Sometimes a watch surprises you. It's different in person than in pictures or video. It can be a good different, or a disappointing different. In this video I show a Panerai that was different that what I anticipated... in a very good way. It is the unexpected Panerai. And dang-it... now I want another watch.

OMG! Finally some recognition of the Radiomir. My 992 ran for 11 days on a single wind!

It should run for 8 days .. not 11! That’s poor

Hi Bruce, thanks for your contant. Im here in good old Germany and also like the look of the Radiomir. The Pam 190 with the JLC-movement is fantastic and worth to look at. There are some out there, only produced from 2004 to 2006. Love your work, stay healthy! Greetings from Hannover Germany

Love your Panerai content. I was sure I was going to go get a Luminor in a few weeks, but then suddenly I tried on a Radiomir and... Now I'm going to get a Radiomir.

Cushion shaped cases do wear smaller than their 'regular' shaped counterparts, but in this cushion niche there are so many opions at all the price spectrum, from like a Heuer Monza to Vacheron 1291 Historiques Americaine. My Grail watch in this kind of case shape is Laurent Ferrier Galet Square, but I also have to mention Chaumet Paris Dandy. For a smaller wrist you can find some 38 and 40mm Panera's, and they wear like a treat! Nice video, Bruce.

    Hello watch People 👋
Great show Bruce 👊🏼 keep up the good work buddy
Panerai is one of the most versatile Watches, personally owned a Radiomir Pam690 that’s my blue dial Watch, also owned a Luminor Pam270 this last one is one of my favorite watches 10 days PR, GMT can’t go wrong with any of this pieces

Glad you like the Radiomir as well, Bruce! I recently bought a new old stock PAM00439 which is a solid 18k 42mm Radiomir which also has a clean black / tobacco dial with small seconds on 9 o ´clock. It also has an open caseback which lets you see the beautiful older-style inhouse movement P.999 which is based on a Piaget 838P calibre. For me this is THE perfect Radiomir for more elegant occasions. It has everything I wanted from a Radiomir or Panerai in general and ticks all the boxes! Which isn't that easy if you are familiar with the somewhat confusing Panerai portfolio. I never thought I would buy a solid gold Panerai but this one was a steal considering the 18k case! I bought this below 11k USD with full warranty!

Yes!! The Radiomir is so under appreciated - check out the PAM643 Hobnail ceramic. Just picked one up and it is so stealthy and badass!

I have two 47mm Radiomirs. I've tried the 45mm but I found it a little on the small side. My sweet spot for standard watches is ~43mm for a standard bezel, and 44mm - 45mm for something a dive watch or GMT. I have larger wrists and am quite tall, so the sizing works for me. That said, I did try a 47mm Radiomir in the 1940 case, standard lugs. Beautiful watch, but the lug-to-lug was something like 57mm, so no go. The wire lugs make a huge difference in keeping the size manageable.
Since Bruce mentioned a circular PR... I have a PAM 323 with the circular PR. Really nice take on the PR vs the straight line or the arc style that is much more common.

What do you think between 720 and 210? I really like the aesthetics of the 720 but worried of the chunky side. That’s why I was also looking at 210. What are your thoughts? Thanks for helping!

Just purchased my first Panerai. It is the Pam 992 as well. Just like what you said, it took me a few minutes I am already in loved with this piece. I thought I couldn't manage to wear a 45mm however it is not.

A couple of years ago I decided to add a Panerai to my collection. I bought the carbotech PAM969 Marina Militare . I thought that even with my 7.75" wrist it still might be to big . Not so . I've dov r all over the world with that watch and absolutely love it . It's deceptive in the size . It actually wears surprisingly well . Great video. Almost nobody dies videos on Panerai.

Tried the radiomir base logo on at Watches of Switzerland in Birmingham UK yesterday. Really was surprising and of course the history of this model makes it very compelling.
Also the strap was stunning, really a beautiful rustic tabacco leather from Austria.

Nice video mate. Personally I think the most underrated radiomir are Pam 287. It has the same cushion case with automatic movement. Yes it might be 7750 but it’s easy to service anywhere. It to mention the underneath cyclops are timeless and can’t be seen in modern watches.

I already have a Luminor and love it. My next Panerai has to be a Radiomir. I’ve tried on a few in store and obviously I love the fit, but after some digging around, I’d like to try and get a pam190 with the 8 day JLC movement and a power reserve so I don’t have to guess how alive the watch is 😂

Such a great watch. Panerai and iwc are so unloved and unappreciated. But I do hope they cater to the smaller wrists if they want to be more competitive. Oh and the circular text is a homage to the original from the 50s

I had a white dial PAM01499 just over 2 years ago. It cost £6600. It was a nice and note worthy 44m watch. BUT... It's in house 9100 movement was poor.... -8 sec a day out of the box.
Had it regulated twice. Still best of -4 a day....
Sold it eventually, got an Omega Seamaster AT ... No contest. The 8900 movement is fantastic. Panerai has a charm. But ....
Not in the same league as a watch like the AT

Especially the pan with the Blue Sunray dial... What do you think ❓

Big Panerai Fan but in the last few years they have lost their way. Cost cutting like the lack of power reserve on the 992 and unfinished movements hidden behind solid casebacks is now the norm

Very cool watch. I have to admit I haven’t been a fan of this brand.. Not sure what changed but I just started admiring them within the last couple of months. It shocked me. That being said. I now truly appreciate the design.
With this specific watch. Not sure I care for the see through case back. I am sure it’s a great movement. It just isn’t a looker. Just my opinion. But overall, great watch.

Only inside AR coating to avoid ugly scratches on outside crystal.
The 8 GIORNO logo is obviously a historic reference. Typical Panerai neo vintage like faux patina lume.
