I live and work in Prescott (prounounced Preskitt like a biscuit). I have met some wonderful people from California, and I have met some snooty, non neighborly people. If you are going to relocate, learn the way the locals are and not impose upon us your way of life. BE NICE!!! That being said, Arizona Dreamz, if you would of stayed on 69 you would have seen a whole different side of Prescott. After you passed the Walmart on 69 you would have crested a hill where you can see Granite Mountain, Thumb Butte, and Buckys Casino which is lit up at night. I hope you were able to explore with your family as it is very picturesque. Great video.

Im a friendly conservative from CA and was looking at Prescott! Are there anything someone should be aware of before relocating? Just wanting a beautiful, friendly, conservative, not too pricy compared to CA town. If you are able to answer that would be wonderful! 🤗

Great video! I'm glad you pointed out how the cost of homes doesn't match their true market value, especially for the income in the area, or job availability. Austerity... and Real Estate Greed. It's a setup for failure. You cannot have homes those prices if people aren't making enough to afford them. Right now it's like a grab bag where Real Estate agents are trying to take as much as they can before the housing bubble bursts again. Not to mention, it destroys "communities" when the people who live in the region (or people native to the region) can't afford the homes in their own hometown, only outsiders can afford them.

We have a large homeless population in Prescott Arizona...there isn't a lot of high paying jobs here... we have no industry to say social service jobs minimum wage and little bit above... there was rumor that they're building low-income housing here all the houses are quarter million dollars...this year we got over 3 feet of snow in one winter storm...the streets are crowded on the weekends primarily, really crowded visitors coming from all over the state and the country...if you come here to do some summer camping call three to four months a head... everybody wants to come here to tent camp in the national forest around Prescott...the lakes are all polluted they are off limits to swimming of any type... water table is very low here... we have been in the drought for about 15 years...With the increase of Californians moving here are water reservoirs are low at all times.

Thanks for your reply :) I applied for positions at a few hospitals in Chandler, Gilbert, Scottsdale and got an email back from (HonorHealth) Deer Valley Medical Center. Couldn't find much info on Deer Valley other than their wiki page. Do you know anything about that neighborhood? Or where I could live with a reasonable commute?

    • @LivinOurDreamz
      @LivinOurDreamz  6 ปีที่แล้ว

Not too familiar with Deer Valley but Anthem, Peoria, Glendale, Cave Creek or north PHX. It’s the 101 & I-17 freeways and I also believe there are some decent condos within a couple blocks of honor health.

Prescott Native born and raised.. thank you for pronouncing the City, PreSkITT and not PreSCOTT.
And that big building by the Ranch off Lee Blvd is a Retirement "Community".
And fyi we dont have any "clubs" on whiskey row. We have Bars. It's the Old West.
Everywhere in Prescott you will go up hill. So houses onto of hills are very common. Everywhere in Prescott has a view.
And you really didnt even go into Prescott. It's mostly N. Prescott. Dont confuse that with downtown. They are completely different. Prescott is so diverse. Downtown is much more vibrant. Prescott is a "tourist town with a drinking problem".

I went to college there in 76 and stayed for 26 years designing over 500 custom homes and business in Prescott alone. Lindsey is correct. The tour didn't even go into Prescott. There are pine trees galore and the tour didn't show a one. But after Money Magazine in 1983 said it was the best small town in the country, has had too many people move in and pretty much ruin the small town atmosphere. It was great while it lasted. Still a great place, just more traffic to deal with.

  • @LareesieAlice

Very close together (assuming small yards, as well), like where I am at, southern ca. It's nice, but I'm honestly tired of that type of living. Pay more money, for less. The trade-off being a nice area and weather, for condominium-style living. Like California, it takes a lot of money to have a sense of privacy.

On the stats, I'd say crime is better than a C-, I'd put it like at a B+. There is pretty crime, but violent crime is rare. Prescott Valley though is having more crime issues, I'd put them at a C (I lived in the area between for about five years). The pricing issues with housing is because a lot of people are cashing out of California and buying houses which is really pushing up demand, unfortunately pushing a lot of younger locals out. Overall if you are older I think this is a nice area to live. Younger people unless you are connected and land a decent job in government or education (Embry Riddle) you might struggle. Weather is great, and it is pretty easy to land a place to live with some nice mountain views.

White and Hispanic is the same thing; European. Lol Usually "Hispanic" is the Mestizo population Half European Half Native American but varies DNA Amounts.

I don't know if you've ever been to the Palace on Whiskey Row, but their buffalo burgers are superb, in my opinion. You have to be insane to part with $15 to eat one of those, but I've done it several times and have never had any regrets (yes, it's proof that I'm insane) If you have the extra money, and if you like good cooking, try it out. You won't be sorry.

I have been to the Palace once. Did a video on it. Didn't get the buffalo burger, but the food was really good. I will keep that in mind next time I go back!

I've lived in the Valley most of my life, having moved out here while in high school in 1974. It used to be nice 20-40 years ago. Now the Phoenix metro area is at best a sea of cubed shit-colored homes and at worst a slum full of shacks, dirty streets, and crazy people hopping down the street screaming from toothless mouths at the tops of their lungs. The air is filthy. The drivers are aggressive and stupid.
I was not impressed by Prescott. I do like Payson, though, and Flagstaff! And I have lived briefly or visited many other cities - some in this country, some elsewhere. Of all the places that I've been, Phoenix is by far the ugliest, the least educated, and the least supportive of anything that actually makes a city great. But, what can I say? It's home!

I live in Prescott and we already have an influx of Californians. Please no more!!! They have drove up prices on homes, rentals, gas and food. Their driving habits are the worse I've ever seen. The town and county water supply can't keep up with demand. Now a corporation is trying to get a resort built next to one of the nicest places to visit, The Granite Dells. Most residents don't want you here except for the business owners and realty companies because the more of you here the higher they will raise prices. Stay in California or go somewhere else

All Californian's are not the same, some of us live in rural communities and are not the same as the typical Californian. But thanks for letting me know I'm not welcome.

Now you have an inkling of what Californians have had to put up with since the Dust Bowl days of the 1930s. People just keep streaming into California and crowding everything. Most "Californians" are from somewhere else to begin with. Now it's your turn to suffer from the influx.

Mortimer Snurd Give me a break. We have had to put up with way more from out of staters. More then you’ll ever know. That’s why native Californians are looking to get out. Most natives don’t want high taxes, high housing costs, or high population. Prescott is ripe for us, and there is not one damned thing you can do about it. So get over it, and be kind. We have hearts of gold. Good to know I will be living near some of my my peeeps.
