For those watching from now on, check if you have the tire change tool kit that comes with the truck. If not, it is available from multiple sources (probably) but Rock Auto has it for ~$33 or so. Fairly cheap compared to the aggravation without it and sitting on the side of the road.
What you need to do is add another extension on to the inside socket and make it come out pretty far. And then add a add a long handle to the end of it. And make the be able to turn normally so you can lower your tire down a lot faster than using a ratchet. It could be a replacement for your factory lowering setup. Just had a crossbar with the nitrous cut out in it so you can hook it to your end of your socket extension. Or you can hook your socket extension into a drill motor security. And that would make it a lot faster for you to lower your heavy tire down and up when you are when you are done with it.
Yeah, just use a 3/8 air or electric ratchet to lower and raise it. When you hit 60 it gets tedious letting one of those down or raising it with hand operated tools.
Why did they stop the storing of the spare wheel inside a cradle held with one bolt? So easy, so simple and everyone could get at the spare quicker. I guess the cost of that cradle and one bolt plus the time it took the dealer mechanic to replace it wasn't worth anything for the dealer to make money on. Good job Donnie.
Those things rust solid on an upper midwest truck... If the truck is more than 1 year old, that will be rusted solid... So that was very informative. I've seen pictures of how they work, but I honestly have never seen one work....
Maybe some new springs could help on your weight problems
Yep
Improvise, adapt, and overcome, by gad! Country boys can survive!
Thanks
My husband said the ground was to hard to drive a 10 ft rod so someone cut the rod off He has to do this sometimes
He’s probably right
@@mybrotherdonnie he builds power lines an has to use ground rods all the time
@@mollyc9038 then he knows what he’s talking about
Can you use a battery operated cordless impact gun to lower and raise the spare tire?
Yep
Awesome
Thanks
I was expecting you to pull out the Milwaukee power rachet to wind up that cable... but the hand rachet did the job, just slower.
I need the Milwaukee sponsorship
Carry a cordless impact and you won't to ratchet.
I usually got one with me

Well done! Thank you for making the video. Getr done ✔️
Thanks

You could do that, but I like it my way

"Somebody's gonna tell me it's stupid"
"It probably is"
Hell yeah Donnie
Thanks
Great idea. That's what I'm gonna do....weld a socket to the hoist so I 'm won't have that hassle in the future that I am having now.
It is a hassle that’s for sure

I’m sure somewhere money was involved but they’re going to blame it on it was too easy for people to steal the tire
@@mybrotherdonnie That is so true Donnie, and that it'll cost a hell of a lot more than a tire to replace and install the mechanism.

Just shows, if you keep enough crap laying around and have the will you can make anything. Well done👍
Yep that’s for sure I have done so much for so long with so little I can now do anything with nothing
I got the Milwaukee blues people
Me too
So rather then buy a 25 dollar kit from amazon you did all that? Strange man, very strange!
Thanks
