Thanks everyone for being here! Since I already have some Patreon money saved up I'll be trying to host my first $1000 2v2 tournament in January/February and go from there :) Please feel free to drop any suggestions about formats, rule ideas and stuff because I'm definitely down to shake things up a bit with rules on resource sharing, races, maybe even certain mods etc. Thanks so much for watching everyone and have a great day
I think adding mods would be interesting but that should be later when you feel the games get a bit "stale". Starting simple would be good cause 2v2 tournaments is something i've never watched with pro players. Love the video (and you ofc
It certainly won't revive sc2, it would give it a temporary boost in life but. The fate of this game is in the balance counsels hands and its.... looking grim
All race mod or require everyone to play random. I would love to see some crazy scenario where teammates are giving control of units to teammates due to have better control in this or that
I'm old and lame. And I know playing a video game for a living can get very stale, but the amount of enjoyment you give us with these videos with your positive attitude, creativity, etc is just so awesome. It's also absolutely insane how talented you are. If I have a 5 second conversation with my 5 year old midgame, my D3 ass somehow starts floating a zillion minerals. Yet you are able to play at the very top levels while commentating your own play, it's just so nuts.
Sc2 really dropped the ball on not investing more into 2v2 and 3v3. This was the bread and butter with my friends after college and you could see the giant shift into team games such as league. Very few gamers enjoy playing solo. They would rather play with other people and or friends. Hope the 2v2 scene in sc2 keeps growing.
They didn’t drop the ball. There was no reason to ever give SC2 a ball. One artist in an afternoon let Activision made more money off crap in WoW than the hundreds of people and YEARS it took to make Starcraft ever made so there was no reason to bother trying to work hard to make Starcraft profitable or further its playtime.
@@Very0dd I kind of feel like that's just because there isn't a pro scene in 2v2 to be honest - I think that if people took 2v2 as seriously as they do in 1v1, that it would also eventually become about as "solved" as 1v1 is and it would also become pretty stale - the reason there are so many different strategies is mostly that people just don't really know what they're doing, but if that stopped being the case I think most of those strategies would vanish because they're just not good enough.
These 2v2 games are absolutely epic! Looked like you guys were completely cooked and managed to steal victory from the jaws of defeat! Would love to see some of your other recorded 2v2 matches and really hope that 2v2 competitions become a thing in the future.
I don't know what caused it but TH-cam suggested me some of your videos on my home page not long ago and I watched one out of curiousity. Now I'm basically tuning in every day to see what kind of shenanigans you manage to get into with your cheese and team games. Loving your enthusiasm for SC2.
Love the 2v2s, absolutely my favorite SC2 content right now. Hopefully more and more players will join you, it is much more interesting and unpredictable.
I honestly don't care what content you make. StarCraft or other RTS, doesn't matter, I genuinely enjoy this channel. Your commentary is perfect, I can watch or just listen; is exactly what I need to get through the day.
What an amazing game! I love team matches and I 100% agree it definitely adds more dynamic to army composition and completely new scenarios that you never see. I love how you are able to talk so fast too, I feel like most encounters here were covered and I really understood what was going on for sure. If you post more videos like this then I will watch them! Thank you for always trying to spice things up and find a new way to play!
I remember a great game I played- My teammate was killed out- he left me with four probes... I moved to take all three bases on the right side of the map- terran, I made about forty Vikings, full upgrades, I had 8 Starports with reactors. The opponents were busy taking out my main, so I sent all forty to take out theirs. They F2'd to kill them off, not knowing I had other bases, and more importantly, more production. I totally took out their production, but they had a huge Carrier fleet, they went looking for my production, but it was too late, my bank was so big could re-max to about 40 Vikings, and I could take out their heavily damaged Carriers. The game seemed lost- but I took out both opponents in the end mainly due to their overconfidence.
2v2 is my favorite type of games. I only play 2v2 by now. I had an epic game where me and my teammate had 85 supply combined and they had 185. Somehow, I manage to defend for 5 minutes straight with my orbital, and a 4-5 cyclone against 2 army attacking from 2 different angle, while my teammate built back an army of marines and went to destroy their main base. That game was Epic. I thought it was one of the biggest comeback I seen in my life. Crazy feeling when they fiiiiinaly GG at the last second like how the f*** we won this game
ive never played a solo game besides sc2. everything else has been team games and watching you and goblin inspired me to get some consistent 2v2 partners. Would 100% love more casts and big tournaments!!! You're shaping the 2v2 scene right now (at least at my league). Theres very little content out there on 2v2 and you have the big seat my friend. keep it up thermy
in every game team mode is much more complicated than 1v1s because instead of paying attention to 2 sides, you must pay attention to 4-6-8 sides or whatever + u must learn to communicate good with team (totally not present in duels) + you must be ready to defend 2v1 for example etc etc. So you pretty much do all the things u do in 1v1 + you must do multiplayer things. Also this is why not many good duel players are actually good team players, and vice versa. SC is no different, it is totally normal, the problem is team games in pubs, where u can get totally off balanced teams. But I guess this is not a problem when it is 6K+ MMR game.
@@jankowalski1501 yea it CAN happen, but so long as you make a rule that 2 players can't team up to beat one player, then the possibility of 1 person getting attacked by 2 isn't game winning because the 2 armies will engange eachother when they meet in the same base
I love the team content. Personally I like the live commentary, and Goblin is fun to hear. There's something about the emotional reactions in the moment
2v2 allows for such a flexible playstyle that makes doing anything you want somewhat viable instead of the usual pro strats everyone and their mothers uses for 1v1, it really feels like a breath of fresh air
Just needed to see "base trade" in the title to know it was going to be good. And the 2v2 is the cherry on top and the decoration made of sugar, at the same time.
Yes! Epic. Love this game, and the opportunities that 2v2 brings! Also, I've said it before but I'll say it again: Marc is by far my favorite commentator.
my two biggest wonders about startcraft has been for the last few years: 1. Why not 2v2 is more common (it's awesome to watch) 2. Why not random vs random tournaments are a thing. I love seeing pro's playing off races, and it shows more general starcraft skills than the stuff we've seen 100 times before. Thoughts on this marc?
Imagine if teams shared upgrades so a team of the same race had that advantage over a multi-race team. Further, imagine the potential for hybrid units (e.g. infested terran) that could then be implemented to give an incentive to play multi-race teams.
Several older competitive games are moving to 2v2 styles more. I got back into watching competitive Pokémon now that the biggest ones are 2v2 battles because of all the weird tactics you can do and so much more predicting like which Mon you think he will target. Definitely agree that 2v2 is the way to keep things fresh.
I actually play the exact same way as both of you in team games. 3 nix, across the map first thing, to pick up Protoss gas probes. 3 stargate too. :) Also when playing tvp, sending my first 2-4-6 hells across the map to literally just snipe probes. Completely ignoring stalkers.

(I had one 12 player map, most were 8 players, i and i made a few maps for 5 way FFA since that was our usual amount. I was the one who did balancing and fixing bugs we found. Some maps also favored Naga with the amphibious ability. Eventually I made a mode where you get randomized heroes. You build your alter and it could be ANY hero from ANY race. (With some edits such as making Death coil heal friendly and hurt foe instead of how it works usually) This ended up being the mode we played from then on. My Custom game died as random heroes was so much fun. We had 32 heroes we could roll. (And yes you could get two of the same hero. (It also forces you to get familiar with each hero as while you may never build a Lich, you have no choice. (You don't know what hero you get until it finishes training.) Taverns also did exist in this, but just as a quick revive, and they were not great spots to venture to. Night elf had the advantage (Wisps) so i eventually just removed them. I'm more of an FAF player than a Starcraft 2 player, and one thing I wondered was why team games (2v2, 3v3, etc) weren't as popular in Starcraft 2 as they are in FAF. Some of the most epic replays I've seen come from high-rated team games there. Initially, I thought that it was simply due to the mechanics of Starcraft, and that the game was so balanced towards 1v1 that multiple players would end up with games focusing on short, fast games with a limited effective unit pool, but clearly your videos have show that assumption to be incorrect. The more likely explanation is that players haven't given it enough of a chance to see that there's more to it than the cheesy tactics, and Blizzard simply hasn't given them any reason to believe otherwise. However, with players like you convincing the community otherwise, there may be some hope for it yet. FAF is 17 years old, and it took nearly 10 of those years for the team games to really hit their stride, so maybe now is the time for team games to become popular in SC2...
