    • In this video, Nick shows you how to pattern a 6-Gore Skirt.
    • Flat PATTERN MAKING depends on previously developed patterns as a base for creating DESIGN patterns.
    • The chosen working pattern used here is the TWO-DART SKIRT BLOCK.
    • By eliminating darts, you will create a flared skirt with a total of 6 panels.
    • Nick will show you all his Tips & Tricks to create a nicely curved hemline as well as proper notching to ensure your panels match to perfection!

    I love a gored skirt but I prefer a 7 gore skirt since it’s basically a base for an Edwardian or late Victorian skirt and I even add more sweep starting from the knees, a la Mermaid skirt style.

    Thanks so much for this! I ordered your men's flat sketching and basic guide to pattern drafting books after binging on a bunch of your videos, and they're a great reference! Really appreciate the tutorials.

    This video is so timely for me as I want to start sewing more complex things than pillow cases and decided on some simple skirts. I love your "joie de patterns"! I know it's demanding of me, but I would find it helpful to see your drafted patterns as a finished sewn object, even if it's just in muslin or fabric scraps.

    Thank you so much for this lovely educational tutorial. I have enjoyed watching and learning (and loved you on Project Runway!)
    Please direct me to the TH-cam tutorial for your basic skirt block. It must be better than all the ones I have come across, to date. Thank you.

    Nice practical videos! One detail I miss sometimes is the "why". Why keep the back dart? Is it to big?

      @sunshinesmiles5386 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's actually to form a curve over your hips/butt. If you get rid of it the same way you did with the darts in the front, you won't have the curve in the correct area. Good question!

    Thanks. Question. If one of the front darts is omitted shouldn't the side front waist be less by the amount you increased the front panel?
