I definitely think the cream celining was the call! It just made the space brighter and moved the attention to the other pieces of the space like the mural! Love it!
Right? I'm absolutely dumbfounded. It barely looks different at all...how is that possible. The tissue paper was white. The lampshade was cream. The paper has folds and crinkles. The tissue paper doesn't. I'm so confused honestly. It looks amazing. Does it still fold and flatten or did the glue create too hard a shell? Did you have to leave the tape inside? This is a total mystery and I'm FASCINATED.
@@Arionlappythose are my questions as well. How to match the paper tones and especially can you see where the tape is by it’s shadow when the light is on? Considering how delicate these lanterns are I can’t imagine being able to remove the tape.
Having decorated my house a few times as a ✨40 year old lady✨, I have come to the belief that it's always the second or third redesign that looks the best. Something about living with a space for awhile makes the redesign just better. Anyone else notice that? You figure out the flaws, eliminate the unnecessary, and figure out what's most important to enjoying the space over time.
That is exactly why I've lived in the same place for almost 2 years and haven't been able to put most of the wall art up. I've swapped furniture and rearranged things so many times, but I think I'm finally getting it right now and I'm about to start putting things on the walls and I'm going to paint 2-3 rooms.
I'm re-redesigning my house myself and it's so much better than any other iteration! I totally agree, living with a space for a while and being able to hone in on what is and isn't working is so good.
100% agree. I’m the typical constantly-rearranging-my-stuff ADHD girlie, but it just makes sense! It also makes decorating less stressful if you just think of it as iterations. Nothing has to be permanent, it’s all about living in the space and seeing how it feels. Also, this ✨30 year old lady✨ loves the little Jenna Marbles reference 🥲
I love almost everything except the window clings. They should have gone on the side with the frames. The way Kelsey did it it's overlapping the frame making it obvious that it's a window cling. If it was on the other side in the frame it would look like actually frosted glass
I think the frames are actually in between two panels of glass so either side it would look like that. I’m sure she did it because they are looking in there more often than out!🙂
@@meridianwest9516 You can see the pane mullions on the other side of the glass very clearly at 19:37 (and several other times). She put the film on the wrong side. Also, looking in vs looking out doesn't matter. The cling film will appear the same from either side you view it from....it would just LOOK better on the correct side.
yeah like either commit to the checkered pattern or make the mismatch symmetrical from the doors. the way she did it feels like the film run out rather than intentional.
This space looks beautiful - light and airy. I appreciate that you ladies often use what you have instead of sourcing expensive stuff. oh man! finally a name for the process my house goes through: "room tetris".
It looks so nice! Out of curiosity, have you guys ever considered flipping the living room area and the table? I feel like the living room section has always been tricky/awkward because you have to walk through it to get to the table. Might be easier to find an ideal layout for the couches with them flipped
I really thought that lantern was a loss cause and when you said you were going to try to fix it, I was thinking oh I don’t think that’s humanly possible lol. I am so impressed and you give me such hope to check TH-cam for even things like that And I may be surprised that there’s a video out there and that I can actually do it with simple materials. I’m so impressed. Seriously wow❣️❣️❣️
It's turning out amazing as usual for the Sorry Girls! Just a warning though fiddle leaf figs hate drafts and ACs so I'd probably hide the AC unit with a different plant. I made that mistake with my fiddle and it was so dramatic it killed off like all of its bottom leaves 😭
THIS. IS. EVERYTHING!!! I loved the black ceiling, but the new color just disappears and lets everything else shine. The doors are PERFECT. I wonder if some of the layers of paint were oil based/enamel, which made stripping them harder. But you did such a good job on them. And that LAMP FIND!!! Kelsey, killin' it as always.
Love the new space!! I think something that should be changed is the DIY chandelier above the table. To me looks so cheap & since they are painted they don’t give out too much light. I would suggest FB marketplace or doing a larger version of Rachel’s chain light.
Yeah, I've always had a bit of a gripe with light fixtures that try to be aesthetic to the point of not functioning when it comes to providing lighting... opaque light shades or completely translucent light shades completely defeat the purposes! A light shade is supposed to diffuse the light from the harsh bright lightbulb to softly and evenly cast light out. Anyway all that to say, the painted jars are super cute but slightly maddening lol!
I personally think you should have a pillow nook on the side somewhere. It sets a vibe & is definitely comforting & relaxing for many wanting to create, etc. That lantern looks GREAT & so does the lighter color in there with the rest of your wall art designs, & the updated door. Great color. The mini tribute to robot stand is perfection ! Love that so much. So glad you guys included it.
Another Loft Vibes! YAY 🎉 The black ceiling never stood out to me before, but it is much more neutral now. I can't express how relieved I am about the paper shade. Now that entry wall looks finished. ❤
I don't know if it is a Sorry Girls thing or a Canada thing, but I just love seeing older, smaller, blemished spaces. I feel like the US leans towards new, disposable, and big. My husband and I own an old 672 sq ft home in northern Wisconsin, and Sorry Girls is the only channel that resonates with us. Thank you.
This looks SO GREAT, Kelsey! Painting the ceiling is everything - it brightens the space so much. And those doors! My word, that was quite a project. But well worth all the effort you put in. I agree that the couches don't need the pillows. It's much cleaner and less cluttered looking without them. And I'm so in love with that floor lamp you found. It has a retro vibe which suits the space perfectly! Well done!
You definitely made this space much better it looks like it breaths now like before the ceiling was suffocating the space!! It looks lighter, fresher and much more spacious. Well done i applaud your great eye for decor and can i just add i could kick myself on the amounts of times i have ripped and thrown away paper lampshades and your torn lampshade turned out perfect like it had never been damaged so great going girl ❤👏
shows how much little diffs can be huge and also that makeovers are not always perfect the first time around and tweaks afterwards are normal. love how it turned out !!!
If the office is big into having candles lit (idk if it's just for the shot lol) I recommend electric lighters! They're super cool and sustainable because they just recharge. It's wild how big of a change the painted ceiling makes! The room looks so much bigger and brighter ❤
You ladies are so inspirational! I've been empowered to replace both a kitchen faucet and a shower head for my family (low flow for the win!!), redo my entire bedroom, and find unique decor in the boxes of old stuff that my relatives had forgotten about. I can't wait to have my own spaces to thrift and diy for!! :) And I think getting the ceiling painted was 100% the right call. It makes the space so much brighter
I am SO happy you did this. The conference room/hangout space has always felt like an after thought to me and like it was never really finished. Great job!
My favorite switchplate covers are enerlites screwless plates. They just look elevated and are still really affordable. I spent an entire day replacing 48 in my house. Total upgrade. Also use them in my business spaces.
I like the seating better without the pillows. Less busy in an otherwise very busy (but cohesive) room. Maybe same toned pillows would work? Hopefully the pillows are just hidden and the team still has access to them cause I imagine they are needed for comfort. Loved the overall transformation! Next should be that multi colored mural wall. It goes with the room, but also feels a little out dated
i think pillows or cushions that match the couch material would still look clean while providing the coziness & support of pillows for ppl sitting there
Tha light shade fix was amazing. I think it's a new series, how to fix/restore/repair/update. Maybe include stripping out an old lampshade to create a new look? The room looks great but I admit I am the most impressed with the fix

Definitely a huge improvement, particularly the doors and the ceiling! I still feel like the robins egg blue bit of the mural is standing out against the palette of the rest of the room and cheapening the look though
