We live in an age where anime episodes are simulcast/subbed the day of release, vtubers can have 6 hour streams translated and subbed within the same day, and fucking Final Fantasy 7 Remake having a worldwide simultaneous release in multiple languages with multiple voice dubbing tracks. Let's not pretend Atlus is broke - they make BANK rereleasing every Persona game twice. This isn't a translating issue - its an Atlus issue expecting the thirsty fanbase to eat up whatever bullshit they put out.

      They're adding english voice acting, add that with the pandemic, and I can see why it would be a problem. China and Korea don't have to wait because their versions just have the japanese voices.
      Now, to nitpick the simulcast thing, they don't actually translate the episodes of anime in 1 hour. Translators get ahold of the literal script for the episode at least a week in advance. While you can get translations kinda fast, high quality professional-grade translations take time.

    I recently purchased SMT 3: Nocturne for the Nintendo switch. They fixed some issues that you mention in the video.
    Fusions/sacrifice fusions now allow you to select or randomize whatever skills your demons learn. Have yet to notice slow down, so far (messed up a choice early on with Pixie and had to restart, so I am only at the third kalpa now).
    This My first time playing SMT3 Nocturne on any system and I am having a blast. Heck I am eager to play the rest of the SMT/Persona series and hope it makes it to the switch as well. (Got what I could for PS3 And PsVita, but would love to have it all on a single system.)

    I can say that it is likely at least some of the Scramble delay is due to Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity being way higher on their priority list. You pointed out that they've been working their asses off to get HW out in a timely manner, and I def don't expect them to do that plus Scramble during a global pandemic and I'm not surprised a Persona spinoff was pushed back in favor of a literal prequel to Breath of the Wild.

    • @AsterBTT
      @AsterBTT 3 ปีที่แล้ว +30

      It's also simply the difference between Nintendo money and Atlus money; Nintendo's gonna push their shit out when they want it out, pandemic or no. They'll make absolutely certain they create a safe environment for their localization team and get it done ASAP. They have the money to do that. Atllus not only doesn't have that sort of money, they also consistently underestimate the impact of their games in the West. Nintendo is a worldwide sensation and household name, and while they've gained popularity in recent years, Atlus still develops relatively niche games designed predominantly for a Japanese market, whether they're owned by SEGA or not. Likely they and Koei Tecmo WANT to get Scramble out in the West, but there's too much else going on right now. Underestimating the effects that a pandemic has on a company that already takes forever to localize products is pretty foolish.

    I am currently playing through the JP version (as a Japanese speaker) and I don't have nearly the complaints you do. Yeah I would have liked some quality of life changes but I didn't expect any either from a remaster; I pretty much got what I was expecting to get. I also haven't experienced the same performance issues you have on the Switch. For me, it has been very smooth outside of one instance in the Mantra base. Also, not sure where you got it that made you pay 6500 Yen but you got ripped off, lol; it retails for just under 5,400 Yen. Oh, and with regards to the voice acting, it's top quality just like with most Japanese games nowadays.
    On to a different topic though, specifically what you brought up about localization quality from Atlus West at the beginning. As someone who has worked in translation/localization professionally it does get a little irritating when people who don't know how that industry works complain about things taking a long time; it's not always a case of just translating the game and calling it good. Now with regards to Nocturne in particular, it is odd since the game has already been localized. Also, I do agree with you that Atlus West's quality has dropped, but not for the same reasons; the bigger issue is that the actual quality of their translations has dropped significantly. P5R, for example, was filled with mistranslations, poor translations, and just completely incorrect dialogue.

    • @lightningfarronxp8899
      @lightningfarronxp8899 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@iker-jk2096 I'm going to try and rationalize it. Part of the reason it may run poorly (in this case) is because it's a switch port. Maybe it will run better on the PS4. Also it's probably not a simple port. Nocturne only released on the PS2. Rewriting the code for the switch was probably too expensive for a remaster so chances are they used an emulator to get the game on there. If you don't know, the switch isn't exactly good at 3D emulators and even struggles emulating the PS1 let alone the PS2. It boils down to hardware limitations. Considering the resources they have, it's shocking they were even able to get it on the switch to begin with.
