Если учесть, что много деталей было изготовлено заново, возникает вопрос??? А чтобы не заменить эти деревянные ручки на новые, тем более, что старые со смещëнным центром тяжести??? 👍👍👍

That is a clever trick for finding the gear ratio!

What a great tool, incredibly interesting. I love the restoration you did. And I learned something about varnish today. It was a success all around. Oh, and about the German engineering accuracy, they obviously hired someone else to drill the handle ;)

Thank you very much for your comment! I always try to keep restorations as true to the original as possible, including varnishing. Where there was once varnish, there should be varnish again - and the right kind. I always get a stomach ache when I see someone plastic-coating an ancient machine!

The manufacturer already did the hard bit, but looks like they'd had run out of enthusiasm by the time it came to the wooden handle. 00:51 😄 Beautiful restoration, Mate, it really is. I always like how German tools always go for that little bit extra finesse. In this case the enclosed gearing, keeps the lubricated surfaces clean, but also the grease and oil from getting on the hands and transferring to the work. These type of drills and it must be said, manual coffee grinders, are awkward to use. I'm left handed so having the crank on the left side, means you have to wind backwards for a right handed drill. And no, it is just as akward for me to drill with the right hand. Cheers. 👍

Thanks for Your comment! Yes, I loved this decentered handle, too. And exactly for this reason I didn't want to replace it. Perhaps I should keep my eyes open for a hand drill with a body big enough to install a reverse gear 😄. And meanwhile You might consider to buy left cutting drills! Keep on watching my videos - the next one will come in one or two weeks: A hand drill press called 'Regulateur' from ca. 1910 with pressure control by centrifugal weights.

@@chipsdust7534 This was the first video I had seen of yours and immediately subscribed. I'll have to look at the coffee grinder video again. I fell asleep. (it was very early morning in Australia) Cheers

A great job on a beautiful old drill! Übrigens, when you say “ready with the rough work”, are you translating ,,bereit”? We would say “finished with…” in English, when the job has been done 😉
