I can't believe my sister let me makeover her space | Style Selected

In this edition of Style Selected we makeover my sister Jenna's living room from a simple and disorganized room, to a personalized and cozy Scandinavian-inspired dream space! We added some beautiful modern pieces like an oversized lamp and natural ivory rug that was gifted from Article (thanks Article!) to warm up the space. We DIY'd some chic faux leather pulls for an IKEA hack filing cabinet. And finally, we added a forest green accent wall, and some of Jenna's own decor to make this space all her own. I feel like their designs should be revealed to the client anonymously-so the client won’t be as biased ?? the choosing of the design part is so awkward!! That way they’d be more likely to go with the design they actually prefer and not who designed it ✨
They explained in a previous episode they do that off camera ahead of time so they can get paint and furniture etc. What we see is edited for viewers.👍🏼
They probably would've changed it by now if they wanted to, they get this comment on all style selected video's. I think the choosing is not what's awkward though, they're all grownups, it's the reenactment that makes it feel a bit off. Idc too much, but yeah I'd prefer it if the voice over would just tell us which design got chosen.

I really really liked Becky's design. It just sucks that she is renting cause that wainscoting on the wall would have been beautiful.
But her design departed too much from the Scandinavian style that she liked. I knew immediately her design wasn't getting picked

I feel like that renter friendly comment was a cop out, they drilled a bunch of holes in the wall anyway. Drilling holes vs stapling gun wainscoting is about the same amount of damage :/

I always feel such tension and saltiness during the competition “whose design do you prefer” parts of these videos. Lol like the girls are gonna throw down. (All in good fun I mean, a little competitiveness is good)

Most of the time it’s friendly competition but one time Becky seemed really passive aggressive after she lost I was really surprised
I'd almost prefer they present the two options without saying whose design it is, then it's revealed to the client once they pick the design!

Kelsey's design is more grown up. Becky's design seems to have a small scale in mind - nice moments here and there, but doesn't tie the whole room together.

Patricia Bright did it in her bedroom makeover not long ago. I’m thinking that’s where she got the idea from.
Although I loved Becky's design but i also feel that Kelsey's was more rental friendly and more feasible for the viewers for inspiration . And it turned out pretty well
While i dont see the physical resemblance, that “byyyee” on the phone call was the same and adorable
Although I don't think they resemble each other either, if you ever watch their vlog channel, Kelsey is a carbon copy of their mom and Jenna their dad, it's so cute. :D

I think Kelsey was on the money, with the color green and the lighting. Ultimately, both designs were great. Loved seeing the similarities between the 2. Loved the mirror over the shoe /file holder, and loved all the final touches. What is the paint color? It looks so rich.
But like Becky's design was so dreamy and I really wanted it to be chosen. Two accent walls 👌

I know, who cares that much about files? I think it was more valuable to say it also works as a bit of a console table/shelf surface to place things on the top as you enter the room.

Loved Kelsey's design from the beginning and the end, wow. Love it even more. I'm surprised the landlord allowed so much. They are pretty vanilla and rigid around here.

Same. And I just get the feeling that they just SAY they're chilled, but you can definitely see the demeanor change after the choice is made
Love how it turned out! I think Becky nailed the design more, but since Kelsey is the sister, she can go in a bit of a different direction and know that her sister would still like it because she knows her taste.
It’s just occurred to me that the “lets get designing” shots have to just be staged because they’ll need to have all the stuff ready to then start the makeover 👀 10/10 acting and production 😉

Except for the details, the idea was almost identical. I love the dark green (the colour of my couch!), but would never have thought to put it on a wall..gorgeous!!

......I liked Becky's design more.... And the moulding could have just been nailed up with a pin nailer and pulled down once you moved.
OR just hang empty frames in the same color for a renter friendly hack!
Stephanie Tibbetts I don’t think frames would work because they’re smaller unless you’re willing to pay a lot for bigger frames
@@arlizan430 You can also build frames pretty easily. Just some crown moulding and a miter saw.
Stephanie Tibbetts that is technically moulding though not frames. I think it would be strange to have moulding hanging like a picture frame but I can totally see what you mean with not attaching it fully maybe with just 4 small nails or something
You can also use command adhesive strips to hang strips of MDF for a faux trim.

Mirror placement not so right. Since it reflects the shelves on the wall, the room looks more cluttered. Must have thought about it too.

At first, i liked Becky's design better, but now that I see the reveal, this looks more practical and comfy. I also liked the fact that they used as much of what they already had which encourages us and makes it relatable. Yes she needed a rug and shelves... but they didnt replace the coffee table, the desk, the mirror just for the sake of replacing and having everything perfect. They showed us how you make it work with what you have, and I personally really appreciate it. They solved the problems jenna had, and they checked all the boxes!! Great job girls !!

I have a curtain I fell in love with, that I use as a shower curtain but it’s so long and drags on the floor. I have the same peg curtain clips. I’m going to try and fold the top over as well and see if it looks as beautiful as those linen curtains you hung for your sister. ❤️❤️❤️ Big thank you

OMG! I have those same curtain clips and now I definitely am going to use them the same way you did. I recently made a dramatic change to my wall colour (from 15 years of terra cotta orange to a light blue) and my custom made draperies no longer work. You've inspired me similar draperies.
