  • Matt's review of this wonderful E-Type on the furiousdriving TH-cam channel: • 1966 Jaguar E Type 4.2...
    Thanks once again to New Forest Classic Car Hire at Beaulieu Garage (www.newforestclassiccars.com) for providing this incredible E-Type for review! You can hire this very car for your own secret missions and other unspecified reasons...
    In this review, amazingly, the 1,000 Subscriber Special, we go for a suitably attired day out in The New Forest in a wonderful 1966 Jaguar E-Type 4.2 2+2 to see how practical it is, what it is like to drive and what it is like to own. Be prepared for in-jokes for fans of a certain long-running 1960s British spy-themed television show, references to Peter Serafinowicz's seminal spoof science series Look Around You, film and television location spotting, a very nice steering wheel, a strange headlight dip switch, the first time ever my "woollarding" has not really been possible, a tribute to a certain famous Jaguar test driver, a suspiciously locked glovebox, surprisingly good drone footage and generally little of any consequence at all... Nothing untoward, then!
    As an independent vehicle consultant, I take potential buyers through the whole car buying process from choosing a make and model to a vehicle handover and road tax. In addition to information on this service, I also have a selection of written and video reviews of cars that I have owned, hired, borrowed or have somehow come into my possession. Please use the Contact Me page on my website to get in touch, visit my Facebook page for latest updates and share this video if you like it! Thank you for watching.

    Congratulations mate, I'm really pleased for you! And love the jag, I'm surprised how cheap it is to hire.

      @lloydvehicleconsulting  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it starts at around £185 for an evening and then goes from there, so it's pretty reasonable.

    An historic day in more ways than one, congratulations Sir! A new Tweed Jacket, I'm overcome with emotion.

      Oh, Mr G! It is an emotional time. The new Tweed Jacket was a necessary expense, but hopefully a useful one. Hope you enjoyed the review!

    You look like such a happy boy. I think you may love this car. I take it you read LJK Setright's test drive of the E Type from the CAR Magazine November 1979. A Special Thing.

      I did enjoy it, sir! It's one of the first times that I felt like a proper motoring journalist on the channel. An absolute handful to drive at lower speeds, but completely wonderful when pushed, it was just a shame that Mr Richardson and I seem to have been the only ones who have watched the video...

    Fantastic piece Joseph, and a wonderful car. I can relate to the useless mirrors and steaming up inside with my Giulia 😄

      Ah, sir, your Alfa Romeo is brilliant! You clearly put up with quite a lot to ensure that you have the authentic Giulia driving experience, don't you?

    Sir I had to come back to this video to hear that wonderful XK Straight 6. Those seats do look inviting. You do seem to grab it by the horns and wrestle it into submission, Sir. I am so jealous of you being in control of those 3 Webers.

    My Good Friend, here we are once more. All I can ask is, " Did that Steering Wheel feel amazing, or not?".
    Goodbye, I have a 1982 2.8i to enjoy.

      I don't remember, sir! A non-standard wheel, but it looked amazing. You do need a fairly big wheel to manoeuvre these due to the lack of power steering...

    Awesome. A car for driving not for holding Starbucks cups. There was an interesting episode of the Professionals that starred a White Series 3 Roadster as Doyle's pride and joy. It does go down in flames at the end but Joseph Lloyd will already know this. MG6 next and then Alfa Romeo 166

    • @lloydvehicleconsulting
      @lloydvehicleconsulting  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, there was indeed in "Hunter/Hunted"! The car was owned by one of the production staff, and when it blows up, it has transformed into a Series I shell, so they didn't actually trash a roadworthy car. No cupholders, but a hugely enjoyable experience nevertheless.

    You really should have a go in a Moss gearbox E Type to prove how amazing that the Quaife 5 speed is.

    Awesome review! The Italian Job vehicles were shown at the 2019 London Classic Car Show with the red Jaguar shown on my TH-cam video. Do you know anywhere that hires out a 105 Series Alfa Romeo coupe? Something to consider for a future birthday.

    • @lloydvehicleconsulting
      @lloydvehicleconsulting  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ah yes, I did film the 2019 London Classic Car Show. In fact, it was the first ever Slightly Shambolic Shuffle! Glad you enjoyed the video. I have driven a 105 Series Coupé (although it was just a walkaround I filmed after the test drive back in the summer of 2019), but I don't know of anywhere who hires one of those out, sadly...

    Suits you very well Joseph.
    Regarded by many (including Enzo Ferrari) to be the prettiest car ever made. I think it's possibly one of the nicest though the Lamborghini Miura for me is the standout design. By comparison the E type though now pricy is an absolute bargain by comparison to a Miura.
    Think I'd struggle even to get an MGB these days.

    • @lloydvehicleconsulting
      @lloydvehicleconsulting  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you, Mark! Yes, definitely one of the best looking cars ever designed, although when you drive it, the long bonnet makes it a bit terrifying coming out of junctions... On the roads of the New Forest where we tested it, it was sublime! You are right, very expensive now, although this would be one of the more affordable ones if they were to sell it. Thank you again for watching and commenting!

    The triple weber carburetors make it sound awful ! I know the SU's are a bit of a pain in the arse but that car just sounds so rough

    • @lloydvehicleconsulting
      @lloydvehicleconsulting  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think that the car has a few modifications, such as the Weber carbs and the five speed gearbox, to make it a bit easier to run when used as a hire car and to make it easier to drive for ham fisted drivers like me...
