    I love green tea too but I’ve found it started to make me go jittery too since I cut out other caffeines... but try ginseng matcha green tea.. the ginseng gets rid of the jitters and keeps you calm :)

    These are all the same things I try to avoid since switching to wfpb. I've always avoided caffeine because I have anxiety and the caffeine makes it worse. I used to cook everything in cast iron with animal fats so when I switched over I invested in a good quality non stick pan and use water or no salt added veggie broth for "frying" veggies now.

    I never added salt in my foods and every year I was super low on sodium in my blood work where doctors were concerned. So I added the pink himalayan salt regularly to foods at dinner on my brown rice and I don't like to taste salt on my foods. I want to taste the food not the salt. Very informative video.

      Hello again 😊😊😊 I ve a question. I don t use salt . but I have difficulty in chewing salad if I don t add salt and my jaw and teeth are aching so much.. Why it happens so 😯😯😯 😟😟😟

    • @EatMoveRest
      @EatMoveRest  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You may just need to give your jaw muscles time to strengthen! You can massage mashed avocado and lemon into your salad to soften it and give it more flavor without needing salt! Also, try looking into Nori flakes or other sea vegetable flakes which are high in naturally occurring sodium and minerals!

    What do you guys think about bread? I go to whole foods where they make fresh multigrain bread and whole wheat bread. Im not gluten free but have found that from time to time i like having bread for a sandwich . Also my favorite food at the moment would have to be cara cara oranges. They are in season right now and are packed with vitamin c!

    • @EatMoveRest

      Start with a healthy plant based breakfast each day, like oatmeal or a smoothie or fresh fruit! Get breakfast figured out, then add lunch, and finally dinner! Or else try eliminating just one animal product at a time-meat, dairy, or eggs. Crowd out the bad with more of the good-colorful fruits and veggies!

    I need to lose a significant amount of weight and I believe that whole food plant based is the way to go. I was really confused between a keto diet a plant based diet and which would help me lose weight. I was scared to consume the carbs from brown rice, and oats and beans. This confusion has caused me to yo-yo diet, and as a result my blood glucose went up and I'm border line diabetic. I need to lose weight and get this blood glucose under control. I go back for another blood test in 4 months!

    I ostensibly agree with your list, although, salt isn't really a food. Then again, I don't consider refined sugars and oils to be foods either. One gets all the sodium one needs from their food, and if you can tolerate it, gluten from whole grains are incredibly healthy as is green tea. A whole foods vegan diet is an excellent dietary pattern for health and longevity.

      Hi! Yes we eat both but mostly almond butter because it’s better for you! Any excess fat will most likely make you gain weight more rapidly because it is more calorie dense than carbs or protein, that being said, we do need healthy fat in our diet! I try to stick around 15-20% fat!

    • @EatMoveRest
      @EatMoveRest  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I would say use in moderation, but they're definitely great upgrades! I know a lot of vegan protein powders contain stevia...it seems like it's almost too sweet-tasting sometimes! My preferred sweetener for sweet treats/recipes is dates or if my smoothie needs something extra then dates or coconut water! Hope this helps!

      @@ceciliaramoscastillo2809 good fats are naturally present in fruit, veg, greens, seeds, nuts, especially chia and flax seed are great sources for increasing your omega 6:3 ratio (3:1 or even 2:1 would be optimal). I add a 1 Tbsp of both (soaked in water) to my green smoothie every morning :)

    You guys are great. I just discovered you. Can I get your take on intermittent fasting. Is it necessary on a vegan diet? Just curious. I am hoping you will say it is not necessary for good health, because I hate doing it. lol

    • @EatMoveRest
      @EatMoveRest  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We typically just look at it like this...eat an early dinner so food has time to digest for optimal sleep, and then start your day with about 32oz of water before eating! We try to do dinner by 8 and breakfast by 9, so about 13hrs “fasting.”

    The fat you eat is not the fat you wear.... That saying is getting super old. I know you probably are just referring to refined fats as being the fat your wear, but whole plant fats are extremely necessary for our bodies to function properly.

    • @EatMoveRest
      @EatMoveRest  7 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      I do mention the importance of healthy, whole, plant fats (I love avocado and eat it daily!) and absolutely advocate to eat nuts, seeds, avocado, olives, etc! They are so essential...but in the form of oil, our bodies can become burdened and it most definitely can cause weight gain and clog arteries! ;)

    • @taylorfarano2609
      @taylorfarano2609 7 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      i totally agree and understand with where you are coming from! People generally miss understand the whole "the fat you eat is the fat you wear" statement when watching videos like these(especially teenage girls). I just feel like this particular statement can make people really fearful of healthy fats when they shouldn't be!

      dreamdoll1988 Fruit sugars shouldn't harm your teeth, just make sure your brushing and flossing 2x a day and also try washing down your meals with a few swishes of water! 👌 I'm a fruit-nut too, but haven't had a cavity since going plant-based! You could also look into oil-pulling! We do it daily!

      @EatMoveRest  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Rather than looking at all fat in oils as "bad," look at fats in whole foods as Better! It's a slippery slope with oils, just like it is with refined sugar, both of which are absolutely non-essential to the diet! Hope this clarifies! 😊👍🏻

      gotcha, what are your thoughts on maple syrup and molasses, the same as oils or?

    • @EatMoveRest
      @EatMoveRest  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      My preferred sweetener is dates if I can get them to work in a recipe. That being said, sweeteners like maple syrup, used in moderation are fantastic upgrades from the alternatives out there! Again not necessary in the diet!👍🏻
