I bought my first Panerai 3.5 years ago. Sold it soon after... then got to missing it... a lot. Bought the same model back again (at an even better price), then another one... and another... I've now purchased 20 of the things. Twelve are still around in the collection. They have their own watchbox. One is for sale, so I guess I haven't completely lost my mind. :) Anyway, I guess you could call me a fan. I have other watches in the collection, some really nice ones in fact. Yet when it comes time to select the watch of the day, Panerai gets the honor much of the time. I think that they are some of the best pre-owned value out there today. For instance I have an Equation of Time that cost me not much more than a run-of-the-mill Omega. For a high complication like that?? The watch has so many parts to the movement that it weighs more than a gas BBQ. To get an EoT in one of the other few brands producing one is approaching mid-five figures. Setting aside the question of who actually needs an EoT, it is a cool and unique complication. I also recently picked up a red gold, 1 of 150 LE. Stunning. It has an in-house skeletonized movement that is finished so well I would put it up against Patek. Not the same brand cache, but nowhere near the same price tag either. And then there is the legendary PAM 190. The movement is actually a JLC 877, with the Panerai OP designation of course. Incredible movement. I now know why JLC is considered the watchmaker's watch. YMMV, but once you get into the brand, you realize how different each piece is, despite the initial impression that they are subtle variations on the same design. And if you're into straps, as I am, so many options to change up the look.
was in doubt and bought one (177). I must say I absolutely love it. It's so fun to wear, and it is way more comfortable than you would expect, thanks to the sloped bezel and flat caseback.

Never really been a fan of manual watches, and interesting history about the brand. but that's a cool watch just the same , and I have 9 inch wrists, so I like bigger watches.
I have the new 40mm Quaranta and I love it. I’ve owned a few 44mm versions and even a 38mm Due, but the 40mm Quaranta is the sweet spot for me. The crown guard, the legibility, the wearability, all come together to create a perfect watch. And it’s an absolute strap monster!
I was put off Panerai when I found out it was near impossible to differentiate between some of their Genuine watches and a top drawer fake..I Love their Dials though❤
Great video! Love my pam00050. 40mm from 1999 with the awesome 90’s bracelet that I don’t have the heart to take it off of. 300m, automatic, hacking. Still a tank, but a bit more manageable at that size for my 6.5-6.75 inch wrist.
Just the guy. I wear smaller watches (Explorer 1, Cartier santos 29, largest I have is BB58), I have a 6.75’ wrist but don’t like big and flashy). Saying that… I’ve stumbled across a PAM00049 (40mm, similar to yours I think but white dial). In my head it’s the perfect summer holiday watch and I’m thinking of pulling the trigger. It’s on a rubber strap but plan on getting a few different colourways. Is it really that much of a tank? Is it the thickness? Cheers!
