    Tommy, you said you don't know where these J20 Trucks went,..well they went to rust and dust, quite literally,....my Father in Law owned one, I had a few CJ's in the day(s) and they all just rusted away to scrap. Bert ( or Burt ) was very smart and grabbed this one before it went in a land fill somewhere,...he's done a masterful job of restoring this great J20,..well done Sir!
    Yes Tommy,..it does deserve an 11 out of 10.

  • @briandeiwert5911
    @briandeiwert5911 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    You don't see them in the wild anymore as the last ones were made in 1988. Also Jeep/AMC was a distant 4th place in size and sales compared to Ford/GM/Dodge in truck sales. Really by the 80's Dodge was barely selling any trucks as they hadn't been upgraded since the early 70s. Enter the Cummins and that changed.
    When Chrysler bought out Jeep in 1987 they decided to kill the Jeep trucks as competition. The fact FCA now has a Jeep mid-sized truck is a miracle, but I doubt we'll never see a full sized Jeep truck again. A shame as full sized Gladiator on a Ram frame with some extra off-road goodies sounds so sweet.

    • @trevorj79
      @trevorj79 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Brian Deiwert if you look a little deeper into it, the new 93 Dodge was what you get when you give Jeep engineers an unlimited budget, but they were forced to put a Dodge grill on it.

    Its been fifteen years or a little more ago that I got my hands on one the factory rated as a one ton and it was longer and heavier in a lot of ways. It had a three sixty and I put the four forty in it with four speed and divorced transfer case. Rugged twelve thousand pound winches and a six inch floor tool box that slide out for access plus duel fuel tanks, tbi fuel injection with long tube headers... deep water snorkel, and topped off the tires with little thirty fives on american rims cause of the fact I know they are way strong. Its long gone as someone who must of needed it stole it and got it out of alaska, a place only able to travel the alcan or ferry but its never been seen again

Peak Torque and Torque curve are both vastly better , greater HP and significantly better fuel economy. Its still not the greatest but going from 6-8 mpg on average to a constant 14 mpg was worth the money and effort alone

    My father sold dodge trucks in this time period and I remember a farmer who had a J20 Jeep and I't put any ford or chevy to shame. He loved to show it off! Great restoration.

    I’m addicted to them! I have 2 J10’s and a J20. One of the J10’s is the SportSide model (Step Side) they are rare. My son has a J10 Golden Eagle.
    The big problem is the rust really bad.

    I had a 1977 J-10 with Dana 44s. Loved the truck but I had lots of rust problems

    I haven't seen one of these forever. I see more of the older Willy's pick ups than these. Always liked the lines of the Jeep pickup.

    Here in venezuela we have a lot of these trucks, sadly most of them are in bad shape, poorly mantained, still working tho, and they are pretty cheap, you can buy one with the I6 for less than 1000$
