Those old motors were beasts. I've always wanted to drop a 401 into an M715.

as a guy who has owned alot of these rigs they are so underrated cant wait to get my new 1984 J20 out camping this summer

That's a really nice truck. You can tell a lot of thought went into the build. My Dad had a 78 Cherokee Chief, the platform looks very similar to this J20. Nice video, thanks for sharing!
Theyre similar, but the J10-20 has a much longer wheel base, wider frame spacing and axles, and Dana 60 rear for a J20, the frame is also 2x thicker on a j10 and j20 than a cherokee
Hope one day my J10 will get like this.. Currently restoring it i have clips of me doing it

awesome jeep I love it . I am restoring my grandpas 78 J10 I am upgrading engine, trans, transfer case and axles. I started my jeep restore on TH-cam last week if you care to follow along. great job! I also have an overland 08 Ford I am building a custom overland vehicle out of, with a Cummins, Allison transmission and 4 link suspension front and rear with an custom rear camper/sleeper we will be videoing it next week. we will be taking it to SEMA next year to debut it for the customer. Awesome work I love the jeep

Is J20 an 8 lug differential ?
What is the difference between J10 vs J20.??
I'm about to buy one, which is a 8 lug, long bed, 4x4..
I found it down here in Mexico City...
J10 is 1/2 tone, J20 is 3/4 ton. So the J20 will have 8 lug axles.

So capability-wise she needed nothing to get the job done. Just a small lift? Stock axles, gears, posi?
X Mo the j20 has a Dana 60 in the rear and a heavy duty Dana 44 in the front, they are extremely capable. The j20 is basically the 1 ton version, they also made the j10 a 3/4 ton I believe or 1/2 ton not exactly sure but there all really bad ass
Axles on a J20 are HD44 front and 60 rear with 373 or 410 gears more than enough to get the job done offroad as long as your ok with sticking to 65 or below on road
What size tires are you running?
