I just need to tell you. Your sister has received a box from Temu. This is a China based business. I will not let them into my pocket. Yes it is cheap but that is China. It is up to you but I hope you don't get into in. I just love you. Joyce
Hi Lisa, As I watched you get your grains out of that lower cabinet, I totally resonated with your idea of “30 seconds of inconvenience” might prevent you from doing something. So, it occurred to me that your lower cabinet might become much easier to navigate if you installed heavy duty drawer slides on the bottom of the interior with a pull-out platform. Then your tubs/pails can remain on the platform without lifting them completely out of the cupboard. Just a thought!
I’m a pastors wife and sometimes when a young mom comes to me felling discouraged about all the things she “isn’t”, I will counsel her to back off Instagram, pinterest and TH-cam for awhile.
So much this, not only for the time element but also, this mum needs to go inside and work out the changes she needs to make her journey happier and more fulfilled. I’m glad I didn’t have any social media in the early years of motherhood and homemaking!
I am 5 years clean from FB and IG. Never had Twitter or anything. I get on Pinterest to look for something specific. And take a break from TH-cam when I feel the jealousy stirring.
73 years old , I have done a lot of what you do. I would like to add that not everyone has the same physical and mental strength. It should be said often , do only what you can and really want to do. Don't forget to enjoy your individuality and remember it is not a contest. Sour dough and cheese do not necessarily make you the best mom. Love, gentleness and patience take some people more down time to cultivate. Rest, relax and breath.
This is so true. I have a SIL who is a mom and homemaker with very low energy. She starts feeling down if she takes on too much, so she's made peace with the fact that she can't do everything that other moms do. Instead of comparing, she puts her head down and just does what fits herself and her family. And she stays away from IG and FB. :)
Lisa, for every woman who manages to be discouraged by your content, there is another who is learning valuable skills from you. Your content speaks for itself, and there is nothing discouraging about it!
Sadly the discouragement comes from within. It's the manifestation of low self-esteem, low selfworth and perfectionism, all filtered through whatever personal drama we are going through at the time.
From content like this I have actually realised that I don't want a life like this (I don't think it's a bad life -it's just not for me). I take inspiration from the videos for recipes and simply enjoy the view into another kind of life. But I fully embrace that my life choices and values are different and that's okay :-)
I recently left a mom group after hearing about how certain things I do are unrealistic… it’s not unrealistic, I do it daily with sincere effort and ease and treat homemaking as my career. Thanks for sharing!
This hit home. I am one of those who tend to spend too much time gazing wide-eyed upon the brilliance and accomplishments of others, feeling envious and incompetent, and not enough time working on developing my own. Thanks for saying it in such a gentle way.
Weird that we all think so differently, I watch your videos WHEN I feel discouraged about homemaking and when I get overwhelmed to remind myself that we are equipped! And to get ideas for improvement! Thanks for these videos ❤
I was a stay at home mother before the advent of the internet. As I look back at those days one of my biggest regrets is that I let myself get so busy with volunteer things outside the home. I wish I had done fewer if any volunteer events and spent my time with my children at home. I encourage all new home makers to be just that a HOME maker. You can't make a home if you are too busy outside the home. The stress of being busy will only have a negative effect on you and your children.
So many memories of my mom sewing our clothes, cooking meals and playing board games and badminton. She was never bored as a homemaker, always on the go but she was there for us.
Your comment just makes me sad. I was left a single mother when my kids were young, and had to work a full-time job working 12 hour shifts to support us. I did indeed make a "home!" It wasn't what I planned or wanted, but I did my best with what I was given. I really hope other moms who are in the situation I was hear that you CAN make a home for your family, even if you have to be busy outside of it by necessity.
Thank you for addressing this issue! I am a homeschooling mother of ten with three still home full-time. I have been at this calling for 33 years, and I LOVE IT more today than ever. Is it work? Yes. Is it demanding and consuming, oh heavens, gloriously yes!!! Did I feel overwhelmed or “less than” sometimes in my earlier days, YES. BUT. Then by God’s grace, I learned something very important, (but it may be a little hard to hear) - WE get to choose OUR attitude every single day, and our chosen perspectives have HUGE power to make or break us. We can be inspired or we can be discouraged by others. We CHOOSE. We often end up casting blame or shame on others for making us “feel bad” because of how WE CHOOSE to see them vs. us…..but we often lose the opportunities given to us to be encouraged or inspired as a result of making - and often sitting in - that kind of negative or self-pitying choice. It can sting to let ourselves admit that, especially in today’s fragile environment, but I can say I gained LIFE - joy, maturity, resiliency, and freedom - when I chose to change the way I see! At 53, I am still all kinds of inspired by you, and by golly, I think I’ll get up and try making some cheese, too! ❤️😂
I just want to say I watch your show because you encourage me . God has given you a gift of lifting people up , teaching in homemaking . I do so much more from scratch than I used to a couple of years ago and I credit you and your show as one of my encouraging shows. That’s why I keep watching. Thanks for sharing
Your videos have gotten better and better. Honestly, it took me a while to appreciate them because at first I did struggle with the comparison game, but that has changed. BUT! Just for fun can you do a totally different video where you just kind of expose the happy chaos of life? No voiceovers, lots of disruptions and noises, just raw and real life. I think a lot of us would love it! Who’s with me? 😂❤
Mother of three young kids who also loves Lisa’s content… TBH, that is a video that I might not watch! I love my kids, but have begun wearing earplugs to dampen excess noise, as I really struggle with it. 😅 But I can always keep scrolling… there are those who would love this, too! Just my two cents!
You are a blessing not only to young mothers but to older moms also. I’m 66 years old have 5 adult children and 8 grandchildren. After watching you and your sister I now make sourdough bread and other yummy sourdough recipes from you, I also make my own soaps, face wash, lotions, bar soap, laundry soap, I enjoy every minute. I get out of the house about every two weeks to buy groceries, very busy and loving it.
I pray to be a such loving grandmothers like you some day. I'm 30 with 3 young ones and sometimes I stress about what life is going to look like when my house is empty.
Me too!! I’m 54 and have introduced our kids and grandkids into einkorn and sourdough and I am learning to just be happy at home and leave the busy outside world for someone else lol. Thank you Lisa and other creators for showing us older generation and the new younger generation a better way ♥️♥️
Me too. I’ll be 60 this year and still love keeping our home. It’s true that to keep the house the way I like it to function, I need to be home to do this like Lisa has said here in her video.
I think it’s important to also note that nourishing our bodies is huge in helping us to build resiliency. I was not nourishing myself properly in the years I was having babies. It turned me into an anxious, overwhelmed mother. These past 4-5 years have been so much better, since I have learned how to fuel my body properly. I also find that my capacity to do more grows as my kids get older.
@@gunnikr I make sure to get enough protein, and I focus on whole grains and raw dairy. I used to be a carb addict. I ate little protein, and in my earlier years of motherhood, I ate a lot more processed foods.
I love that you didn’t come at this with the approach of saying “Oh when I’m off camera, my life is chaos” or “I struggle too.” You gave us practical ways to achieve the life we want and didn’t leave room for excuses.
This fall I’ll be quitting my 14 year career to be a stay at home foster mom and homemaker. I’m trusting God with this process and have so much excitement for the next chapter. Thank you for being such an inspiration and showing us it is possible!
I watch your videos in awe and with SO MUCH RESPECT!! You are AMAZING!! You are the strongest woman I have ever seen. You don’t stop. You are superhuman ❤
I love your content. It isn't feasible for me but I can dream. I work fulltime with 2 boys at home and a mountain of laundry, but that is what works for our family ❤
Lisa, please don’t pay attention to any negative comments. Those people must be unhappy in their life. You are an amazing mom. In fact from all you do, you’re a super. Just remember to take time for yourself. 😊
I would love to add my perspective as a full time working mother. Your videos inspire and encourage me! While I know it wouldn't work for me to be able to tackle all you do, I love watching and learning new things, taking something here and there that I can incorporate into our home. I used your tutorial one weekend to sew a blanket. I have sourdough starter that I take out of the fridge occasionally and use to make delicious pancakes, sourdough skillet, or muffins. Then back in the fridge it goes until I have time to cook with it again. I plant mint in pots to pick and add to my bouquets that I bring inside after seeing you do that in one of your videos, and I love the smell! Thank you for sharing and inspiring with all the things that you share.
I just love your content and am really getting some ideas on how to uncomplicate life and chores. I work full time and sometimes I get really discouraged, because I am lacking the energy to do the regular chores of everyday life, especially since I got into my fifties, but watching your videos gave me a new perspective and has uplifted me! Thank you!
It really makes me feel better by hearing that the longer you’re a mom/homemaker, the more confident and productive you’ll become. I had 2 babies back to back and I’m so overwhelmed with caring for them, I really feel like I’m failing at homemaking. But I know it’s just the season I’m in right now and I’m trying to be patient with myself and my girls. I want to learn and practice so many homemaking skills but now is not the time… I think God is really trying to teach me to live in the present moment and take it slow! 😅
God bless. Enjoy the time to nurture your babies. Relish it. Time flies! If you want to bake, try yeasted breads before sourdough. Not as much maintenance needed and easier to do in general. King Arthur Baking Co. has great videos. They also have a help line. I started out with yeasted breads and later homemade jellies when my children were younger. Very rewarding. One thing at a time. One day at a time.
You are most certainly in a different season of life. It's totally fine that you are focusing more on your little ones than anything else! Having 2 babies back to back is hard, and your life will look different for a while from what Lisa is doing in her videos. It's awesome that you aspire to homesteading. You'll know when you're able to take some of those things on. But pace yourself and enjoy your sweet babies ❤ Also, it is completely true that as time goes on, you feel more confident in your homemaking role. My oldest is 11, and I feel like the first 5 years of her life were just trial and error. Now I'm fine tuning my role. It's a skill, and it takes time. Give yourself grace to learn.
I feel the same as you. I've had 3 boys back to back and feel overwhelmed by just keeping them and their needs met. It's like roller coaster of finally getting something done and the back in survival mode. I think we can encourage eachother that this isn't going to be the season for huge homemaking accomplishments but little baby steps.🤗
I always ask myself what’s something this week I can do better this week and what’s something I can add. We have 12 months a year so add one task or “hobby” per month. When you try to do it all at once you will fail and get overwhelmed. One baby step at a time no need to run 🥰
Yes, homemakers, keep your standards high. It does no one any favors to downplay how difficult (but rewarding) the job is, nor does it help to downplay how very capable we are of meeting and even enjoying the challenge. Thank you, Lisa!
These Videos Motivate me Everyday, I struggle with ADHD and nobody enjoys the daily tasks of cooking and cleaning but when I watch these Videos I motivate myself to start doing something and while I'm getting through my Home making tasks I carry my phone around and place it on the shelf to watch and continue motivating myself. At the end I look and I'm so happy IV completed all my tasks while enjoying learning and being inspired by this content 😃
I was a single mother for most of my kid's life. I dreamed of being a stay at home mom, and now in some weird way, because I watch you living my dream it satisfies the need I had. It is a beautiful thing to watch a young mom, and her young family living a full, simple, and productive life. You are blessed and I am blessed for peeking in on the Bass family. Always feel encouraged just for hanging out with you a wee bit Lisa.
Your words at 24:46 hit me like a ton of bricks!! All of a sudden it was a whole STADIUM of lightbulbs going off in my head!! Yes! YES!! Thank you for that different prospective… Off I go being productive and get to producing! 🙌🏼 🤗🤗🤗
I wouldn't trade going back to work for anything. Being a stay at home mom is my calling. I feel it in by bones. Your channel has helped encourage me to be better and to try new things, especially this week when I was feeling stressed and down in the dumps. It made me so happy to make mozzerella and your breadcrumb fried chicken recipe and to see the look on my family's faces when they tried it. You're an inspirational woman. Please don't let others get you down!
Really love this video. I work from home and have a few days during the week that I have to see clients in their home. My clients are usually mothers of children ages 0-5. I always try to remind moms that they need structure in the day to feel in control. When you addressed all the down time we do have thanks to modern advances and the fact that the mom felt discouraged because she felt she may not be able to get as much as you get done it takes me back to what I teach my mom's. If you can get a schedule down you can squeeze in other things you'd like to do or learn. There is time for everything you want to prioritize just do your best analyze where your time goes. I love to cook many fancy foods and bread is a huge passion as well. I always find time for these things because they bring me joy and peace. Thank you for addressing this topic. ❤
I love your channel because you’re always pushing me to grow and work through the challenges instead of just saying “yep it’s hard” and then leaving it at that. I know people like the “relatable” content these days but the reality is we also need to be pushed and inspired to grow and not just get stuck in the middle of those challenges with no way out. I don’t want to ever stop growing and learning. So thank you for making this kind of content!
I appreciate the encouragement that you offer as a seasoned mama and homemaker! On times of discouragement that I’ve experienced I also remind myself that we all have our own capacity to accomplish tasks and also we have different levels of support during the day. Some have husbands home that can help with the homeschooling etc while others of us and managing it all while husband is away at work.
Hi Lisa…I know I am about 11 months late watching this video but I’m still going to add my 2 cents! 😂So, I recently started watching your channel but I have watched other channels with stay at home moms and large families. Sometimes I would get in my feelings and start to feel some sort of way (negatively) as a mother. I thought why can’t I cook from scratch or their house is immaculate and they have a million kids and my house looked like a tornado hit it with my two kids. But my life is different from yours as I work full time, my kids go to school, I live in California, and I can’t cook. So, I started implementing little ideas from channels I watch. Also you are only sharing 30 minutes of your everyday life. So I agree once you learn things to implement and become a better or confident home maker then things change for you! Love your channel and for family ❤
Great job, Lisa! I have watched you for 3-4 years now. I am old enough to be your mom. It amazes me how you have grown. You were always in your kitchen, doing your best to feed your family well. Then you expanded to caring for your home, doing some decorating, cleaning more...making a nice home, as well, for your family. You have grown a lot...trading milk goats for a cow, expanding on your bread making, learning how to deal with your milk, making butter, and now cheese. I remember being a young wife, working full time, and trying to keep my home. It was a huge adjustment. Young ladies need to focus on their work, learn new things (and never stop learning!), and spend time being productive. You can relax when you are my age...BUT ENJOY your home and your family. Be patient with yourself, and always give yourself grace. Lisa, you have done that well. You never seem to get upset when things go wrong or you have a mess to deal with. I admire your for that. You are much better than me at that. You are a blessing. I love your channel!
What you do is a source of great satisfaction for you. Women who work and have to serve processed food to their kids, send them off to school having no control of what their little heads are being pumped full of and only have time after work to “spank them all soundly and send them to bed”, don’t get that satisfaction at home and most don’t get satisfaction at work either. No wonder many are so “dissatisfied” 😥
@@phyllisanngodfrey6137 This is a really hurtful description of working mothers. There are many wonderful ways to be a parent. You don't have to homeschool and be a stay at home mom to be a loving and present parent.
I am 66 and love watching these videos, because although I may not do every single thing you do, I do grasp fresh new things I would like to start doing, making cheese, and also the best house fitting my dream home in my mind I have ever seen 😁
You are so right about needing to become a producer at some point. About 5 years ago, I was on TH-cam watching people sewing clothes. I was in awe of their abilities and thought I’d never be able to do that. But a youth sewing class for my oldest daughter was offered through our homeschool group and that became the catalyst for my learning to sew! Now 5 years later, I make most of my own clothes and dresses for my girls, I make baby clothes for friends and family expecting new little ones, and can mend and transform things around our home. I am still not an expert, but I have come a long way and am excited to keep improving and learning. You do many things on your farm that I am not able to do due to lack of space, but none of us are called to live your life. I enjoy the content you produce and find it inspiring. I do not feel like I need to do everything the same way you do, though. :)
This is a good reminder to me. I’ve farmed and gardened for years but lately feel I need to learn some new skills, probably in the kitchen. I was kinda feeling I couldn’t because I have little ones. But this video, and the comments, remind me that” ain’t nothin to do but do it!” Sure we need to know when to rest, but we are capable of a lot more than we think often!
Aww Lisa..... when you said that homemaking is a skill that the more we practice the better we get at it... That's so true... 18 years of marriage, 6 kids, home educator and together with simplifying everything around me, just keep doing the next right thing again and again was the key to find my own pace and nurture also myself while homemaking.🙏✨️🌿 There's a difference between housekeeping and Homemaking and sometimes we're only wrapped in the first aspect. 🤗
I really enjoyed this distinction too! If it's just about a clean house but not a healthy family as a whole be cause of our work, it's just a perception of caring for things at home
I found your channel at the right before I became a mom and let me tell you, it’s been life changing. After watching your videos, I know this is the mom I strive to be. It can be discouraging but I have to remind myself I have a totally different life than you and I just have to adjust with what i have. I didn’t have a mom like you so thank you for showing me what moms are supposed to be like❤️
Oh, Lisa. You handled this topic wonderfully. This was just what I needed to hear. Spending more time at home, producing rather than just consuming, and just trying something new and getting good at just one thing at a time. I love the perspective that we perhaps do have too much time on our hands. You’ve given me much to think about, rebuked lovingly, and all the while encouraged me. Thank you for the video!
When you said "you just get more confident" i almost burst into tears! I actually felt like you were speaking to me. Just wanted to let you know that small things like that meant the world to me
Dear lady i just find your videos very inspiring thank you i m 60 years old italian lady you are my hero i m not discouraged at all love from uk london
The biggest thing I’ve noticed in my own homestead journey is exactly what you’re saying. When I’m learning a new skill, it takes up a ton of my time. But the longer I practice, it just is a part of life. So I’ve worked really hard to only add one skill at a time, knowing I’ll get to where I want to be without burning out.
Can I just say, your videos have been unbelievably encouraging to me… I get to learn new things and make a list of things I want to try and I just take one of those things at a time and slowly add things to my homemaking! Thank you so much for taking the extra time in your day to post videos! May the Lord bless you and your family!🙏🏼❤️
I grew up in a family of six. There was no internet. I’m sorry some don’t understand how efficient mom’s with big families become. My Aunt had 10 so we were often 16!!! Your explanation of how to manage chaos (😂) was really wonderful. I appreciate your sharing with others. Be well. 💜
Lisa - I’ve been watching your videos for years (like before you had 10K subscribers.) I’ve seen you grow in many areas of homemaking and motherhood. You articulated so well in this video how to combat the feelings that followers have expressed. Producing and making will always bring more joy and satisfaction than consuming. We were made to create and make things and grow and learn…that’s why when we don’t we feel discouraged and discontented.
I just discovered your videos and I love them. As a Mother of four I understand the chaos of daily life. I was brought up in a family of 7 with a very strong Mother who could make a feast out of nothing. She taught me how to can cook sew quilt garden but mostly to be thankful to God. She was famous for her pies and pie crust. ( I’m still trying to make a good pie crust.)
Comparison is a confidence killer. I enjoy watching you because if gives me inspiration to try different recipes, move a piece of furniture around in my house, organize the kids stuff a different way. I think I mostly enjoy watching you because you’ve inspired me to find happiness in my everyday life, work, chores just like you do. Keep it up! ❤
I actualky found that your videos gave me real practical tips. That werent so, strict which allowed me room to express myself. Sometimes i wish we could share our pictures on you tube. But then the comment section wouldnt be what it is. But, i just made my 5th artisan bread ever amd its the best one yet! I followed your recipe in your no knead sourdough with a touch of honey. An honestly i keept forgetting to do all the resting and stretching and it still turns out wonderful! Thank you Lisa!
As a homeschooling stay at home mom of four ages 4-9 life is always so busy! I tend to feel out my day because as women we don’t run on a 24 hour cycle but a lunar cycle around our periods. Some days/weeks I will be full of energy and on those days I am very intentional about getting a lot done! On the slower weeks I focus more on the necessities and self care. Balance really is key. And having grace for yourself and not comparing yourself to others. Your channel is super encouraging to me and I’ve been watching for a few years now. It shows me how strong and valuable stay at home mothers really are and how I can do it! Thanks for sharing your heart with us! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I’m always so encouraged when I watch your videos. If you can do what you do with so many kids, I can find joy and balance with my 2 kids. It helps me focus on setting my family’s priorities and growing in what’s important to me and my family. So motivating!
You are very encouraging & inspiring. You can tell by watching your videos that homesteading/home making is your passion, therefore it brings you peace. Not everyone can wrap their mind around a simple lifestyle because they thrive in a city with hustle and bustle, and that is okay too. Simple lifestyle seems ill fitting as it’s truly a lot of work. I enjoy being on our small hobby homestead. I enjoy planting, preserving & sharing our home with family and friends. So though you may share 30 minutes of life that doesn’t seem chaotic doesn’t mean you don’t have chaotic moments. Your home is beautiful & reminds me so much of my Great Aunt & Uncle’s farm when I was a child. When we visited, we took turns pulling water up from the well and were so amazed by it. Now , I think about them being in their 80’s without running water, a wringer washer and clothes line, I realize though they were humble, they were happy.
Lisa, I have learned so much from you and from your podcasts! I’m 49, a mother of four, 3 grown, and 1 still at home. All of our kids are close by, so usually everyone still comes home for dinner. This time in life is such a wonderful, exciting time full of change, yet our kids still love to be home with good food, good friendships, a warm and safe place that comforts their hearts. Homemaking is not just about the home…caring for your space and the people in it creates perpetual bonds. You are so good at sharing the many ways you accomplish that!
You saying “I am able to get stuff done because I’m in my home” resonates with me right now. It’s the end of summer and my house needs a major deep clean. We were on the go all summer and so much got pushed to the side. I’m looking forward to being forced into my house this fall and winter to actually tend to it again.
I'm a homeschooling foster/adoptive/bio mother of 8 forever children. I've been a mother for 24 years. Our life is pretty difficult due to foster care and the ages of our 5 youngest children. I love your channel. I will never have a life like you have but watching your channel is so calming to me. You inspire me to make small changes in order to live a more peaceful home life and to offer the children we take in our home a calm quiet home while they are with us. Thank you for sharing your life on TH-cam. I truly enjoy every video you make. ❤
I love your content. It makes me value your time more that you do look through the comments and can find the true heart of the person crying out. That is a gift and you teach so well. Other content creators would probably have dismissed the comment altogether, but you seen opportunity to encourage. Keep it up 😊!
Hello Lisa. I enjoyed the video. Have to say, I ALWAYS find your video’s “encouraging” and they are ALWAYS a pleasure to watch. I can’t imagine anyone feeling “discouraged”. In my opinion, people should take on what they themselves are comfortable with. Hope you’re all having a wonderful weekend 😉🕊️.
I’m older with grown daughters and grandchildren. I don’t do social media except TH-cam. You’re one of a few people I love to watch. I enjoy watching because of your personality, cooking, your beautiful home and your precious family. I’m always inspired by what you’re up to. Praying for all the discouraged moms out there for peace and contentment. Mom life is hard, but so rewarding. Take care and God bless. 😀❤️
My crooked finger hit send before I was done 😄. To add to my comment , there’s so much that I feel now with grown children that would’ve been an asset when they were small that I see watching you. Try not to take anything to heart dear, I think you ATE an inspiration to young moms today. And it’s all learned as you go I think, and having a lot of children you LEARN how to make the most of the time you have when it’s nap time and prioritize the more time consuming projects. That bothered me because it bothered you. If someone gets an inadequate feeling watching ANY video, if it were me, I’d just not watch - one does learn that by putting your hand on a hot stove NOT to do that again cause you don’t like that feeling 😄.
I am a stay at home mom since my first was born (1982). I have 10(7 boys, 3 girls). I homeschooled all of them and didn’t have the benefit of internet. I love learning! I’m amazed at your ability to get things done. I don’t question anything about your mothering. I learned early on that not leaving is key to success. If we had participated in 10% of the activities for homeschooling we’d never have made it. I have loved learning bread making this year. I’m back to quilting, gardening, cross stitch but didn’t have a lot of time for that for years. Even now I remember daily that my husband, kids and grandkids (17) are my first priority. I have loved watching your videos. So many things I wouldn’t have thought of!
When I watch social media, I keep in mind that I’m only seeing what the creator wants me to see. Social media isn’t necessarily real life. It’s edited, curated content. I use social media as inspiration. If it becomes discouraging, I either take a break from certain creators or from social media in general. I personally find your content encouraging. You do a lot more than I do, but I’m a single mom to 7 in graduate school. I don’t have the land for all of this. I also can’t do it on my own. But, I do what I can from scratch when I can. And that’s why I watch your channel.
Hi Lisa! I've been watching you for around 3-4 years, and you're a huge inspiration for me, a muslim woman, a mom of 1 toddler, from Kazakhstan. Although I don't imagine having to do as much homemaking (but who knows, right?) as you do, but the way you make things, cook, clean, contains so much love, that it's impossible to not be inspired🙌🌷 You're amazing!
I love watching these encouraging videos. Everyone has something they're good at. Sometimes we just have to keep searching until we find it. It's the spice of life. We are all unique.
Youre 100% spot on! Too much info is a blessing and a curse because we go down a rabbit hole of educating and then never doing. Your videos are so encouraging! Life goals!
My grandma gave me two pieces of advice I have never forgot. "Tend to your own garden." and "Comparison is the thief of joy." I think young women (in particular) struggle with jealousy, which is unfortunate. You have always been encouraging to me, Lisa! You've helped me learn to be a better mom and ease into homesteading! Thank you for sharing your gifts and skills ❤❤❤
Lisa, you are so kind. When something that I have seen on u tube bothers me I have to ask myself why! We all have choices to make daily. I so admire you and though I'm an older lady I feel very fortunate that I have you as a role model! Maybe we can all learn from each other. Thank you!
“Where are ur children?” I’ve been watching ur channel from your 1st home to Farmhouse! Your children are included & the family has grown since! Added cows, chickens, horse! I admire your Spirit of joy in ur home! Your children are learning from you how to manage their time Managing a “Home!” is like running a business. Thanks for Inspiration!❤
It makes me sad that someone saw you video and felt discouraged. About a year and a half ago I found Lisa....quick backstory for homemakers current or in the making.... In 2018 , 2 kids in, I had this feeling of "I'm not doing enough for my home" while also working a full time job. In between I kept trying to figure it out, trying this and that, finding this convenience and that one. But it was never enough, my home felt overwhelming and so did my heart. Scrolling and scrolling threw social media, just like Lisa said "consuming" dreams that other people were living. Till 2021 I saw alot of videos on what people did in a year. They took it month by month and learned something new. So I wrote down 12 things I wanted to learn or try. I LOVE bread so I decided to start with sourdough bread. I didn't even know there was a whole thing to sourdough. I thought it was an instant yeast packet , few hours rise and bam its done. 😂 That's when I found Lisa's channel. And also, that's when I unintentionally logged off Instagram for a whole year!!! I learned to bake in January and in February I moved on to something new and didn't feel overwhelmed bringing bread into that mix. I'm a mother of 4 young ones, my house is ALWAYS in somesort of chaos lol but I can make bread and nearly every meal from scratch now in peace. I just slowed down. I sometimes hang laundry vs the dryer. I read an actual book vs my phone screen. We have no wifi days to learn games or how to be present with each other. We just slowed down on the convenience we have. I really hope all this makes sense. But when I watch Lisa's videos, especially on days I feel like my homelife is upside down I get more encouraged because of the peace it does bring to my soul knowing that it's all gonna be okay. Just take it day by day. And so much beautiful comes from that. Also, after 4 kids, everything just kinda flows lol. In my opinion
@@gunnikr yes. There’s a reason (or more than one) that one particular women can have many children and another woman a few. So very interesting isn’t it!
I don’t think a lot of people know you have your husband at home who helps with the kids and homeschool. Most of us are doing homemaking solo and I know all moms can feel burnt out, frustrated, etc. people just don’t put those tough moments in their videos.
This was a fabulous video! As a young mom who has aspirations to do so much of what I see you do in your home, it is encouraging to have the perspective of taking it one thing at a time and when I’m interested in something, to just jump in and do it! Your videos are beautiful and inspiring 😃
I love watching your videos, they are beautiful! Another couple of thoughts for that commenter: 1) Lisa's husband is home, that makes a big difference. 2) making these videos is how their family makes an income, so they are a priority! We all have different priorities and situations. ❤❤
I subbed after your interview with Becky Acre Homestead. I am 58 years old and i continue to learn so much from you both. When Im feeling discouraged your vlogs are inspiring. Keep up the good work, you cant please everybody ❤😊
I am beyond happy that I have found your channel and seem to watch it obsessively. You are the sole reason I kept with making sourdough and sourdough recipes! I am much older than you and only had two children, which was a chore for me but I wish I’d had more. I truly can’t believe how much I learn from you every video. I still struggle with homemaking and baking but I feel hopeful from your videos. So much love!💚
This video was much needed ❤ I've been a homemaker/stay at home mom for a year and I have no idea how people do this. I've always felt overwhelmed and like I suck at this. I really appreciated the encouragement that motherhood and homemaking are skills and you get better the longer you do it.
I just found you and I love your videos! I have a sister that has 9 children and she was doing the same things as you are. Most of the day in peoples lives is wasted. And they don't even know how. We need to learn how to prioritize. Thanks again for your encouragement & for us all to learn from your experiences.
As a single 51yo working mom of a 19yo, I completely LOVE everything you are saying in this video❤ I...even as a "working mom" ...have always loved homemaking cooking etc. You are 💯 on your approach here.
I’m in my mid 30’s and I have a 2 year old daughter. I work from home and have a very flexible schedule. I love making things from scratch and being a homemaker. That be said, I constantly feel overwhelmed and like there isn’t enough time in the day or even week to do all the things I need/want to do. Watching videos like yours helps me in so many ways. Your videos inspire me and make me feel empowered and confident as a homemaker. I truly appreciate and enjoy all the content you post.
I grew up in a time watching and learning from my grandmother and mother doing canning, growing their own food and bread making among so many more skills they passed on to me. I was always comfortable working in the kitchen and making a home for my family. Without those women I am sure I would have struggled and been discouraged. I feel we women put a lot of pressure on ourselves to make everything we do look effortless. Maintaining a home is the heart and soul of families. I love the amazing job that you and your husband do and I enjoy learning from you!❤
This video came at the most perfect time. While watching a newer video of yours I had the thought "How does she do it...?" I only have one child, 1.5 years old, and I feel like I can't even get to a load of laundry a day, let alone make butter or cheese. This has helped my perspective a lot. Thank you.
My problem isn’t knowing what needs to be done, it’s not having the energy to do it. I get a lot done in the tiny pockets of the day, but my large free time when the little ones nap, I feel like I have to go lay down myself in order to make it through the rest of the day.
20min power naps can be a lifesaver for me! And having an homemade iced tea or iced coffee to look forward to with some music or podcast can help get me motivated. Also, could you divide their naptime in half and rest for half and tackle something for the other half?
Wow, looking at all of your comments, I can't believe you've read all of them. Makes putting a comment on here worth it. I found you channel because I'm ready to learn how to make sourdough bread and I'm thinking of taking your course. Anyways, watching this video in particular really helped me to slow down and like you said, just do it. The hardest part is getting started! It does feel overwhelming some days but I know, like you said, with time a practice it will get easier. Thanks for the inspiration and a reminder that what you do is edited and curated to be produced for us consumers who want to learn and not just watch reality TV. I appreciate your vulnerability and realistic take on things.
I definitely understand where this mum may have been coming from, we are all in different seasons and as our kids grow we can find space to do more or do different things. I find your content very inspiring and has helped me find satisfaction and contentment in motherhood and homemaking, of course this is how God intended us to live, taking care of our families and the earth ❤️❤️
Very gracious and helpful in this post. You are appreciated. Thank you. Bringing a reminding joy to my homemaking after being an empty-nester at 56. Keep on it sister💝
This video is the epitome of “barefoot and pregnant“, and I am here for it! I love your handmade home, and if I had to do it over again, I would’ve done the exact same thing. I’m so envious that you go a week without leaving the house. That’s for what I live. I just love your channel. Well done, you. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I personally find your videos soothing. There's something about watching you smoothly and methodically move through your day that is enticing to me. You make me want to slow down a little, try something new, and just generally take a little inventory of my priorities.

I just need to tell you. Your sister has received a box from Temu. This is a China based business. I will not let them into my pocket. Yes it is cheap but that is China. It is up to you but I hope you don't get into in. I just love you. Joyce
Hi Lisa,
As I watched you get your grains out of that lower cabinet, I totally resonated with your idea of “30 seconds of inconvenience” might prevent you from doing something.
God bless you, Heidi!
This is always helpful for me!
🙏✨️
I am 5 years clean from FB and IG. Never had Twitter or anything. I get on Pinterest to look for something specific. And take a break from TH-cam when I feel the jealousy stirring.
73 years old , I have done a lot of what you do. I would like to add that not everyone has the same physical and mental strength. It should be said often , do only what you can and really want to do. Don't forget to enjoy your individuality and remember it is not a contest. Sour dough and cheese do not necessarily make you the best mom. Love, gentleness and patience take some people more down time to cultivate. Rest, relax and breath.
You said this beautifully, and are so right. I may have to print this out and pin it to my wall! Thank you.
This is so true. I have a SIL who is a mom and homemaker with
very low energy. She starts feeling down if she takes on too much, so she's made peace with the fact that she can't do everything that other moms do. Instead of comparing, she puts her head down and just does what fits herself and her family. And she stays away from IG and FB. :)
So well said! I’m glad you shared this. Thank you. This is what so many can benefit from right now. Great words spoken.
Wise words. Thank you.
Perfect! Great wisdom!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Lisa, for every woman who manages to be discouraged by your content, there is another who is learning valuable skills from you. Your content speaks for itself, and there is nothing discouraging about it!
Thank you!
For every one that finds it discouraging there's probably 10 that find her videos encouraging. I love her videos
I find Lisa’s videos fascinating. I wish I had done the same.
Yessss!!
Yes!
Same, they get me out of the bed, out of the rut... I've gotten so many ideas from these and other similar content creators.
BUT. Then by God’s grace, I learned something very important, (but it may be a little hard to hear) -
WE get to choose OUR attitude every single day, and our chosen perspectives have HUGE power to make or break us.
Wow, that is so true.
@@anydaynow7755 Well said.
I just want to say I watch your show because you encourage me . God has given you a gift of lifting people up , teaching in homemaking . I do so much more from scratch than I used to a couple of years ago and I credit you and your show as one of my encouraging shows. That’s why I keep watching. Thanks for sharing
Love to hear that!
But I can always keep scrolling… there are those who would love this, too! Just my two cents!
Yesss
I agree 100%
I like the voiceovers. That's tidy editing and appreciated by me.
@@Bernergirl2008we can do that!? Maybe it’s time… I’m so over stimulated!!😅
Me too! I’m 64 and loving making sourdough for my family. I really enjoy these videos.
I pray to be a such loving grandmothers like you some day. I'm 30 with 3 young ones and sometimes I stress about what life is going to look like when my house is empty.
🌸🤍🌸
That's such good advice. I forget to eat all the time and wonder why I don't have energy?
I'm gonna eat now
I agree...important for us and our children.
What do you eat now?
@@gunnikr I make sure to get enough protein, and I focus on whole grains and raw dairy. I used to be a carb addict. I ate little protein, and in my earlier years of motherhood, I ate a lot more processed foods.
I love that you didn’t come at this with the approach of saying “Oh when I’m off camera, my life is chaos” or “I struggle too.” You gave us practical ways to achieve the life we want and didn’t leave room for excuses.
thats such a great point!
This fall I’ll be quitting my 14 year career to be a stay at home foster mom and homemaker. I’m trusting God with this process and have so much excitement for the next chapter. Thank you for being such an inspiration and showing us it is possible!
How wonderful!
Thank you so much for sharing!
Thank you!
I'm so glad!
But pace yourself and enjoy your sweet babies ❤
Also, it is completely true that as time goes on, you feel more confident in your homemaking role.
Love that! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you!!
Thank you for sharing that!
I’m 78 and still learning from homemakers like you and thank you so much for making your wonderful tutorials .
That is good encouragement for anyone wanting to learn something but feeling like they can't! Just give it a try, right? Thanks for sharing.
That is very beautiful and inspiring. Thank you for sharing. Have a lovely week. 💐
Good for you! It feels so great to learn new skills and get better at them! That's a great example for your kids ☺
I am so glad I found your channel.
I have been wanting to do sourdough for a long time and am very excited and encouraged.
Thank you
You are so welcome!
Aww Lisa..... when you said that homemaking is a skill that the more we practice the better we get at it...
That's so true... 18 years of marriage, 6 kids, home educator and together with simplifying everything around me, just keep doing the next right thing again and again was the key to find my own pace and nurture also myself while homemaking.🙏✨️🌿
There's a difference between housekeeping and Homemaking and sometimes we're only wrapped in the first aspect. 🤗
What a wonderful distinction you made, that there’s a difference between housekeeping and homemaking! Yes, indeed!
I really enjoyed this distinction too! If it's just about a clean house but not a healthy family as a whole be cause of our work, it's just a perception of caring for things at home
@@kinseyjohnson4341 humbling 🙏✨️

Sourdough is not only productive it is rewarding and therapeutic
When you said "you just get more confident" i almost burst into tears! I actually felt like you were speaking to me. Just wanted to let you know that small things like that meant the world to me
Dear lady i just find your videos very inspiring thank you i m 60 years old italian lady you are my hero i m not discouraged at all love from uk london
Thank you so much!
Be well. 💜
I really like what you’re doing please keep it up.
thank you!
Thank you for sharing with us and what a great mom you have!!
I'm so glad!
That's so true! Thank you for sharing.
Loved this style of video. Voiceovers instead of music and talking about real life topics ❤
Thank you for not only validating, but going on to edify!
I love your content. It makes me value your time more that you do look through the comments and can find the true heart of the person crying out. That is a gift and you teach so well. Other content creators would probably have dismissed the comment altogether, but you seen opportunity to encourage. Keep it up 😊!
When I tell you this popped up in my feed at EXACTLY the right moment!! Thank you for this.
I am in awe of you. I just found you & love all the things that you can complete in one day. Love your house & the way you decorated it.
thank you!
As a mom I love your videos they calm me after a crazy day with teens
I love watching these encouraging videos. Everyone has something they're good at. Sometimes we just have to keep searching until we find it. It's the spice of life. We are all unique.
Youre 100% spot on! Too much info is a blessing and a curse because we go down a rabbit hole of educating and then never doing. Your videos are so encouraging! Life goals!
My grandma gave me two pieces of advice I have never forgot.
"Tend to your own garden." and
"Comparison is the thief of joy."
I think young women (in particular) struggle with jealousy, which is unfortunate.
Thank you!
“Where are ur children?”
I’ve been watching ur channel from your 1st home to Farmhouse!
Your children are included & the family has grown since! Added cows, chickens, horse!
I admire your Spirit of joy in ur home! Your children are learning from you how to manage their time
Managing a “Home!” is like running a business.
Thanks for Inspiration!❤
The cheese making was fascinating. So many steps involved. You are amazing.
I really admire your discipline and total practicality
Thank you for explaining that.
I'm a mother of 16, and people would ask me the same thing.
You did a great job.
16?! Seriously how do you not get overwhelmed? I’d forget their names 😂 I think some people are born with better nervous systems.
@@gunnikr yes. There’s a reason (or more than one) that one particular women can have many children and another woman a few. So very interesting isn’t it!
What a beautiful video Lisa. You are so inspiring. I watch your videos daily.
Thank you!
I don’t think a lot of people know you have your husband at home who helps with the kids and homeschool. Most of us are doing homemaking solo and I know all moms can feel burnt out, frustrated, etc. people just don’t put those tough moments in their videos.
That is so true. I want to do bread, and I just need to do it and stop worrying about it.
Yes, I always encourage folks to just jump in and give it a try....you will learn so much more by just doing it.
This is the best life don’t let anyone drag you into their rat race.
Lisa you have a beautiful farm. I live in the city and I want something like yours. Congratulations. Beautiful family as well. You rock it girl❤️
Thank you so much!
This was a fabulous video! As a young mom who has aspirations to do so much of what I see you do in your home, it is encouraging to have the perspective of taking it one thing at a time and when I’m interested in something, to just jump in and do it! Your videos are beautiful and inspiring 😃
Thank you for the encouragement ❤️
I love watching your videos, they are beautiful! Another couple of thoughts for that commenter: 1) Lisa's husband is home, that makes a big difference. 2) making these videos is how their family makes an income, so they are a priority! We all have different priorities and situations. ❤❤
I subbed after your interview with Becky Acre Homestead. I am 58 years old and i continue to learn so much from you both. When Im feeling discouraged your vlogs are inspiring. Keep up the good work, you cant please everybody ❤😊
Thank you!
You AND your sister have both been a blessing and inspiration to my life and the lives of my children. Please DO tell your mother.
Thank you so much!
Beautifully put, thank you!
I love what you're sharing with everybody
This video was much needed ❤
I've been a homemaker/stay at home mom for a year and I have no idea how people do this.
I love the amazing job that you and your husband do and I enjoy learning from you!❤
Thank you!
This video came at the most perfect time. While watching a newer video of yours I had the thought "How does she do it...?" I only have one child, 1.5 years old, and I feel like I can't even get to a load of laundry a day, let alone make butter or cheese.
This has helped my perspective a lot. Thank you.
Thank you for teaching me how to Cook and being such an encouragement! 🤍
My problem isn’t knowing what needs to be done, it’s not having the energy to do it. I get a lot done in the tiny pockets of the day, but my large free time when the little ones nap, I feel like I have to go lay down myself in order to make it through the rest of the day.
Make sure you are eating good healthy foods and getting the sleep you need...and if you need a nap take one! You are doing great work.
Thanks so much and I hope you give sourdough try....I have lots of info on FarmhouseonBoone.com
