Excellent looking comanche! Definitely remove the floor mat and check underneath for rust. Patch it and coat it and she should last for a few more decades! That's what I did to mine :D
Remove the floor mat to look for rust lol! No, with the prices they are asking it’s up on the lift with high intensity flashlight inspecting every square inch 😂
Love the MJ Comanches! They're hard to find due to their rarity and I have a '98 Grand Cherokee ZJ Laredo 4.0 but it's a 2wd and I've had it for 13 years and it now has a battery problem and could be possibly be a parasitic drain.
Beautiful MJ. It's a keeper. Back in the late 90's we were in high school. A buddy of mine had one, 2.5l, 2wd, 5 speed. We put a lincoln locker in the rear and had a blast in that little truck. You'd be amazed how tuff these little rigs are.
looks like a great Comanche. I've had my current one for 4ish years now and I love it. bought mine for about the same price but with a 97+ XJ engine/interior swap. best truck I've ever owned you're going to love it!
Very, very nice MJ. Good choice. My parameters would be exactly the same: 4.0, 5 speed, 4x4, short box. Yes, the AX15 would be nice, but you've got a great truck.
Nice and clean truck, congrats on it! You should join the Comanche Club forum and maybe start your own build thread, lot's of great info on there, and good folks always willing to help. Which brings me to the next question. Any updates on it?
That’s a good idea Joe! I may just do that. A full restoration series is coming this spring. So far I have just replaced engine parts. Radiator, block heater, starter, alternator, ect. Fun stuff coming soon! It may even include a rare factory sport bar 🤫🤗
Great find and glad you got it knowing how much you appreciate it and will take care of it. I will never sell my '89 MJ. I am the original owner, have had it painted twice but no major problems with the 4.0, 271k and going strong, fortunately i have the AX 15. Look forward to more videos!
Very nice MJ, love your sport truck. I had an 88 SporTruck I drove home to PA from Los Angeles, super clean. Currently I have a 90 Comanche Eliminator, 4.0L, AX-15 transmission, 4x4, AC, rear sliding window, vent windows, and I've added cruise. I totally would have purchased the truck you have if it had come up in my search. Enjoy yours! For the mileage, the price is right in line with what is expected. Mine was $9800 with 251k miles, awesome condition but needing the typical tune ups.
Thank you, I was stoked to find it! Sounds like you have yourself an awesome Comanche as well! I wish mine had the AX-15 and A/C but maybe one day 😎 if you feel like sending pictures on Instagram I’d love to see it montana__offroad.
@@Montanaoffroad1 I'm not on Instagram but am an active member of the Comanche Club forum. That forum is probably the best one I've ever been a part of, super friendly and knowledgeable people that just want all the Comanches to be saved and used. The AX-15 is a well documented swap, AC is doable but definitely not the easiest. Actually mine has dealer installed AC, was done after it was built. Apparently that was pretty common back then.
Gratings from Switzerland! Great Video! And of corse a creat Jeep. Im drive a Jeep Cherokee xj 4.0 . Jear 2000 . In Switzerland you not can find a Jeep comanche im sah 1 car in Jears. I like this Car too.
I think you should drill a port hole through the back of the cab and the bed, and throw a subwoofer box in the bed disguised as a tool box. Then it would be PERFECT! Two 12's, perhaps?
Bought an 1989. The 4.0 was a tank. Wish I still had her as much as I had my 1988 Ford turbo coup. Last I knew she had 189,000 miles on it with only a wheel bearing needed.
Having to put a little pressure on the gear lever when in reverse means the gear itself is worn not the syncros. This will eventually lead to gear pop outs.
I actually figured out that when they did a transfer case drop with the lift that they didn’t cut the hole big enough to allow it to stick into gear! Easy fix!
Haven’t done much to restore yep but it’s got a new radiator, block heater, starter, starter relay and alternator 🤗 the real restoration series is still coming! Be patient with me 😊
Love the video. Can’t wait to see what you do with it. Was wondering about price and miles but seems like a great deal! I don’t mind the paint/decals tbh. I like the old faded trucks. Cool Comanche!
Thanks for watching! Restoration series starting soon!
Hey Thomas Yingling from the group, great find, that one is mint! I chopped my bed down to 5.5' 👍🏻 shortest bed in existence that I know of 😁
Thanks Thomas! Appreciate that! You have your manche a whole new meaning to short box lol
Dang brother that thing is beautiful! Nice find
Thank you! I was so pumped to find it 🙌
Sweet!
Thats my dream truck. I always saw one on the way to school back in the early 90s and I thought it was cool as hell.
Also my very first car was an 85 Cherokee in the same color with the same color interior.
Had a white one in high school. 2.5L 4x4 4.10 with posi trac. 5 speed. 88.
They are fun rigs!
Excellent looking comanche! Definitely remove the floor mat and check underneath for rust. Patch it and coat it and she should last for a few more decades! That's what I did to mine :D
Thank you! I definitely will. Loving the new Manche! 😄

Well done video! That jeep is a beauty, really enjoy your videos!
Thanks! Appreciate the kind words!

Super clean comanche! will definitely follow your build. I just got an 87 comanche.
Thanks! Congrats on your 87 man! Loving it so far.
Beautiful MJ congrats!

3 12’s and you got yourself a deal 😂

Very vice MJ! I've got 2!
Thanks you sir! Restoration coming this spring 🙌
The "burp tank", aka coolant overflow, were notorious for cracking, fixed in later years.
Yeah, fortunately mine has been replaced with a newer model year
Nice truck! I have a mint restored 89 MJ, I will never sell it. Please turn down the volume of the background music a bit for future Comanche videos.
Id love to see it! If you get the time send it over to my instagram montana__offroad! Noted on the Background music.
I have one that I am about to get started on. I am going Merc diesel on it.
Good for you! Save the Manche’s!
Does this one have power steering?
Yessir!
I have a 7 ft long bed an the 6 ft bed looks to small for me. 😂
Hey, to each their own! Comanches are awesome either way! 😎
You do get the larger gas tank on the long bed which is very, very useful.
@johnmartin5448 can’t argue with that!

When’s the next video coming on this truck???
I’ve got a whole restoration series coming! Just gotta be patient with me 🙏
so whats the status on the Restoration? :D
Haven’t done much to restore yep but it’s got a new radiator, block heater, starter, starter relay and alternator 🤗 the real restoration series is still coming! Be patient with me 😊
Never let it go. I had to Comanche once and like an idiot I sold it. 😢
Awesome how much you pay for it?
$6500 worth it to me!
😮😮😮😮😮
☺️
You've got rust under that vynil flooring. How bad you'll have to find out. If those seat bolts are rust then so are your floor pans.
We shall see! Plan on taking the vinyl up soon to find out!
If you find a source for the hubcaps let me know… we need one… or two…
Love the video. Can’t wait to see what you do with it. Was wondering about price and miles but seems like a great deal! I don’t mind the paint/decals tbh. I like the old faded trucks. Cool Comanche!
Thanks man! Yeah I am loving it, although I plan on doing a little work to return it to its former glory 😁
OK- Good job and good deal. Love the truck. I may have missed this but fuel injected or carburated?
Thanks! The earlier models of Comanche were carbonated but this one is fuel injected 💪🏽
@@Montanaoffroad1 Excellent!! Good Job
id have the entire body taken down , stripped and redone it would be worth it same with the motor + new wiring harness etc.
Maybe one day!
Not rare at all.
I beg to differ. This condition is very hard to find
