    I replaced the rear bumper on my Silverado a couple weeks ago and I was kind of stumped on the spare tire hoist cap so I had left it in my old bumper. 5 minutes after finding your video I had it out and got it all figured out now. All I need to do is buy a new retaining ring kit and it will be on the new bumper. You made a very helpful video.

    Thanks for showing us this. I just bought a new off road bumper and had no idea how to get the old tube off and replace it. I did what you did and just bought a whole new kit. It was so rusted out that it just snapped in half. Thanks again for this it was a huge help.

    Bunch of videos out about how to remove the obvious bumper bolts, but nothing about this pain in the neck. What a dumb design, they could have held it with a couple of screes.... GM..... Biggest hassle changing the bumper is that silly setup.

    I did all that and my lock cylinder tube would not go through, am I missing something?

    • @madetohelpyou
      @madetohelpyou  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi
      Is the ring set installed correctly and was the black tube damaged during removal or did u order a new tube? After installing the ring set. You should be able to tap the door from outside the vehicle forcing it to lock into the ring. You must apply force to lock the tube into the ring set

    • @madetohelpyou
      @madetohelpyou  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Remember the fat part at the end of the tube that grabs the hole from the outside of the bumper door must be forced threw the hole to lock into the teeth of the ring. Not sure exactly what u mean by the tube wont go threw?

    Wow, automotive engineers should be shot, Two SS screws would have done the job for less and way easier. Great to know this, just too bad I didn't see this beforehand as no one has this ring in stock. So much for best-laid-out plans for the day...
