Restoration - Old hand mortiser

- We bought an old hand mortiser for door and window locks. After the renovation, it works perfectly, but since we did not find any period material for the mortiser, so I ask you if you do not know what we are missing on the mortiser? (pictures at the end of the video). Any sleeve? The screws are quite long! At the bottom is the M12 threaded hole. I thought that the stop rod was screwed in there, but as you can see in the picture it is not parallel to the mortiser bed ?! If you have any ideas, I'll be happy if you advise me in the comments so I can use the mortiser to the fullest. If you have pictures or links to the same or similar mortiser, I will be happy if you send them to me on Facebook : / 951735661652138
Thank you so much Radek.
If you have any information, you can share it with others on my Facebook page:

If you have any questions about the process, use machines or other things, ask me in the comments. I try to answer everyone and as soon as possible.
I'm sorry for my bad English, it's not my language.
I'm uploading videos about restoring mechanical things. I'm uploading videos about the restoration of old wooden things. I fix things as best I can. I am self-taught. Therefore, if some procedures are wrong, forgive me. Thank you.
If you like this renewal, share and send :)

I'm just an old country boy, I grew up in Kentucky and Indiana. I am impressed completely. If I may say so, don't let the "experts" comments get to you. Being self taught is mind-blowing. Please keep working on content. That's history you are working on.
As they say "Those who don't study history are doomed to repeat it"
And "Those who don't study history will become servants to those who do."
Thanks my friend for the informative comment. I'll stick to it :) Greetings from the Czech Republic.
Speaking as a 45 year woodworker including 15 years making commercial and custom residential doors I want to tell you that it was a real pleasure watching this restoration. I have never seen a hand device like this before. Beautiful restoration. Thank you for sharing.👍
Thank you, I really appreciate it :)
As a retired Locksmith I have installed hundreds of mortise locks on new builds. It was an absolute joy to see you bring this marvelous piece of precision equipment back to life and very glad that figured how to do the radius corners of the newer locks as opposed to the squared face locks of old. Great job!!!!!!!!!!!
thank you very much Karl :)
This billiards reference has made my day totally 😝🎱
I'm glad, thank you very much :)
I just have a hell of a time figuring out how you remember to put things back together. It fascinates me. Please keep doing all this cool stuff. And thank you for showing us that we don’t have to live in a throw away world.
That's why he records it!
I have 35 years woodworking experience and have never seen this device. Absolutely fantastic! You did a great job bringing it back to life and showing how it is used, thank you. Best regards.
That makes me happy, thank you Ken :)
Beautiful restoration but thank God for mortising machines
Lol, thank you :)
That is cool. I have never seen a tool like the hand-operated door mortiser. You did a really good job restoring it to working order. Well done.
Довно неболо
Thank you George :)
Das Gerät sieht klasse aus und macht eine vernünftige Arbeit.
Danke für den Beitrag.
Danke dir :)
Brilliant, had me glued to the screen the whole time.
Wow, thanks :)
I love antique hand tools.
👍
Pool cue segment is great! LOL!
I’m glad that you demonstrated that. I have never seen one before.
Neither do I, but it works perfectly. It is probably not for common use, but rather for carpenters.
WOW!!!
THIS IS MARVELOUS!!!
Thank you Diane :)
Beautiful job, as always, Radek. Love the humour in your videos.
And, for reference, your English is excellent.
De kuji vam.
Thank you Scott :)

Good morning from Southeast South Dakota
handsomely renovated and the wood shavings you can light in the stove with
Thank you, yes Veronica just used them yesterday to light the grill :) Thanks Jerka
I love watching your videos! Not only are the restorations amazing, but you learn a little bit of history too!!!
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻❤️❤️❤️
I'm glad Samantha, thank you
Congratulations Radek for this beautiful restoration. I had never seen this type of piece.
Veronica, I don't know if it's Mother's Day there, but here in Brazil, Mother's Day is celebrated today, congratulations to you on Mother's Day.
Hello from Czech republik to Brazil, we celebrated Mother's Day too.
Yes too, thank you Jose Luiz :) Veronica
I really like this silent or ASMR approach. It’s kind of like reading as opposed to movies in that your mind gets to fill in things and ask questions that may be answered in the end. Where does that screw go? Why is it there? Will the tork be enough to actually dig out a mortise?
And then I always wonder if by sandblasting you’re taking of too much metal so that the piece won’t fit back together. I guess not because these metal workers do it all the time.
sanding the handle was a good touch
I just love you guys! I get a beautiful restoration, a history lesson and pool lessons all in one on this one. LOL And, Happy Mother's Day to Veronika from the US.
Thank you Carmen :)
These videos are awesome. And I've been following channels like this a lot. I can't remember which channel is which, but what I remember about this channel is that his gloves have round beads on the gloves.😂

Thank you Robert :)
it,s a good thing technology does not stop, otherwise we would still be back in the old age, doing things the old way and time consuming, but it,s good to see and preserve the things from back in the day, to see where we came from, to where we are at now with things .....good job as usual ......
Thank you so much Odil :)
Excellent restoration. You managed to turn an old and tired machine into something that will be of use in the workshop for years to come. Thanks for sharing. Best wishes.

That is a very nice tool. Good job.
Thanks :)
I'm no carpenter or machinist, but I would say this is a beautifully engineered and machined piece of kit! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you :)
Well done Radek, an entertaining video that was educational as well! I had no idea that such tools existed before power tools were common. I enjoyed the part before you washed the nuts and bolts when they all marched up the slope and you pretended to chalk a cue before you pushed them all into soapy water. Hoping you are all healthy and happy. Nick
Yes Nick, thank you all so far Ok :) Hugs to the whole family :) Radek and Veronica
Sempre um excelente trabalho. Parabéns 👏👏🇧🇷
Obrigado Marcello :)
Nunca havia visto uma ferramenta igual a essa aqui no Brasil. Parabéns 👏👏👏👏👏
