvements. Of course, they'd need to maintain the iconic art styles and endearing chibi-esque designs with oversized noses that we all love.
What are your thoughts on such a idea?🤔

A year and a half ago I bought an N64 with a handful of games. This was one of them, I played it for a bit and got bored. I will need to give it another chance for sure. Thanks for putting this back on my radar.
Thank you for your video, I am joyous to see more people discuss this amazing game. I remember playing with my cousins (and fighting over who can be Slash or Jam). I hope to find a copy of 1 and 2, perhaps the Snobow Kids Plus on Playstation also. Reminiscing on this title made me record and share my gameplay so that more players can find Snowboard Kids.
The music for the horror land intro used to legit terrify me as a kid.
The fact you called them “clown stores” is hilarious to me! Because for the longest time I thought they were, too. If you look closely, they are actually Mr. Dog Stores lol. You probably have figured that out by now.
The only reason I messed it up is because I'm actually a super mega pro at the game and have never hit one ever so I've never bothered to look 😎

I remember buying Snowboard Kids 2 one really hot day at a flea market. So hot the cart melted in on itself. Surprisingly it works fine though

Honestly, SBK2 is the best race game from Nintendo 64, is real hidden gem from Nintendo 64. I played SBK, SBK 2 and SBK DS also.
I love elements no natural like Snowboard on space or jungle, If theses games were a simulator, it wouldn't so cool and it would be boring.
I don't played yet today one game with desing balance of items like SBK2, that's really amazing! Even Mario Kart has problem with itens and balance of gameplay.

Did you see the people doing Snowboard Kids "Reviving a Cult Classic Fan Concept "project? They're designing the characters in a more coherent way than the official SBK3 for the DS.
Have sbk 1&2, spent so many hours I eventually ended up beating sbk2 on expert mode around age 13 . Still have the save file on my N64. Cannot wait til they realize the Nintendo switch is the perfect console for snowboard kids 3.

I’d be lying if didn’t say SBK 1&2 weren’t my favorite multiplayer games on the console. The N64 has a lot of great multiplayer games so that’s saying a lot. Even playing against the rubberband/OP AI is still fun as hell to this day. Oh then there’s the OST’s.
I have very fond memories of the first two games from my childhood. It's the shame people are charging close to $100 for used copies of this game now cuz I'd love to play them again...
I remember playing this all the time when I was little. Somehow I accidentally got the Japanese version of it at a game store so I had to memorize all the screens. So many wonderful memories of playing this with my Mom and my Friends. Some of the best music on the N64.
That was a great game someone should tell Nintendo to bring this back

HOLY SHIT. I’ve played this game for my entire life and just never noticed that shortcut in night highway.
In case you’re wondering, the story of SBK Plus goes like this: Nicole Couch, daughter of the Couch Inc. CEO and Linda’s rival, holds a snowboarding competition to prove Couch Inc’s superiority to Maltinie Corp. Slash and Jam join to redeem themselves after losing to Linda in the first game. (Yes this is a sequel story-wise to the original N64 game) Slash makes Tommy join and Tommy just goes with it (Gotta love the guy) Nancy joins out of obligation, Pamela, Nancy’s friend and child actress, joins to get a front-row seat of the drama between Nicole and Linda, and Ruby Green joins for the cash prize.
It’s honestly a shame this series never got modern console releases since the two N64 entries are underrated classics and are way better than the DS entry.
First I was happy to see someone mentionning this serie from this obscure DS game I had and loved younger, but then a bit sad to learn that I'm apparently the only one who loved it. I've played way too much on this game when I was a kid. But I agree that the 2nd game looks funnier !
If you liked it, then it doesn't matter what I think! as long as you had fun! I'll admit a part of my and others dislike probably comes from lack of familiarity with it considering it's so different from what we grew up with. Perhaps playing it on our own would have made us appreciate it a lot more!

It was the first Atlus published game I first discovered and it was one of those early steps into niche Japanese games.

Ive played Sbk since I was 5. That was 20 years ago... Tbh. Ive never seen a clip of someone as good as myself. Cant wait to find someone irl who plays this too just to slap them like I do the computers ;) you can reflect a reflect or backwards bomb btw. Had a rally with an expert tommy for about 6 reflections. Shit was insane

I feel the Mario Kart comparison is because the game feels more like a kart racer rather then a snowboarding game. Especially with the kart racer items and the coins like the SNES Mario Kart. (And they could be compared to the fruit in CTR as well)
That said, I think Snowboard Kids is better as well.
Neither cartridge works anymore? Just get a pencil eraser and some IPA, clean the pins off and you're usually good to go.
I believe it's a problem with the battery inside the cartridge. I can load and turn on the game but can't get past the menu. Might be worth a shot though, although right now they're in storage. If i ever find them, I'll give it a go!
@@RealityEscape Yeah, battery replacement is usually not that tough either, only issue is maybe if the battery blew up and corroded everything with battery acid, would have to be in pretty bad shape for that to happen usually.
I usually just play on emulators myself, but I always hate to see cartridges go to waste, especially if they are decent games.
I hate to break your bubble but those "stores" on the track are not clowns. It's the dog from the board shop. 😅

Snowboard Kids 2 is my FAVORITE racing game of all time, I’m was the BEST at it and thank you so much for making this video! I got emotional remembering this gem and glad to see there’s others out there who enjoyed the game!

There's at least one good thing in SBK DS -- you can play as Jack Frost from Shin Megami Tensei, because Atlus published the series.

I noticed you didn’t go over the blue sparkle tricks on sbk1? Did you not ever learn how to do them? These tricks were a big deal when I was a kid and payed out a lot more money than just doing a board grab or a gold spark trick. Did you not wonder why the characters were even ranked on trick level…
I love all 4 games, yes the DS is kinda trashy but we all need to have the least favorite child, Ive spent so many years of my life playing this game. Just Hope somedayee get another sequel
My friend who was a Tomboy always would play Jam so I used to think Jam was a girl.
for me it was way funner than mario kart. the sound track was fantastic. way better than mario kart 64 sound track. i liked the story more and game play. the boss battles were pretty awesome too.
